“I have been going to this spot for years. The old couple who used to own the place sold it, and currently in the hands of new owners. Great food, great vibes, reasonable prices. Wait staff is great, especially the petite Hispanic lady very attentive and generous with portions. My go to spot when I'm craving for some Pork belly bbq. 100% recommend.
Not kid friendly though, young kids / toddlers can easily burn themselves in the hot plate in the middle of the table.“
“The atmosphere of the restaurant with the friendliness and stories from the chef makes this a must go for any fan of korean cooking or cooking in general. Chef encourages questions between meals and each meal has a speech before it. Really wonderful time“

“We had our lunch here in Auust 2014. We ordered the Korean tofu soup and bibimbap with oyster. The food was perfectly cooked and the service was friendly. It was like home cooking, and the favor would not overpower the taste. The price was reasonable. Will definitely return for this genuine Korean cooking.“

“This is a traditional Korean restaurant and it’s been there around a decade. They have various dishes from BBQ to pot strews. Their stir fry spicy squid is the best I ever tasted in Korean style.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. I recommend this place if you want to hangout with few friends or families.“

“The 파전 (Korean Scallion Pancake) was amazing, super crunchy on the outside, thick and satisfying on the inside, just the way it should be. Perfectly golden and packed with flavor. The 매운곰탕 (Spicy Beef Bone Soup) is hands down our favorite, rich, spicy, and deeply comforting. Service was kind and attentive. Definitely coming back!“

“Steamed dumplings & steamed kimchi dumplings are so good! They were perfectly steamed & moist inside. Quite light (Which means you can eat more hahaha) since the dumpling skins are thin and the stuffing has more veg and sweet potato starch noodle than meat. One personal disappointment was the dipping sauce is too sweet for me. Looking forward to try other menu items next time!“

“My husband and I stopped here for lunch today before heading to a concert at Forest Hills Stadium. The food was SO good with great portion sizes. We enjoyed the atmosphere even coming in at lunchtime, and the staff were great. We will definitely come here again and recommend it to others.“

“Overall, the food was tasty, the grilled chicken feet was a bit too spicy for some people. The portion was pretty satisfying. The only thing is that they included taxes in the total but didn't indicate that on the bill, so I calculated the tips based on the total, which means I gave extra tips…“

“Tasty old Korean Chinese style! Don’t trust google rate 100%. Many times, rates don’t represent their whole qualities. Personally I care taste first for restaurants. Some folks just focus the rates only instead of tastes. Try this store if you care taste first“

“I was visiting New York for the 4th of July holiday and went here for dinner. It was $30 per person which is more reasonable than most Korean buffets I've eaten at. The food was fantastic this was one of the best Korean barbecues I've been to. They had a huge variety. All the food was fresh and very tasty. The next time I visit New York I will definitely return here again!“

“They serve a wide variety of side dishes, about a dozen in total, and almost all taste pretty good. An aunty will help grill the meat, though when it’s busy she might not be able to keep up. The grill runs quiet hot so can enjoy the meat quickly. I highly recommend the G3, the meat is wonderfully tender. Surprisingly, the yukgaejang is reall spicy yet tasty, but if can’t handle spice it’s better to skip it.“

“This is my go to place, food is excellent, I tried multiple things on the menu and they're all great. I mostly do take out. I would love to eat in but this place is like a hole in the wall small. Place itself is very clean, cute and cozy, it just that it is really small so there are like maybe 3 tables, so you would have to be lucky to walk in when it's slow so you can get a table.“

“Food was very good! Portions were bigger than expected. The dumplings had thin wrappers and a crispy crunch. I very much enjoyed them. The Bimbimbap was flavorful. The Burger Steaks were a bit sweet which was unexpected, but yummy. The cold pasta salad was very refreshing, slightly sweet and had a good balance of all the flavors and veggies. I'm not a fan of cold macaroni salad, but this one was so tasty. The fish cake had a nice soy sauce brine. I have never had a fish cake with that depth of flavor in it. The kimchi had a good crunch. All of the foods balanced each other out and I left with a satisfied palate.
The restaurant plays soft music and it felt very much relaxing. Service was very good. They were very kind and had great smiles. They were very sweet. Made me feel welcomed. I'd come back here and try more foods!“

“Ordered takeout from Don Chicken on Northern Blvd and went for the Spicy Soy Garlic Chicken and it did not disappoint. The pieces were pretty big, juicy inside, and had that trademark Korean fried chicken crunch: thin, shatter-crispy, never greasy. The soy garlic glaze was spot on savory, garlicky, with just enough kick to keep me reaching for another bite.
I also tried the Sweet & Spicy flavor not bad at all, just leaned sweeter than what I usually like.
What I really appreciate is how Korean fried chicken is different from the fried chicken most of us grew up with. Instead of a thick, heavy batter, it’s double-fried a method that actually came about in Korea in the 1960s and 70s when fried chicken started getting popular alongside beer (“chimaek,” short for chicken + maekju/beer, is now a whole culture). That double fry gives you the crunch without the grease, and the sauces like this soy garlic add layered flavor instead of just salt and breading.
For takeout, it traveled well too the chicken stayed crisp even by the time I got home, which tells you they’re doing it right. Generous portions, bold flavor, and that authentic K-fried crispness make the spicy soy garlic the clear winner for me.“

“Definitely one of the underrated restaurants in flushing. I love this restaurant, very small and old store but the food and service were amazing. Everything we ordered was tasty and the quantity was so much that we had to take it out in to-go box“

“Really small, casual place. Pretty cheap food relative to other korean spots. The owner clearly puts some effort into food presentation. Really nice staff.
The meat portions were a little small but otherwise is a great spot to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Just have normal expectations.“

“I recently dined at this fantastic Korean restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The food is absolutely excellent, with rich flavors and authentic dishes that truly stand out. The portions are incredibly generous, ensuring you leave fully satisfied.
The staff are exceptionally pleasant and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Plus, the prices are very reasonable, offering great value for the quality and quantity of food you receive.
While the decor might be a bit outdated, don't let it discourage you. Besides, the delicious food more than makes up for it. An added bonus is the free parking, which is a rare find and makes the visit even more convenient.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy some top-notch Korean cuisine without breaking the bank.“

“This is a casual restaurant with plenty of seating options for small groups. There seemed to be two people working when I went- one cook and one host. The host was kind, though sat behind a tall table that kept him out of view. I saw another customer raising their hand trying to get his attention to no avail. Seems best to go directly to the host if you need anything.
We ordered the tteokbokki with mozzarella, seafood soft tofu soup, seafood pancake, and bibimbap, though not all pictured. Out of everything, the soft tofu soup had the perfect kick to it without being too spicy. (Note: I do not handle spicy well). The tteokbokki was very mild, even without the mozzarella.“

“Posting review while enjoying the food. This place is amazing. Freshly-made kimbap, generous portions for an amazing price, and excellent miso soup. Really had mom and pop shop feel with actual Koreans running it (not that that should matter per se). Everyone behind the counter was so sweet, too. We had the vegetarian and mushroom kimbaps (latter has fish cake) to meet the $10 minimum for paying by credit card, both were very satisfying.
For the price and quality and just the feel of supporting a local shop, I definitely want to come back often.“

“A little hole-in-the wall Korean joint near the 7 train/LIRR stop in Woodside Queens. I stop there a couple of times a week after work to pickup dinner. There aren’t any sit-down tables, but the food more than makes up for it. The classic Korean dishes are delicious and satisfying. I love how generous they are with the veggies. Everything is fresh and homemade. The people here are always so kind and welcoming too. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic, no-frills, tasty Korean food!“
“Brand new. When I walked in, they informed me they just opened the day prior. They even had trouble navigating some of the prices on the register, but overall, were very helpful and nice. They have an area just for side dishes, and some main dishes in the middle. When I came, they were still cooking, so the ideal time to go is around 12:30 - 1:00 to see what they have to offer.“

“TLDR: If you're looking for that local hole in the wall - this is a great spot. Stick with the soups and definitely get that spicy pork bulgogi aka jaeyuk bokkeum.
It's tiny and it's a husband/wife team, so if you're trying to be in/out; not the place for that. I've been back twice and I loved it both times.
The dakgaejang (spicy chicken soup) was one of my favorite things. The broth is very flavorful and there's a lot of spice in it. They have some more traditional soups like the black goat or loach. So if you're in a soup and rice mood, this will hit.
Definitely get the jaeyuk bokkeum. The way they slice the pork here and stir-fry it with the larger onion dice - it's very unique and just so good.
NYC needs more places like this. I will return again for sure and try some of the other items on the menu.“

“Pros:
Banchan are all very tasty.
Tofu soups are all tasty.
Prices are more than fair for the amount of food you get
Cons:
No AC, at least one fly flying around
Japchae watery and not that flavorful
Seafood pancake soggy and unevenly cooked
The fried stuff in the bento box were slightly bitter“

“I took my MIL to a korean bbq. It was 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids (12 & 8 yo). There was lots of food that we enjoyed, and it was a charcoal grill, not a gas grill. The kal-bi took some some time to be cooked, but so what? It was really amazing. Since I hate "sweet" food (hate bulgogi), this place was the perfect place for me. The kalbi sauce was just amazing. There were lots of side dishes, and the ladies were super nice.
No pictures - sorry... we were just busy enjoying the food..
Parking: The parking is right behind the restaurants and connected to the restaurants directly. It was drizzled but didn't have to deal with it!“

“I’ve ordered the marinated crabs multiple times with no issues. Sometimes there is a lot of roe, sometimes there isn’t, it just depends on the season.
The flavoring is not too fishy, or salty. Perfect when eaten with rice!“

“i don’t know what these low ratings are about. My friend and i stumbled in when we realized the hot pot place next door that we had originally intended on going to was all you can eat and we were about to go on a 5 hour drive so we most CeRtainly could not eat all that we wanted. In distress and disarray we wandered down the street in search of a quick and delicious meal. And man, oh, man - Gahwa fulfilled our wants, needs, and fantasies. All of our desires served to us in the form of white oxtail broth soup, incredible kimchi, and sizzling bibimbap. Long story short - this place slaps.“

“This was our fourth time here, The service is acceptable, the food is delicious and the place is pleasant at all times.
I don't give it 5 stars because sometimes it takes a long time, especially for the pasta we ordered "Jampchae".
The wings are fantastic, crispy, tasty and always come with a delicious accompaniment.
The japchae is very delicious, the pasta is just right and the meat is tender, but it works well to eat it together with the wings, they are a perfect complement. Alone it can be a bit harassing.
For drinks, we have tried some very tasty cocktails but if you do not wish to drink alcohol, the Shirley Temple is highly recommended. It is refreshing, sweet and goes well with any meal.
In any case, better to go at night to try the wings and cocktails!“

“I have been to a lot of Korean BBQ place, but this one is special for me for 2 reasons:
1- I’m with my Korean friends, who can teach me how to eat like Korean.
2- the special leaves is really for my liking.
Good sake bomb, friends and good laughs, with cold noodles and mustard to finish off the meal, a great experience!“

“Came here on a weekday for business and stopped by for lunch. Ordered Galbi tang and Dolsot bibimbab. I was surprised how good the food was since it is located in a food court and usually food court food is not so great. It was restaurant grade food. Person taking the order was very nice.
The only issue would be not related to the food, but the food court . The bathroom was so gross. 🤢
Go for the food, but skip the barhroom trip if possible.“

“I’ve been patronizing this resistance their inception. And it has been solid and consistent. You won’t regret your visit here and your craving for sashimi will be satisfied.
There are other restaurants who can ‘outperform’ Dokdoya with the sashimi’s quality, selection and presentation. But their side dishes are one of the best in the tristate. And their complimentary soups are always superb.“

“I’ve tried this restaurant a couple of times so far. Raw foods, especially crab and shrimp, is not to everyone’s liking, and two people I was with only had the cooked foods as raw shellfish is a health risk for anyone who can’t take the risk (eg pregnant or with autoimmune deficiencies). I didn’t like the spicy crab, just too much spice/sauce overtaking the crab itself. I love the soy marinade though, it’s light yet flavorful. I am really getting accustomed to the texture of the raw crab so I intend to return again. I would love to try the salmon bowl. Staff is friendly and accommodating, I had to change the amount of people for my reservation once at arrival and they accommodated me without a huff or puff.“
