“This restaurant is a nice place to take your date for something special or to take friends to have food together! The food here is a bit on the spicier side, but I would highly recommend trying the peking duck! It was so delicious! Also we would recommend the sweet and sour pork ribs, they were packed full of flavor and super tender! The sweet and sour fish was also very delicious - if you are into seafood, would highly recommend this!“

“This was my first time here the food was excellent and the service was pretty good, should have gotten more attention. When making the reservation I mentioned that it was for a birthday celebration. We had to ask again for that and they said they were gonna give us shots but instead gave us mochi and ice cream“

“I am obsessed with sichuan food, and found this place to be delicious! I was dining solo, so I was only able to try one dish, but the dry pot chicken was phenomenal. Juicy chicken, tasty vegetables, and strong-but-not-overwhelming spice. You will not regret a visit here.“

“Dongpo pork is a must try, it is melt in your mouth! Live music, lively atmosphere and good service. My favorited though was the cucumber salad, so simple yet so refreshing and savory at the same time. Definitely recommend, high quality Asian food.“

“A bougier twist on a lot of traditional Chinese dishes. The highlight of the meal was the braised pork belly, so melt in your mouth tender. Also don't miss the cucumber salad appetizer, I thought the flavors were unique and refreshing.“

“Was a walk-in on a Saturday night at eight, but this place is huge and we were seated within twenty mins! Noise levels on the lower end, even when the place was busy!
Our order was quickly taken by our friendly server, Jeevan, which included: Ginger Sour String Beans (nice and garlicy), Chicken Lo Mein, Veggie Fried Rice, Cumin Fries, Dry Pot Style (Chicken, and Tofu). Food was in-line with expectations and hit all the right spots! I wish it was a little spicy, and their 10/10 spice level is not that spicy! Excellent Sichuan food though in the UWS neighborhood. Menu slightly on the expensive side;
Will definitely be frequenting this place for their super quick service, and good food!
Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly 😎“

“I was recommended this restaurant and took a chance on it as I was looking to diversify where I eat in Brooklyn. I ordered the chicken dumplings and fried rice with duck. Both were excellent and even for the lunch special, the portion of fried rice was too much for just one person. While the service wasn't particularly great, the food and prices were excellent.“

“I highly recommend their famous pork spicy appetizer. It was our 4th times in this place. I would say their meat is high quality because you can tell from the flavor itself. This is our couples favorite Sichuan place. Tonight, we tried SeaBass Mala it was delicious but too spicy but we’ve finish it 😄😛😋“

“We eat at Hot Fish quite often, and usually order the same dishes. I was lucky enough to be their "Tasting Panel Foodie" winner, and was invited to try some different items from the menu. If you want to indulge in an unforgettable gastronomic experience, you have to try the Fresh Striped Bass. I ordered it with spicy sauce, but there are six different flavors to chose from. We also ordered the Sliced Beef with Black Pepper. The beef was so tender and juicy, paired with onions and bell peppers in a savory, black pepper sauce. Then we ordered Dry Pot Cabbage, a mouth-watering Sichuan dish that you have to try. For our last course, we had the Yang Chow Fried Rice, the best I have ever tasted. Thank you, Hot Fish. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and the staff and service were exceptional. I highly recommend dining here when you are looking for a great Sichuan experience.“

“Spicy Moon is a total gem. From the moment you step in, the chilled vibes and great music set the perfect mood. The Chopped Cheese Spring Rolls are an absolute must—crispy, savory, and the dipping sauce? Incredible. The Dane Noodles are packed with fiery flavor, and the General Tso's Mushrooms have the perfect crunch with a juicy, umami punch.
What really stood out, though, was the service. Sayeed was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The whole experience left me thinking, I might need to relocate just to have access to this place more often.
Highly recommend this spot — you won’t regret it!“

“NYC typically rivals the Chinese food you can find in the Bay Area and Hupo certainly helps that case. Focusing on Sichuan style cuisine, Hupo has a wide array of entrees and bites that will leave you full and wanting to come back for more. They certainly do deserve their Bib Gourmand. We had a reservation for 5 set for dinner and were glad we did so as the place was very busy when we arrived. The interior is clean and simple with no frills. Once seated we were informed that they only have digital menus through a QR code which was a bit difficult to navigate with 2 out of the 5 of us being older and not as tech savvy but we figured it out anyways.
We ordered a few different entrees and split them family style so we’ll go over them generally. Side note: although many of the dishes are noted as being spicy you can request that they be made without any spice. For dim sum/appetizers we ordered the scallion pancakes and pork soup dumplings. The scallion pancakes were okay, nothing special about them but the pork soup dumplings were a bit better with a tasty broth inside and nice chewy dumplings. For entrees we got duck fried rice, braised beef noodle soup, beef with broccoli, and dan dan noodles.
The duck fried rice was very good. Many places opt to use day-old rice for fried rice and you can often tell by the texture, but if they do that here then we were fooled because the rice tastes fresh and the duck was perfect. The braised beef noodle soup was also good, not the best we’ve had, but still good with the beef having a nice texture and the broth being rich. The beef with broccoli was great, the beef velvetized and delicious, the broccoli, well, broccoli. Lastly, the dan dan noodles were fantastic. The noodles were cooked perfect, the minced beef very delicious, and the bok choy tasty as well. As it is food wise, Hupo is a standout, particularly in the Western Queens area, the only knock being its service is a bit iffy with the workers being not too warm but for the meal you get, we’re willing to shut up and just eat. A fantastic restaurant all around!“

“A nice elevated Chinese place in Greenpoint for when you don’t feel like going down to Chinatown. I think you get a good value for the atmosphere and quality of food you get, along with portions too. All hits for me.
The Mapo Tofu was super good. Not overkill spicy and very flavorful. I really liked it. $15, but of course you need rice so $17. My GF got the Chicken Soup which I thought was okay. I’ve had variants of this, and I think the broth had an meh flavor.
Overall, though, a great bang for your buck and I’ll be coming back!“

“I got the spicy beef noodle soup and the dumplings in chili oil. I thought the soup was decent. I would have preferred it spicer and there wasn't a ton of beef in it. The broth wasn't super rich, but still had decent flavors. One of my favorite things about the soup were the pickled(?) bamboo shoots. It was actually probably my favorite thing in the soup! The dumplings were really good! The chili oil was another star of the meal and I ended up added some into my soup for more spice and flavor.“

“This is one of my favorite places to get some affordable and authentic Szechuan Hot Pot in the city! It makes for a perfect after work meal especially with the weather settling further and further into fall 🍂 I love to get the prawn hot pot and just how much food comes with it (I always end up taking some home with me)
I’ve been here before when it was less busy, so I was able to order face to face with a server (and service was very friendly and accommodating) but also love that you can order by scanning the code on your table (quick and efficient service!)
I LOVE the broth here! It’s super rich and comforting 🤤I got spice level 2 but definitely could’ve handled a 3 as someone who genuinely loves spice but it was a great experience tasting how well balanced the flavors were
I do wish there was a head off option for the prawn but also love sucking the meat out of the brain I just hate getting super messy lol
Definitely worth the try if you’re a fan of authentic Szechuan or looking to taste something new!“

“I visited this place on my trip to New York because I saw it had been awarded a Michelin bib gourmand. The food was amazing and definitely lived up to its reputation. We got the dry chili chicken and ma po tofu. Both were spicy but good. The ma po tofu in particular was very tingly, which was a unique experience.“

“Such a staple. Especially for Szchzean fix.
Hot& sour soup, mapo tofu, fried rice can't go wrong.
Did have shots of namesake Wu Liang Ye now priced $20. Chaser Tsingtao of course. Deadly night drinking much water afterwards. But, when seldom comes, why not splurge.“

“10/8/25
We were in the neighborhood for an appointment and decided to stop for lunch.
BBQ Ribs are delicious, most Chinese restaurant makes them but are usually tough but these were tender and so flavorful. I wish they were near home hehehe.
Peking Duck, while it was super crispy outside and tender inside it was not seasoned. Without the hoisin sauce it would have been a waste of money...
Bok Choy with Garlic is delicious, I wish I could make it this good hehehe.
If we are ever in the area we would definitely go back.
Lots of pig related decorations, cute! Hehehe“

“Had the beef noodles, absolutely delicious. The soup is hearty and well made, the portions beat many other noodleshop, and the lady at the front desk was super patient and nice while tending to my modifications. They don’t pressure for tips, yet they still serve the food to your table. Definitely a selling point for uni students like myself“

“Food was great. Good place to go for Chinese food. Ambience was normal, and service was okay. But the problem is that they have 2 menus- 1. Dine-in menu 2. Takeout menu and the pricing in either menu was different, takeout menu had a higher price and they had charged us based on takeout menu even though we dined in.“

“I have been coming here since I was a child when they were still at their old location and it has remained my favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is always delicious and consistent. The shredded sesame chicken, scallion pancakes, and hot and sour soup are my go to dishes but everything on the menu is wonderful! The white tablecloths and beautiful atmosphere make the dining experience feel special, and the servers are always warm and caring. I leave every time feeling happy, full, and grateful this place is still just as good as ever! How many other restaurants can you say that about?“

“Always passed by this place... what a mistake. I was amazed by the szechuan food!!! The spicy spliced fish // the fish cabbage soup // bokchoy is so flavorful. It's a hole in the wall restaurant, of course service isn't going to be michelin star grade. but the food is authentic flavorful and relatively cheap for the area, and the serving size is impressive. will keep going back, will bring friends.“

“This place is good... not sure why it gets bad reviews. The food was very good. Had some wontons... some egg drop soup... general tsos chicken... rice... All good - I see some complaints about service but I think the staff was very good at coming back in intervals to check on us. On top of that though, I think service is also about the attitude of the servers which I have only great things say.“
