It was my first time ever trying blue spirulina and honestly, what a way to be introduced to it. The flavor was amazing and I loved knowing I was drinking something that was actually good for me. Even the juice Beet Bop was good.

But beyond the drinks, the vibe here is something unique. The hospitality is genuine, and unlike anything you'd expect from a juice bar, it's the kind of place that has its own personality and energy.

“My first visit to Charlie Blood's definitely won’t be my last.
We started with the baked clams, which were fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick things off. The bar pie was exactly what you want from a classic Jersey tavern pie—thin, crispy, and packed with flavor.
For mains, the steak with shrimp scampi was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp scampi added that rich, buttery garlic flavor that made the whole dish stand out. The Drunken Onion Burger was another highlight—juicy, loaded with caramelized onions, and just downright satisfying. The owner even came out with some of their dessert options to try which ended the night perfectly.
The food, atmosphere, and overall experience made for a great first visit. Safe to say I’ll 100% be back to try even more on the menu. If you’re in the area and looking for great food in a classic local spot, Charlie Blood’s is absolutely worth the stop.”

The kind lady was nice enough to even make a pair of toddler-friendly chopsticks for my 3 year old using a rubberband and a small paper block on the end of the chopsticks! My toddler was thrilled to use chopsticks to eat just like her mama 😂 We had the pork ramen with white broth, which they stew for hours for maximum flavor, and the spicy salmon sushi which was made fresh and was humongous! Also grabbed a rose lemonade which was soooo good. Highlyyyy recommend!”

It has a milder flavor compared to Katz's, which I actually prefer since it allowed me to finish the whole sandwich in one go. Katz's meat is so intensely flavorful that I usually need to take a break and cleanse my palate before I can finish later. This place is a fantastic alternative if you're in Jersey. The prices are reasonable, and the 8 oz option is perfect for satisfying your craving without breaking the bank. The Knish and macaroni salad were delicious as well. They give you delicious pickles. We’ll definitely be returning often. Update January 2026. Stopped by for some pastrami sandwiches. They are still delicious and worth every penny. Hot dog special this week, $2.00. They were flavorful with an awesome snap.”

“Growing up, jelly donuts were at the bottom of my list in terms of flavors. I would eventually eat one, but it would be my last choice. A Polish coworker told me about how beloved jelly donuts are in Poland and I was skeptical of how good a jelly donut could be.

Then I found myself at Kohout Bakery and I've completely changed my tune, because damn, the raspberry jelly donuts are ridiculously good. It's the jelly. It's a very good jelly. It's not gummy or thick. It's full of raspberry flavor and there is plenty of the jelly in each donut. Even a couple of days after purchase, when the donut is a little stale, the donut is still so good because that jelly keeps the interior moist.

Other items in the store are also delicious, including the cream cheese cookies. They are not too sweet and have a great balance of flavors.

The service is very friendly and helpful, always patient with me and my indecisions.

Be prepared to bring cash, but the prices are also very affordable, so you can still get plenty of treats for under $10.

“Best Italian bread around and very reasonably priced in my opinion. Italian pastries are delicious also. Even if you don't live too close by there, it is worth a trip every once in awhile to get really good bread especially for Sunday gravy/sauce. They are open many hours so it's very convenient.”

“The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I ordered one of each of the tres leches and cuatro leches, as well as one of each flan. I also ordered the Dominican (pineapple) cake. Unfortunately, they did not have the dulce de leche Dominican cake.

Overall, I enjoyed all three Tres Leches cakes. However, I would rank the guava and strawberry varieties as my least favorites. The guava cake was sweet but lacked a distinct guava flavor. The strawberry cake tasted similar of Nestle Quik and was overly sweet.

The cuatro leches was good. It includes an additional layer of dulce de leche on top, which some may find too sweet.

The flan was average. It was a bit too thick and lacked sufficient syrup. Surprisingly, my favorite was the chocolate flan, despite not being particularly fond of chocolate.

The Dominican pineapple cake was quite disappointing. It was excessively dry and hard, lacking flavor aside from a faint hint of vanilla. I attempted to moisten it with the remaining tres leches milk, but it remained dry enough that I found myself needing a glass of milk.

I visited the store since UberEats has a huge upcharge per an item.

“In New Jersey, it’s really difficult to find appealing vegan options. This shop blows every other option in NJ out of the water!
The pizzas are delicious, my S/O and I have tried the buffalo, BBQ, pepperoni pizzas and the garlic knots and they are all so delicious!
Most of all, ever since going vegan, I just came to terms with the fact that I would never be able to have a good calzone ever again. The VEGAN CALZONES HERE ARE SO DELICIOUS and they are HUGE!!! You have to try them! And I am sure that the non-vegan options are just as delicious as it’s not so easy to have a good vegan menu but they have it down pat! I should have written this review a long time ago and for that I apologize!
The owners here are so sweet too. They are great people! Please try something from here you won’t regret it!

The decor is wonderful, as is the food. The prices are great as well. My only complaint is that I have attempted to eat in twice, only to find the doors locked both times. Once an hour before closing, the second an hour and a half before closing. I would rather give my money to a local business than something available through Uber eats. Still a great venue, and although I understand why they would close early, it is unfortunate to show up at their door and then have to walk away.”

“A lot of people think seen one Applebees you seen them all. THAT'S NOT TRUE. We stopped in today to celebrate our daughter's student of the month award from school and had a very pleasant experience from the moment we walk in to the moment we left. Firstly, we were greeted by Jerry at the host desk who was very pleasant, and smiled at us the moment we entered. We were seated right away and had a lovely lady Britney identified herself as our waitress. This Applebees was very clean, comfortable and quiet which was nice. A good value add is they have a kiosk on the table with games on it food kids to play while you wait for drinks, apps and food but be aware, these games costs 3 dollars each which will be charged to your final bill. In my opinion a few games for the kids are worth it. You can play virtual/ interactive checkers, basketball, tic tac toe and miniature golf. We ordered Applebees' legendary Long Island Ice Tea and a Bahama Mama to start with fresh mozzerella sticks. These babies are piping hot and the cheese is stringy. For main entree i had the full rack of ribs (Asian Glaze sauce) with French fries and 5 cheese bacon mac and cheese (i know i know but it called out to me). Let me tell you im a Pitmaster by trade and these ribs were ON POINT (see photos). Im talking falling off the bone, sauce perfectly caramelized onto the meat, smoke ring on the inside and beautiful char on the ends. The Mac and cheese was creamy and bacon bits still crunchy, Lawd Jesus. The wife had the shrimp Alfredo pasta with fresh garlic bread it looked so good it could have been mistaken from a dish out of Little Italy Mulberry Street herself i tell you. The baby had mac and cheese and French fries which she loved with some ketchup. DESSERT.......oh my goodness. The wife had the Triple Chocolate Meltdown which lived up to its name (see photos), warm chocolate cake even even richer warm chocolate syrup served with vanilla bean ice cream (a house favorite). I couldn't resist the Sizzlin Caramel Appple Pie (served in a small Dutch oven pan see photos) with warm caramel glaze and vanilla bean ice cream. The little one enjoyed her complimentary ice cream Sunday for being the Student of the Month in her class. As we were officially in a food coma at this point we got to the car and realized we left our daughter's little bag inside the booth. As I turned over my shoulder to head back in, JERRY came out to the car with not only her bag but also her toys we left to (smh) still with a smile. Thank you so much Jerry appreciate you going the extra mile, it left a lasting impression on us all. This is the BEST Applebees we've seen in a long looooooong time im talking overall and unparalleled service food presentation and atmosphere, it felt like more than a neighborhood bar and grille...it felt like a very upscale sports bar, thanks to the hardworking men (especially Jerry) and women (like Britney) who make that feeling possible. We shall return.”
