Whether it's the classic favorites or innovative creations, there's always something deliciously surprising to discover here. “Highly recommend this gem of a place! The dishes are delicious - some top contenders: Chairman’s Pork Belly, Sichuan Wontons (one of the best in NYC), lamb chops, lobster spring rolls, crispy tofu, amongst many other yummy dishes. Definitely try the drinks as well, very unique and tasty. Favorites are the Nightingale and Fallen Angel (pictured).“

“One of my favorite Sichuan spots in NY. It's pretty difficult to get a reservation, but they take walk ins and you can put your name down while walking around the area and you can even grab a drink at one of the many bars in the area while you wait. There's also a Martha's country bakery nearby. The restaurant itself has a minimalist decor. They have one long center bench community table that is honestly perfectly spacious and good for any size party. We tried a lot of different dishes from the menu. Some of our favorites were the Dan Dan noodles, Chungking spicy chicken, sautéed duck with ginger, and you HAVE to get the mustard greens fried rice. Absolutely phenomenal. This place is great for dates or small groups. Will definitely go back.“

“Beautiful interior design, cute booths, ample space despite the relatively small store footprint. Lunch sets were excellent! We ordered 2 lunch sets + an extra main which is just right for two people with large appetites. The double cooked pork and spicy chicken were exceptional - honestly a quality I’d expect in China. The eggplant dish was a bit too sweet (and I’m from an area that eats sweet) but cooked just right otherwise. Ingredient quality was excellent. Highly recommend going for lunch!“

“We had a wonderful event at For U, the food is absolutely delicious, I keep thinking about the cucumber salad it’s so crunchy and tastes so good, the sesame noodles are flavorful and so good, delicate and delicious version of that dish, the best I have ever had. And the Peking duck is divine. It’s a wonderful place for a party, they work with you to make it really special. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the space is warm and beautiful. We had a wonderful time and will go back for dinner very soon.Dietary restrictions: Our event served vegan and vegetarian options as well as standard fare“

“Food is great specially the Spicy Tofu bun and Kung Pao Style Tofu. Service is fantastic, very attentive, kind and got served pretty fast after ordering. Tables and chairs are quite small not comfortable for me. Would reccommed for the food and the service. Prices are decent too for the taste and quantity.“

“Great place for hotpot. Contemporary interior with iPad ordering and food flavors were super authentic. We got the 2 flavor broth - chicken chestnut & normal spicy level. And let me tell ya… the normal spicy level was SPICY. This is coming from a group of Chinese people. We went for my birthday and they had a crew come out with fun signs, birthday music, and dessert with a candle!“

“We enjoyed this restaurant. Would really give this a 4.5. We came here at about 1:05 pm on a Saturday for a 1:30 pm reservation. We were about to get seated a 5 min or so after arriving which was nice. It was surprising to see how busy it was for lunch. Due to their business, it took us several minutes to get our menus and such. We decided quickly what to eat and were able to put our order in quickly. We had the dandan noodles, soup dumplings, soup wontons, ginger spinach and rice. Everything was really tasty. We were seated in the larger, back area of the restaurant and it was a bit loud but what counted was how good the food was. Would highly recommend. I spent a lot of time in China and this food tasted like I was right back there.“

“Northern Sichuan jelly has a cool red oil flavor. The hand-shredded cabbage pot is very filling! Very appetizing! The twice-cooked pork is very generous, the meat is a little fatter, and the taste is very authentic.Green Sichuan Pepper Diving Fish, not very impressive in appearance, but the seasoning is so good that my lips are numb after eating it.The spicy pepper chicken tastes a bit like spicy chicken, I think it’s delicious! The spicy chicken is very, very tasty, and the taste is very rich, numb and spicy. The little twists inside are a surprise and delicious. The meat of chestnut braised pork should be fried first. It is very fragrant, fat but not greasy. The chestnuts are sweet and the sauce is perfect when mixed with rice.Black truffle cauliflower is a very special dish. The cauliflower is not the type that is cooked in a dry pot. It has a healthier taste and is quite delicious.Rice wine is added to the jelly, which is not very sweet. It can be used to relieve the spiciness, but it is not recommended. The beef in sour soup is super spicy and sour, very delicious. The beef chow mein was a bit salty.Potato beef is completely delicious that you can make at home. The red soup double crisp is okay. If you want to eat yellow throat and beef louver, you can try it.Husband and wife's beef slices are average.“

“Holy cow was this food delicious! But be warned, some dishes pack a punch with the deeply aromatic spices. The flavors may not jive with people looking for typical Americanized Chinese food but it is definitely worth a try. Oh and especially the dumplings in chili oil and the red bean buns for dessert. The service was friendly and prompt!“

“New Szechuan restaurant in the East Village:Good:1. Good Szechuan food; we ordered the duck, squid, potato and pumpkin soup with short ribs.2. Staff was nice.3. Restaurant was clean. Not so great:1. Pricy.2. 2 dings, the squid dish was overrun with pepper slices and not enough squid, and the duck was a bit on the dry side.Overall a good Szechuan experience and good flavored Szechuan food.“

“I was surprised of bright flavour of Szechuan Gourmet Special Fried Rice because it wasn’t cooked traditionally. It had dried baby fish and baby shrimp. Also, I liked slightly spicy Jellyfish salad. It was crunchy and without seafood flavor.“

“Dim Sum Chelsea is by far the best restaurant I've ever been to. The food quality is outstanding, with generous portions served promptly. I especially enjoyed the pork soup dumplings, chive and shrimp dumplings, and the Jumbo Shrimp with bean curd. The jumbo shrimp dish, in particular, is a must-try! Additionally, the service is impeccable, with servers who are incredibly friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Dim Sum Chelsea for a fantastic dining experience.“

“Ordered takeout, didn’t eat in. Fantastic and very authentic. Here’s a tip, if they have jellyfish on the menu, it’s a real Chinese restaurant. And if you’ve never have jellyfish, just remember, at one time sushi was new and nobody in NY would eat raw fish … until they tried it. So try the jellyfish.“

“Food has much more complex tastes than other restaurants in the area. We order sesame noodles, fried veggie dumplings and garlic tofu. They were all amazing. Highly recommend. We went Friday for lunch and the place was very sparsely populated. The service was pretty good as well.“

“Same place as Wok to Walk, but a little different. I have to say…, they made my hot and sour soup in front of me! Probably the best hot and sour soup I’ve ever gotten in New York City after living here for over 25 years. Also, the brown rice, fantastic, large portion. The cost is very inexpensive for what you get. The staff was lovely. The place is clean. I was really impressed by the new opening.“

“The food was very delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Kudos to the one who's playing the songs too. The vibes are nice. We especially loved the cripsy pork. We got skewers too and they were so good. Though the szechuan spicy pot and the extra spicy pot don't really taste that much different. But nevertheless, it was a great experience.“

“The family came here for a quick lunch before running some errands. We ordered various dry noodle bowls and a pork sandwich. The noodles were hand pulled and it went well with the sauces. The pork sandwich was delicious, crispy exterior and juicy pork filling. All in all, it was a pretty good lunch and I would return whenever I'm in the area.“
“Gem Bistro in Kearny, NJ, deserves a solid four stars from me. While the suan cai yu (pickled fish soup) fell a bit short in terms of broth and flavor, the crispy pork scoop and the fried fish filets stole the show with their excellent taste, especially the cumin-spicy flavor. The diverse menu featuring many traditional Chinese dishes adds to the appeal. With a mix of hits and misses, Gem Bistro is a gem for those seeking a variety of authentic Chinese flavors.“

“I have been coming to Pig Heaven for years. It’s one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in NYC. Everything I have had here is amazing! While I love their specialties, roast pork spare ribs and roast pork butt, their veggie dishes are equally fantastic. My go-to’s are their wonton soup, soup dumplings, prawns with broccoli, and roast pork fried rice.Service is fantastic! Mandy is “the mayor” she knows everyone and greets one with a warm welcome and attentive care. Everybody loves Mandy, she is the sweetest. Everyone who works here is kind, friendly, and helpful. You know the food is good when you eat a huge meal, but you’re also looking at everyone else’s plates for future inspiration.I’m grateful for Pig Heaven!!“

“I’m from this area and moved to Miami, which has no Szechuan Chinese. On a trip back to NYC, we went to China River based on location and reviews and it was TERRIFIC. If you are from NY or North Jersey, you know what to expect — spicy shredded beef, scallion pancakes, even delish basics like chicken and broccoli. Everything was exactly as it should be. We went back a second time before heading to JFK for the flight back to Florida.“

“Great atmosphere and great service, food is authentic and good portion size. This is also very family friendly with lots of kids on the weekends. We really love the eggplant, it’s very delicious and goes well with rice. The rice crispy sizzling plate is good but the rice crispy is not crispy enough for me. We also ordered a bowl of seafood noodles, it’s very light, which is perfect for kids. They also sell Peking duck in slices (6.99 for 2), so you don’t have to get the entire duck.
