“The food was wonderful and the ambiance lovely. The service pretty attentive and cheerful. But the desserts were overpriced and not worth it. Try the udon noodle with mushroooms. . yumm.“

“I’ve lived on the Upper West Side for four years now, and Sushi W hasn’t raised their lunch set prices once in all that time—a truly remarkable business practice.
Lately, they’ve also introduced a sake tasting and regional showcase series, offering complimentary sake and seasonal fish from specific regions.
Every visit to Sushi W is a delight; the experience never ceases to amaze me. A huge thank you to Yon-San for continuously delivering such an wonderful experience for us!“

“We were very lucky to have found Sushi YOLO after a last-minute decision to extend our evening in the city. It was an incredible experience all throughout: a homey vibe with great attention to detail from Chef and the entire team and, of course, delicious courses!
We plan to come back to Sushi YOLO when we are in the city again.“

“We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Fushimi Restaurant! The food was delicious, from the appetizers we ordered to our main course. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. We also enjoyed a couple of drinks, which perfectly complemented our meal. What truly made our visit exceptional was the incredible service provided by our waitress, Ohmie. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Her warm demeanor and professionalism truly elevated our dining experience. We strongly recommend Fushimi Restaurant, especially because of the outstanding service we received from Ohmie. We’ll definitely be back!“

“Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish! The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish we ordered exceeded our expectations and showcased the quality and care that goes into the food.
The service was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and professional without ever feeling intrusive. The staff made us feel welcome and ensured everything was perfect throughout our meal.
The atmosphere was the finishing touch: clean, elegant, and relaxing, creating the perfect setting for a great dining experience. It’s rare to find a restaurant where the food, service, and ambiance are all exceptional, but this place delivered on every level. Highly recommended, and I can’t wait to come back!“

“I've been to a dozen omakase places across nyc and japan, and this is a standout gem. Chef takes a modern approach to sushi with his own style, but preserves the essence of sushi. The flavors are elegant, layered, and delicious.
Standouts include the black cod with black truffle, trout (smoked?), hokkaido scallop with hokkaido uni, fish with bottarga and foie gras, and all kinds of toro (tuna).“

“Fabulous, in every way. Kinoko was amazing, deluxe sushi plate included more sashimi than advertised, including rarities like snapper and 3 different grades of tuna. Reasonably priced saki and the matcha tiramisu was decadent with perfect lady fingers. One of the best sushi meals of my life.“

“Such a lovely sushi bar! I told the chef that I really love scallops, and he kindly suggested that I try their secret chirashi bowl. When I saw it, I honestly didn’t even want to touch it at first because it looked so beautiful and carefully arranged — like a piece of art. But after the first bite, I understood why he recommended it. The scallops were incredibly fresh and sweet, and the toro was rich, fatty, and buttery. Every piece tasted amazing. What really surprised me was the rice — perfectly seasoned and textured, honestly omakase-level sushi rice, which made the whole bowl even better.
You can really tell the chef puts a lot of care into every detail. Such a thoughtful little hidden gem. I’ll definitely be back! 🍣“

“Many people seem to enjoy this place, and there is a good variety of food and drinks. The food was generally quite good, except for the jjimdak (steamed chicken). It looked amazing in the menu photos, but it arrived undercooked and had to be cooked longer at our table, which took quite a while. When it was done. it was also a bit spicier than we expected as well
The restaurant was very busy on a Friday night, with people waiting for tables. Because of that, it felt like there was some pressure to finish and leave rather than relax and stay for a long conversation. In that sense, it felt more like a traditional Korean restaurant than a bar where you can sit with friends and talk for hours. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good, but the dining experience felt a bit rushed.“

“Excellent and comfortable affordable“
“This place just opened 6 months ago but the omakase is incredible. 75$ for 13 courses with the different combinations and flavors they put together with the freshest ingredients is hard to come by. If you are going to a Broadway show or are near time square and want a memorable omakase experience to round out your night you can’t go wrong here. I highly recommend it. The cost and location for the incredible experience can’t be beat. Our favorite bites were the shrimp and foie gras and the lean tuna with truffle mushroom. On top of that the environment is an intimate sushi bar setting with just 20 seats so you can see the sushi artist in action from any seat you’re in. 10/10 will definitely be back as soon as we can.“

“Simply superb. The fish and shellfish are pristine. The chefs are skilled and approachable. The servers are helpful and gracious. While not “inexpensive,” I believe it’s a value for what is delivered. I’ve been three times—just last night for the first time, I’m sorry to say, since COVID—and each time was exquisite. Beyond highly recommended. A treasure.“

“Had a fantastic time for our first experience here. Every piece was fresh, my ginger plate never empty (and I never had to ask), and the price is unmatched for the quality.
My favorite pieces were the botan ebi (shrimp), hotate (scallop), and the chu toro. I’m honestly surprised that shrimp made my list, as it isn’t typically a nigiri I enjoy. But this was so fresh, so delicate, and raw — as it should be! I also ordered the special hotaru ika (firefly squid) and kinmadei (red snapper). The ika was particularly unique, but the snapper was my preference of the two special items I ordered at the end.
Husband loved the chu toro. Shoutout to the toro handroll as well.
The sake we ordered — Kikusui Junmai — was light, crisp, dry, and slightly nutty, just like I like it. It paired excellently with the menu.
A group of girls next to us were celebrating a birthday and the sushi creation they made for the birthday girl was stunning. I saw it had toro and caviar and a few other things I couldn’t tell from my vantage point. They finished it off with a quick spray of gold glitter. A beautiful touch.
We are eager to go back and to bring our friends! What a gem to have in the neighborhood. Go go go!
Not pictured: eel, ikura (YUM), chutoro handroll (sorry!)“

“I have been going to Sushi by Sea regularly since discovering it in 2023. The sushi is exceptional— the quality is as good as I’ve ever had and Chris, the chef/owner, adds unique and innovative touches to each dish. The environment is fun and lively, and is always unique. The menu changes regularly so no experience is ever the same. Highly recommend to any sushi lover that also likes to have a fun time.“
“The food was fresh. I tried a mix of sushi, rolls, and a few hot dishes, and everything tasted amazing. What really stood out to me was the service, Maria. Even though it was busy, Maria was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly, which I appreciated. I also love how easy it is to grab what you want or order from the screen“

“Delightful! We were in early after a day of hoofing all over mid-town. We were greeted by our server and seated immediately (like I said, It was early) but un-rushed as we reviewed our options. We both ordered sushi-sashimi combinations as well as gyoza to keep it light. All excellent! The fish was so fresh and perfectly sliced/prepared. An avocado green salad was crisp, fresh and more than enough. The gyoza was obviously made with care, moist and tender. My wine accompaniment rounded out our meal. Our server was charming and helpful“

“Great friendly service. This used to be our local hidden gem. It's not hidden anymore. Reasonable priced Omakase with an ever changing selection of fish. Always get the kobe steak add on, it's a must. I've been here at least 20 times and I look forward to going back again and again.
Please note this review was for the previous restaurant in this location Mojo Omakase. I visited Sour Aji and the review would be much lower.“

“I got so lucky when I randomly stumbled upon this place while getting lunch at work. As someone who loves chicken teriyaki trust me when I say you must try theirs. I have been searching for the last few years all around the bergen county area for the best chicken teriyaki and I have found it here. This is my absolute favorite! I have tried probably 50+ restaurants and nothing can beat this. From the way they prepare chicken, to the homemade sauce they use, the perfectly cooked rice and the avocado, egg and dumplings they add on.... it is one of the greatest combinations i've ever tasted. On top of that, their sushi is always delicious and fresh. If thats not enough, they also have fantastic owners and workers there. I always get a warm greeting, and they're thankful for my patronage. Fantastic all around. I will be back soon... My favorite sushi spot!“

“It was a decent experience with A LOT of rice. The service was good and the food was fresh. They don’t have sashimi on the menu (I get it, it’s a business). I’d say 70-80% of the menu is rice/carb heavy.
The novelty of the conveyor belt is kind of whatever. You have to get use to eating and looking out for food coming in or the server will come and remind you. You can’t even see the food coming on the higher conveyor belt level because it’s so high up. 90 minute limit, no food left behind.
I just hope they wipe down the ipad after each customer, it’s a lot of touching.“

“The best omakase in the city! I’ve celebrated bdays and anniversaries here and brought many out-of-town visitors because the quality is unmatched. “My wife and I came here because we heard great things and I have to say, everything lived up to the hype! The food was excellent and the service was absolutely next level! Co (Ko?) and Vanessa were so attentive and caring. We never had to ask for anything - it’s like they read our minds. They were so kind and made us feel at home and they were extremely knowledgeable about the food that was served. They absolutely made our night; it had been quite some time since we’ve had so much fun! We will be back!“

“I ordered the two-roll sushi combo with a California roll and a salmon avocado roll, and both were incredibly fresh and delicious. I also got the green salad with ginger dressing, which tasted so fresh and flavorful. The shrimp shumai were honestly addictive. They also included veggie gyoza and miso soup on the house, and both were delicious as well. Everything tasted fresh and well made, and I will definitely be returning to Kame Sushi.“

“I’ve been coming to Sushi Story since the day it opened, and it continues to impress every single time. The first thing that stood out to me was the service—warm, immediate, and sincere. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted and made to feel welcome. The waitresses are consistently polite, attentive, and always carry a genuine smile. In particular, the waitress with the slicked-back hair has a way of elevating every visit; she’s made several special occasions truly memorable. The restaurant is almost always busy, and for good reason. Because seating can be difficult to secure, I strongly recommend making an RSVP ahead of time. Even with the constant flow of guests, the experience never feels rushed. The master sushi chef is actively engaged with diners, adding an extra touch of authenticity and hospitality to the meal. As for the food—exceptional. The salmon and tuna are always fresh, vibrant, and prepared perfectly. It’s easily one of the best places to enjoy a great evening out with family or friends. And don’t forget: it’s BYOB, so feel free to bring your favorite bottle of wine. Sushi Story is truly a gem, and I look forward to visiting again very soon.“

“Koete Omakase provides a traditional sushi omakase experience. There are many omakase spots in NYC, and I chose this spot because I heard they source their fish from the Toyosu market in Tokyo. Currently they charge $140/person for 15 course. From my research for nyc omakase, this is middle range pricing. I also specifically chose Koete Omakase due to their middle range pricing, hoping to have a better experience than the lower pricing spots.
How was it? It was good! Definitely some high quality nigiri and sushi. The experience lasted 1 hour and 30 mins. I dont know what it was, again the experience was good, but it wasnt amazing. Im not sure how much better this spot is compared to the cheaper spots (priced at around $80/person). But I definitely left feeling like my pocket made some sacrifice for this. To be more straightforward, I just feel like it was a bit overpriced.
Koete Omakase again serves some good high quality sushi. But for $140/person, when there are other omakase spots that charge for way cheaper (and probably similar or the same quality), I have mixed feelings. If youre in Times Square, want an omakase, and dont mind the price, definitely come here!“

updating review on 5/7 : i gave them another chance, lovely bowl. I think I was getting the wrong thing previously, the Hawaiian bowl or something, where they cooking the shrimp in a way I did not like. I got their poke bowl and it's very tasty and filling. I would give 5 stars, but to balance, I'll give 4.“

“I am a local resident of Garfield. I enjoy and appreciate Sushi Boy when I can get in. It is a quiet and beautiful venue when you have the opportunity to eat in. The decor is wonderful, as is the food. The prices are great as well. My only complaint is that I have attempted to eat in twice, only to find the doors locked both times. Once an hour before closing, the second an hour and a half before closing. I would rather give my money to a local business than something available through Uber eats. Still a great venue, and although I understand why they would close early, it is unfortunate to show up at their door and then have to walk away.“
