“Had a great experience at Ichiran Ramen in New York! 🍜 The ramen was incredibly tasty, flavorful, and satisfying. I chose spice level 7 this time, and it was perfect for me—but definitely planning to try level 10 on my next visit! 🌶

I also really enjoyed the unique experience. They prepare the ramen fresh after you take your seat, and then serve it through the little shutter right in front of you. It makes the whole experience feel different and special.

“Chola is easily the best Indian restaurant in all of Manhattan and Northern Jersey. My wife and I drive in bi-weekly for their awesome food and ever changing menu. “I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.“

“This is such a lovely spot. I first tried this spot many years ago. There used to be a Polish restaurant one block south of here, Neptune. We would go there and then come to brodo and grab a broth to go, often for my dad in the VA hospital up on 23 St. few places would sell you just broth.

I absolutely love the Hearth broth and you can add the ginger turmeric, which I highly recommend. I also ordered and tried the beef broth with ginger and turmeric, it was fine. Oddly enough, the hearth had a richer, beefier flavor than the beef did. It’s just a heartier flavor, I highly recommend it. I could easily pop over to enjoy a cup of broth in place of my daily coffee, it’s a similarly comfortable cup that travels well.“

“Came here with a group of friends and had a really good hot pot meal.

The seasonal golden broth was the standout for me. It had a light pickled pepper flavor with a chicken broth base and wasn’t too spicy. The classic original broth was also flavorful and much better than a plain clear soup.

We ordered a mix of beef, lamb, shrimp paste, tripe, and other meats. Everything was fresh and the portions were generous.

We also had plenty of vegetables and noodles, including Chinese yam, pumpkin, winter melon, mushrooms, tofu, napa cabbage, and wide noodles. The pumpkin was especially good in the broth.

The restaurant feels spacious and polished, and it works really well for groups. Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh, and it’s easy to leave very full.“

5/25: Great, old school Chinese restaurant. Enter the basement restaurant via the stairs. Cash only. Fast service. Excellent menu with reasonable prices. Everything we tried was delicious, including steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, duck with flat noodles, and Szechuan shrimp. Water and hot tea free. Soft drinks are available for purchase. No alcohol. ATM on-site.“

“Simplicity done right. The soup is an ode of love to pork. The broth is delicate and light but has deep pork flavor. I could see how some people would think it’s bland though. Don’t expect big punchy flavors.

The texture of the rice is delightful and I normally don’t like short grain rice. The slices of pork meat itself is tender, not too fatty. There doesn’t seem to be much pork at first glance but there’s like 8 slices. The kimchi is bright and fresh. The gochuji chili paste is not that spicy and is both fresh and funky at the same time.

The kimchi mandoo is delicious, I like that the filling is tofu instead of meat. However, I’m not sure that $13 is worth it for 4 pieces.

We came on a Thursday at 11am and there was no wait. A line formed around 11:45. Would come back and order the soup again.“

We came in and wanted to be seated at the booth, and it was nice that the partition wall that divides each booth can be folded up if you want to sit with your party. The ramen itself was amazing, although the quality of the chashu differed with each piece. Broth was rich and addictive and would totally eat here again for the ramen itself. We also enjoyed the matcha pudding, which was a cute little dessert for us to share but I honestly wouldn't get it again. The matcha flavor wasn't particularly strong and although it wasn't sweet (which is how I prefer it) I just wouldn't get it again. 10/10 would go back if I was in the area again.“

The cucumber salad was refreshing and crunchy, while the soba was served piping hot! The dipping broth sits over a flame, keeping it hot throughout the meal. The soba noodles were chewy with a nice al dente bite, and the broth was packed with umami flavor. My only wish was that there was more meat in the broth, but overall, it was a delicious meal! My family has been coming here most weekends for years, and have never had a meal short of exceptional. The service is attentive and kind, the food is incredible and there is no feeling for us like sitting at a table in Baodega.

The food is incredible and always brings us back. The pan-fried bao on the first page of the menu and dry pot chicken or beef are standouts, but every item on the menu we’ve tried has been phenomenal.

Baodega is a very special place that deserves to be among Best Of lists. I hope it never closes. Thank you for serving the best Chinese food in the city!!!!!“
