“Most review here are 5 stars and a random few low stars that seem to be fake reviews or people that happen to be miserable. I have been coming here for about 20 years and the quality of sushi has always been great and very fresh. The fish used for all of the sushi is always imported and prices have not changed. I have tried everything here and have not been let down. The owner is truly an expert sushi master from Japan.“

“Put this place on the map!!!! A tried a true, best of the best, MUST go to spot when visiting (or living in) NYC. No exaggeration, my boyfriend and I haven’t stopped talking about this place since we visited last year. We’ll finally be back in town next month and are beyond excited to be dining with them again. Did we book a trip just to eat here!? Maybe… probably… because seriously, this place is exceptional. The owner is the sweetest, most delightful human with an incredible story and the food/service is an unmatched experience. Plus, you simply can’t beat their affordable omakasi prices…but the bigger bonus??? BYOB. Bring your wine, bring your tequila, bring neither or bring both. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a party in the most intimate sense. I never write reviews, but Sushi YOLO is a 10/10, so please, do yourself a favor and go see them before they earn that Michelin Star!“

“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

“Great Sushi and Ramen place on Hudson Yard, been here many times. I love their new ramen Shiromaru Classic, signature maki, Suram bowl and Omakase. Their staff very friendly, helpful, great recommendation. Special thanks to Cristian and all his team, fast service.

The place is clean, and surprisingly they got bigger room inside. Cristian explained to me, the room can be booked for special event. Very nice and comfortable. ??? definitely will be back and inform my friends“

“Sushi Makoto was a very fresh experience. The selection of fish was standard but the other appetizers and dishes were unique. The vibe is awesome— with a little more intimacy than some other omakase spots in the city. As well, for the price point, the value here is great. I’ve paid more for less in the city and it feels like these days it’s hard to find “good” omakase for under $200 PP. Corkage fee is very reasonable, and their sake cooling decide is almost worth a visit in itself!

My only quarrel is that it took some time to get seated, for a reservation at 7, a lot of the guests from earlier were still dining and we weren’t sat until closer to 7:20. Which isn’t the end of the world, but something to perhaps note from a business side. Lastly, I would’ve liked to be offered more at the end of the meal instead of being given the cheque. Perhaps that’s standard protocol but it was not offered to us our evening there.

Regardless, amazing experience. Truly loved this spot.“

“I found this restaurant early this year when I got off work one day, and I come to eat here EVERY week since then. No kidding, I love this place. The food is very authentic, the music here is always a happy surprise to my ear, price is very reasonable, and mostly importantly - I LOVE the owners here! I speaks a little bit of Korean so they were kinda shocked the first time I say hi to them in Korean. But even if you don't speak any of their language, they are always so freaking nice and kind!!! They have a lot of returning customers, they chat with everyone that comes in and treating others like their friends and family. They learned my name the second time I came, and now I have been coming here for about 3 month straight and they are seeing me as their little sister. I will keep visiting this place and bring my friends here too. I hope they are doing well and their business is growing. Much love,

“I had an issue with an excess charge on my credit card for a take out order. The owner contacted me and investigated it. He refunded the excess amount and I'm glad they are on top of it. Great customer service and really wanting to make things right.
Overall, I enjoy eating here and I've recommended it to my family and friends. I have tried a couple of their dishes and they are popular for their handroll. Sushi set is also a must. The sea bass is my fave, it just takes a while to be cook because they grill it. My bf likes the hormone don. A good spot for those who wants to try korean/ japanese fusion dish. “Service was very nice, prepared alternative for shellfish allergy. The chef was very cute, he seemed to really enjoy his work, and it was contagious. Food was delicious, one of my alternatives was a wagyu hand roll which was delicious. Presentation was amazing, the gold sprayed nigiri was a spectacular showing. There was also an engagement close by which was really cool, they had a firework show. Overall, I’d like to go again! Thank you to Eric and the chef whose name I didn’t catch.“

“Small restaurant but big flavor.

The chicken teriyaki box is a great deal served fresh with fantastic flavor and came with so many delicious sides. I also tried a couple of sushi rolls and seems like you can't go wrong with any options. I haven't had fresh cuts of fish like that anywhere else! Definitely recommend!“

“A Hidden Gem Near Pod Hotel

We stumbled upon this cozy spot near our hotel and had an early dinner. The place was quiet at first, perfect for conversation, but it filled up quickly by the time we left.

Service was prompt and friendly. I enjoyed their Platinum Sake, while my boyfriend tried the Japanese IPA—both excellent choices.

For starters, we had pork gyoza, edamame, and uni croquette. Each dish was comforting and satisfying. For mains, I went with the veggie curry rice from their specials—light, flavorful, and perfectly spicy. My boyfriend had udon soup with shrimp and egg, adding a bit of chili oil for an extra kick.

This was one of the best meals we’ve had in NYC, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for such high-quality food. It brought back fond memories of Japan.“

“I wish I took before pictures of our food. We stopped in after a very long day out and about and the food was so good that we left feeling energized. We got the ocean roll, pork buns, tonkotsu ramen and a spicy tuna onigiri. Everything was delicious!!

The ocean roll was fresh and tasty, the pork buns were just delicious, the ramen was so so amazing- the pork was tender, the broth was so flavorful and all the add ins just did wonders for the the flavor and the spicy tuna onigiri was hands down one of the best we’ve had.

The service was also great! The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was on par and so cute! We cannot wait to come back and are so happy we found our new go to spot 🤗

“A very popular spot smack dab in the middle of Midtown's financial district. Honestly quite reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. I got the Brooklyn set which came with a delectable pork katsu, two fried chicken karage pieces, potato salad, and a surprisingly hearty soup too. “It was a great experience for our family. It was the first time for my son to have hibachi and he loved the tricks and entertainment that came with it. Both of our servers were very attentive. Our cook was very sociable and he paid extra attention to our son, even giving him corn and extra vegetables. To top it off he wrote “I ❤️ U” with the food. The meats were very well flavored and yummy. The place was very full and crowded. It was hard to hear our conversation.“

“Amazing experience at Sushi Yasuda! My chef Moriyama from Kagoshima prefecture was perfect, a typical Kyushu man with a great personality and spectacular at serving up delicious sushi. My server Tsuzumi from Okinawa prefecure was also very attentive and did a fantastic job making sure we had everything that we needed. The whole team was amazing, I’ve eaten sushi in every corner of the world, including Japan, and I can safely say that Sushi Yasuda is up there with the best! Thank you again.“

“This is a great find. Walking up and realizing that there are literally 8 couriers there picking up take out deliveries tells you everything about how good the food is. Loved the fresh fish choices and the atmosphere is on point. Everything we tried was great.“

Only slightly minor quibble was everything seemed a bit rushed and a little less peaceful than other places I've been to, but fair enough at that price. I was also a bit surprised at the rudeness of a customer talking on her phone when the staff were trying to engage her. That's not the restaurant's fault but maybe worth having a sign about using phones less and being in the moment more?!“

“So, let's start with the ramen, I ordered the duck based one. The flavor was just not there and it was under seasoned. Had to add soy sauce because I found a hair in the salt container . I also ordered the beef skewers . Very low quality meat very chewy but I would expect it for 8usd for 2 skewers. The shitske was an extra 3.5 to add on my ramen . With green tea my meal was 32 USD. I expect a lot more for that price.“

“My recent visit to TABERU NOMU was an absolute treat! I started with the Pickle Vegetable and Seaweed Salad, both of which were refreshing. The standout dishes for me were the Katsurahama and Kataonami; the former a delightful mix of salmon, hotate, ikura, yellowtail, tuna, ika, botan ebi, and shiso leaves, and the latter a luxurious combination of crab, ikura, uni, and shiso leaves served over rice. Both dishes were exquisitely balanced, showcasing the freshness and quality of the seafood.

The Matcha Mont Blanc Cake was a perfect ending to the meal, with its delicate flavor and smooth texture, while the Melon Cream Soda provided a nostalgic and sweet touch to the dining experience.
