“Some of you coming from TikTok or insta need to lower your expectations a bit. This is a tiny 2 people run cafe serving home style Japanese sandwiches and ramen not a fancy omakase restaurant. It was never meant to handle this volume of business and some of you complaining about the owner’s attitude need to think about this from the owner’s perspective a bit. I came on a pretty busy day and witnessed this man dealing with a bunch of high school kids going in and out of his shop asking for a million things but got forbid the man’s a little cranky bc heck I would’ve told them to get out. But he still served them and served me and apologized for the wait which I greatly appreciated. And was it the best sandwich and ramen I’ve ever had? No but it was pretty dang good for a cafe in the middle of Queens. Some of y’all need to chill.“

“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

“I came here a friend and had 2 rolls (salmon and tuna), one sea urchin, and one wagyu single piece. All the food was incredible. Some of the best sushi I've had in my life. My friend had 2 vegetarian rolls, which both were delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys higher quality sushi, especially at lunch since they have some discounted rolls.“

“This is such a cute place and the food was delicious! I came here for dinner with a friend and I got the Crispy and Spicy Sesame Chicken Donburi which was divine. The decor inside is super cute and cozy plus the service is excellent — they were so welcoming and efficient. Didn’t try the ramen this time but my friend did and it looked amazing. “Amazing meal. The restaurant is just staffed by the host and the chef, but the service is impressively attentive. The host noticed I was left-handed and switched my place setting to accommodate that. The meal started with a puree of Japanese sweet potato with toppings like small rice crackers and ikura. Very refreshing and delicious! We then got 4 small dishes- grilled fish with peas and fish cake, fluke, soba with fresh shiitake, and water eggplant.
Then we had 8 courses of tempura- anago, peppers, shrimp, scallop, eggplant, crab, sweet potato, and seaweed with uni on it. This was followed by rice with wagyu beef and a dessert of strawberry and adzuki. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The service was what really made the evening special- each dish was carefully explained, including what seasoning we should use to accompany the dish and everything was conveyed with warmth and a touch of humor. This place is a gem. Thank you for such an amazing meal!“

“Lingo was the perfect choice for a special celebration. I brought my daughter here and the night was great. It’s a beautiful space, genuinely warm and personable staff, and excellent Japanese-inflected food with a creative twist.

We did have one miss: the ribs were too fatty for our taste. But here's where Lingo service stepped in. Without any fuss, they took the dish off the bill and were so gracious about it. That kind of hospitality is rare and says a lot about how they run their restaurant.

“Best omakase I’ve ever had in my life and we’ve had omakase all over across the country!

We only did the 12 course and regretted not doing the 17. We came for lunch at 12:30 on a Saturday and it was empty! Not many places open for lunch so I appreciated that they have lunch service. They also gave us some mochi for dessert to celebrate our honeymoon.

I’ll always recommend this spot and plan to visit every time I’m in New York.“

“Mikado Sushi has become one of my go-to lunch sushi spots. The sushi is always fresh and consistently good, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

I especially appreciated their service on one occasion when I accidentally placed my order at a different Mikado location. The staff went out of their way to communicate with the other location and helped remake my order for me. They handled the situation so smoothly and were very accommodating throughout.

Great food, great consistency, and genuinely excellent service. Highly recommend!“

Music was dialed in for the Brooklyn crowd. Request the back patio for a cozy vibe.

We got the crudo, pork loin, mandu, scallop, and ramen and each was a hit in their own way. Really loved the mandu for being equally Korean and Japanese stylistically (the tuile is very clever!), and the scallop was the best I've had in a long, long time.

“My friends and I decided to visit Tomoni after a Japanese chef recommended it as one of his personal favorites in NYC, and I am so glad we took his advice. Standing outside, the restaurant immediately stood out because its sleek, modern facade was such a striking contrast to the surrounding worn-out exteriors. My initial impression was that if a place invests this much care into its presentation, the food is bound to be good. If this spot were located in Manhattan, there would undoubtedly be a line wrapped around the block.
Stepping inside, the interior felt incredibly deliberate and well-designed. Every single detail showed intention, from the rich maroon furniture and deep green brand colors to the playful squiggly logo, displayed vinyl record albums, and even the tactile texture of the menus and plates. The staff and servers were also super sweet and welcoming throughout our meal.
For our food, we ordered the two seasonal specials (the Double Thick-Cut Katsu Don and the Cream Udon), along with the Assorted Sashimi, Una-Tama Donburi, and the Mixed Fry Set. Every dish was outstanding. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh without a hint of fishiness, and the eel in the Una-Tama Donburi was perfectly balanced rather than plastered in heavy sauce. It was a well-executed lineup that I cannot imagine disappointing anyone.
While I did not use the restroom personally, my friend mentioned it was spotless, which completely aligns with how impeccably clean and well-maintained the rest of the dining area is. I am already looking forward to returning to try the rest of the menu.“

“This was the coolest and most unique dining experience I’ve ever had. It was also the most expensive I’ve ever done, but by the end I was convinced it was worth every penny and they could be charging a lot more and it’d still be worth it.

I went for my partners birthday and two others were celebrating their birthday and the dessert course (which was insane how good it was) had a candle and they brought little cocktails to everyone and we all cheered to the birthday people by name.

We got the alcohol beverage pairing which I highly recommend. First cocktail is shown here and then a few more of the glasses.

Service was impeccable and genuine. Especially Kiyomi (guessing on spelling), her warmth and kind banter put us at ease and we were talking about her all night.

“We ordered the Duck Shio Soba and Salmon Ikura Soba. The food was overall good. Wished the Duck Shio was sent out hotter as it arrived lukewarm and took quite some time to come out. The Salmon Ikura Soba on the other hand was great and tasted fresh.

Service was alright. I don’t think our server realized we were waiting over 30 minutes for our food. The overall cost was also a bit steep.“
