“My friend and I ordered and enjoyed a lot of food: - Pimento Cheese w/ Fried Saltines - Roasted Beets w/ Pickled Kumquat, Siano Burrata & White Balsamic-Thyme Vinaigrette - Baguette w/ Cultured Salted Butter - Crispy N.C. Shrimp w/ Marinated Newly-Dug Potatoes & Pickled Ramp Remoulade - Roasted Airline Chicken Breast w/ Herb-Scented Whipped Yukons & Smoky Triple Chicken Jus - Macaroni Au Gratin (the best I’ve ever had, at least four unique cheeses. If you don’t order this Mac ‘n Cheese, that’s your fault!) From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for something special. The rainbow “Don’t Forget Kindness” window etchings, the upscale modern yet retro decor, the attention to detail, and then learning the history, dating back to 1945 — it’s all so impeccable! Oh, and a fantastic cocktail. The 1806 — Orange Infused Bourbon, Brulee'd Brown Sugar, Bitters! Suffice it to say that I will make it a point to be back, often 🏳️‍🌈 Highly recommend!”

“While visiting Raleigh, we decided to order from Oakwood Pizza Box, and it did not disappoint. The pizza was outstanding—perfectly blistered crust, fresh mozzarella, bright tomato sauce, and basil that tasted incredibly fresh. Every bite had that authentic, wood-fired flavor that pizza lovers look for.

The quality of the ingredients really shines through, and the balance of sauce, cheese, and crust was spot on. Even as visitors, we can see why this place has such a great reputation.

“I first tried Dampf BBQ many years ago when they were still out at the fairgrounds, and I can honestly say it has remained the best and most consistent barbecue I’ve had both in this state and across the country. I’ve traveled extensively during my military career, which has given me the chance to try some truly great barbecue spots nationwide. Even with all that experience, Dampf BBQ is still my number one. The meat is always incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked with the kind of care you can taste in every bite. Beyond the food, the people here make the experience even better. This is a dedicated, family-owned, local business that clearly takes pride in what they do. I’ve seen comments about wait times and pricing, but in my opinion, anything truly good is worth waiting for, and anything made with real quality is worth paying for. I drive an hour just to get this barbecue, and I’ve never once been disappointed. It’s consistently excellent, every single time. If you’re on the fence… don’t be. It’s 100% worth the trip. Ajja is the first to fall into this category – from Ambience, Staff, and Culinary Creations – the restaurant has now raised the bar, challenging local restaurants to really push the envelope. Over the past 20 years, I have traveled to more than 68 countries, 33 states, and six continents. Often, the restaurants that truly rank higher are those you least expect. Restaurants that are set in more "local" areas, peculiar places, or just not in the typical outside setting that you would think when thinking of 5-star or Michelin-level culinary experiences. Ajja is nestled in the heart of the Five Points residential area, across the street from old-style craftsman homes. “This was my first visit to the Raleigh location on May 28, 2025 with two out of town guests. three diff dishes were ordered..brisket, St. Louis rubbed ribs and burnt ends. The brisket and burnt ends were amazing. The ribs however were dry and tough. The meat certainly did not fall off the bone. I would not recommend the ribs based on this experience.”

I simply sauteed chopped onion, bell pepper and garlic, added Sarge's sauce and chicken broth, and then added the sauted shrimp. I plated it by putting it on top of my cooked grits and then topping it with a bit of chopped tomato. Yum!”

Yanna was our waitress, and not only was she incredibly kind and attentive, she is also pregnant and still moving with grace, patience, and professionalism. She checked on us consistently, kept everything flowing smoothly, and made us feel genuinely welcome.

Mr. Keith on the grill absolutely nailed it. The food was cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot, fresh, and exactly how we ordered it. It was one of those meals where you take a bite and just know the person cooking cares about what they are doing. I have never had a Waffle House meal this good.

Between Yanna’s warmth and Mr. Keith’s skill on the grill, this location truly stands out. Five stars all the way.”

A tip to keep in mind: it's best to finish the wings while you're at the restaurant. If you have any leftovers and take them home, they don't reheat well.”

“It’s a beautiful bakery, with kind staff and was overall a good experience. In my personal opinion the croissants are the absolute star of the bakery. The pimiento cheese croissant is what southern dreams are made of. The peanut butter cookies were good, as was the baguette (a little more salt and it would have been great, but that’s just being nit-picky). The cinnamon roll was a little on the dry side, maybe could have benefited from a little more glaze, but had a good flavor overall. The shortbread was the heartbreaker for me, but only because I really love shortbread and had high expectations. Shortbread is supposed to be very buttery, and I tasted very little butter. The glaze overpowered it a bit, and I think it messed with the texture as well. If it had been a bit thicker, I doubt the glaze would have affected it as it had. It’s still such a cute cookie, and it’s not the end of the world. Especially with the friendliness of the staff and the variety they had, I know it’s a lot of work and everyone is going to like different things. For me those croissants will be something I dream about, and I can’t say enough good things about. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.”

Yes, it's a resturant in a gas station ; which always tend to be the hidden gems (IYKYK). This place did not disappoint. The pulled pork sandwich was TOP NOTCH. Those hushpuppies on the side were soo good. All the sides looked sooo good; I struggled to decide on which ones to choose: mac n cheese was cheesy and dreamy, baked beans were packed with flavor, the slaw paired perfectly on the sandwhich, and the broccoli salad was also super delicious!! I wish I could of tried every side, next time I am back in the area, I will be coming back and trying more. The brisket on Thursdays, also sooo delicious 😋. Price point was great, I would easily pay more than I did for what I got and how tasty it was! For sure finish your meal off with the banana pudding 🤤 this place is a hidden gem, and Patty too! Had to convince myself to not finish the whole plate because the entree was on order. Calamari was the winner, spicy, hot and just the right amount of chewy. Ordered the beet salad which was good- perhaps a better quality of dressing would be my comment. The cheeseburger and fries were good. Cooked the way I liked it.
