“I am a local resident of Garfield. I enjoy and appreciate Sushi Boy when I can get in. It is a quiet and beautiful venue when you have the opportunity to eat in. The decor is wonderful, as is the food. The prices are great as well. My only complaint is that I have attempted to eat in twice, only to find the doors locked both times. Once an hour before closing, the second an hour and a half before closing. I would rather give my money to a local business than something available through Uber eats. Still a great venue, and although I understand why they would close early, it is unfortunate to show up at their door and then have to walk away.“

“I've been to a dozen omakase places across nyc and japan, and this is a standout gem. Chef takes a modern approach to sushi with his own style, but preserves the essence of sushi. The flavors are elegant, layered, and delicious.

Standouts include the black cod with black truffle, trout (smoked?), hokkaido scallop with hokkaido uni, fish with bottarga and foie gras, and all kinds of toro (tuna).“

“This small space tucked away on the side hides a tiny sushi bar. They have excellent staff, very friendly. I ordered a roll and they gave a miso soup along with it that wasn't on the menu.
The sushi is very fresh and even the chirashi keeps well in the fridge. The rice doesn't get too dry and the fish has no odor to it. If you want, there is a table and chair right outside, but this place is pretty much all take out.“

“Many people seem to enjoy this place, and there is a good variety of food and drinks. The food was generally quite good, except for the jjimdak (steamed chicken). It looked amazing in the menu photos, but it arrived undercooked and had to be cooked longer at our table, which took quite a while. The restaurant was very busy on a Friday night, with people waiting for tables. Because of that, it felt like there was some pressure to finish and leave rather than relax and stay for a long conversation. “It was a decent experience with A LOT of rice. The service was good and the food was fresh. They don’t have sashimi on the menu (I get it, it’s a business). I’d say 70-80% of the menu is rice/carb heavy.

The novelty of the conveyor belt is kind of whatever. You have to get use to eating and looking out for food coming in or the server will come and remind you. You can’t even see the food coming on the higher conveyor belt level because it’s so high up. 90 minute limit, no food left behind.

I just hope they wipe down the ipad after each customer, it’s a lot of touching.“
