“Amazing and inventive Korean food in the East Village. Must-have starter is the scallop DIY gimbap where you create your own bites with seaweed. Great combination of sauces gives it an incredible umami mouthfeel.
For entrees, dolsot al-bop has the uni flavor in the form of bibimbop, served in a sizzling bowl. And the fried soft-shell crab is to die for.
Only complaint is feeling rushed by servers to clear plates and present the bill before being asked.“

“Seoul Salon is such a trendy and aesthetic restaurant and the food didn't disappoint. I'd definitely recommend making reservations because it was all packed for a Thursday dinner. To start the meal, they give this crispy ramen cracker snack with a hot sauce drizzled on top and it was so nostalgic to the snacks I used to eat when I was younger. The whole menu looked so delicious, but I ended up trying the Soy Scallop with Gim Rice, Rose Tteokbokki with Gimmari, and the Seoul Salon Fried Chicken. The soy scallops were fresh and full of flavor. The Gim rice paired perfectly with the scallops as well. The Rose tteokbokki reminded me of eating a margherita pizza because of the cheese and basil toppings with the sauce. Iloved the Gimmari that came with the dish; it was nicely fried and dipping it into the sauce was perfection. The fried chicken took me by surprise. The batter was so crispy and airy and the chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The sauce had a good spice kick and it was only drizzled lightly on half of the chicken, so none of the chicken got soggy and it's great for people who can't handle the spice. Overall had a great experience at Seoul Salon. I would come back again and again.“

“Coqodaq in NYC was definitely buzzing — it’s not easy getting a reservation, we had to put our names in and wait around 2 hours for a table for two. The vibe inside is a unique blend of club and restaurant, giving it a lively, energetic atmosphere. We started with a delicious consommé that set a good tone, and I appreciated the selection of ban chan-style appetizers. But of course, the real star is the fried chicken, which Coqodaq is known for. The gochujang wings were the standout for me, packed with flavor and the perfect kick of spice. The other flavors, though, didn’t leave as much of an impression. Overall, I’d say it was a good experience, but I’m not entirely convinced it’s worth the hassle of scoring a table. The food was solid, especially the gochujang wings, but with the effort it takes to get in, I’m not sure it’s something I’d go out of my way for again.“

“I don’t know if I’ve ever been treated this well at a restaurant. My friends and I feasted like kings. Our server showed us exactly how to compose the most delicious bites imaginable and kept us plied with meat, soju, and beer. We ended up with second helpings of quite a few things on the house and had the time of our lives. If you want to take your friends or family out for a real treat, this is the spot!!!“

“A truly delightful dining experience with small plates that don’t disappoint. We particularly loved the tartare, with finely diced tomato and a well balanced ginger sesame dressing. It’s hard to believe that the words “great beet hummus” but trust me! Also the persimmon salad with yuzu yogurt - wow. We also really enjoyed the play on a bagel and cream cheese for dessert - very fun and a great punch of flavors with the homemade strawberry jam. Will def return!
Pro tip: the bathroom is a must visit.“

The ambiance is elegant, with modern decor that complements the traditional Korean cuisine served with a contemporary twist. “This place is across the street from Penn Station. I was pleasantly surprised to try it for the first time on Saturday where the happy hour lasted all day! Greatly priced drinks and food. I was surprised to see my beloved Mala Hotpot for $25 that serves 2-3 people. I heard from the manager that things are constantly changing at this place since they opened on February ‘24, but I’m looking forward to interacting with the amicable staff again during my next visit. This place is a hidden gem. The manager’s put a lot of thought into it!“

“I've had the privilege to dine in many amazing restaurants around the globe and even privately in the kitchen of some famous chefs. I can say with absolute authority that this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Absolutely amazing from first bite to last! Make sure to opt-in for the savory beignet as well. It was superlative. I'll be envious of anyone getting to dine here until I have a chance to come back again!“

“If you like “small plate” style restaurants you’ll probably love this. Food is really good and atmosphere itself is a 5/5. Corn dumplings with Parmesan is unique and ribs were really good. Noodles were quite spicy! I’d probably pass on oxtail spring rolls they were alright. If you’re looking for a big meal I’d skip unless you want to order a ton!“

“Found this place by coincidence, but it turns out to be one of the best handroll places I visited in NYC. The restaurant is structured as bar seatings. Every handroll was made and served one.
The rice was well seasoned, and every roll was delicious. The menu was a bit limited, but that also makes it very simple and friendly for someone who doesn't know what to order on their first visit.
The price was moderate. If you are a fan of handrolls, you should give it a try.“

“Great food / good pricing and overall an experience worth having. I've been to a few Korean bbq places in New York afterward and I still remember this place as a very good experience. They were attentive and brought anything we ordered very fast. Beef was great / and seafood likewise. Be aware of the outfits as there's smoke as expected for a bbq place.“

We were then greeted by the server who was knowledgeable and extremely patient with all our questions. We settled on the tasting and it did not disappoint. Our table was touched numerous times and the experience was overall great. The server was amazing and gene went and above and beyond to accolade our allergies. They made us a special mock tail and there version of the espresso martini did not disappoint . I will be back for sure!

“Dweji-gomtang (pork bone broth soup) is really smooth and clear. You could taste the richness of the pork while drinking the broth. The pork is slicing into really thin slices and it goes really well with the gochu-ji. The spicyness balances the greasy taste of the pork. The side dish kimchi radish is crisp and balanced the whole dish. The restaurant is a little bit small and doesn’t have a lot of space, but definitely worth a try for its pork broth soup“

“This place is beautifully and uniquely decorated, love the fresh flowers and walls of vinyls and the photo frame booths!! The food was delicious! MUST get the wings, they’re hands down one of the best wings in the city!!! We got the sangrias and they’re yummy. Don’t miss their $2 oyster happy hour, such a great deal and the oysters were so fresh and came with three sauces. We order the bulgogi burger with fries and truffle japchae as our main dishes and omg this meal from ambience, taste, and service was top-notch!! Price is very reasonable for the food quality and portion. Thank you MONO+MONO for an overall enjoyable meal experience 🙏🏻🩵“

“The food was immaculate. I fully understand this chefs accolades in Seoul. Every savory course was spectacular, and the ice cream was phenomenal. The Perellia oil and the banchan served with the wagyu were my standouts. I think the variety of sweets at the end were lovely, just a bit hit or miss. The food easily compares to Junsik for me. As far as the other fine Korean in the city (I have not tried Atomix yet) it is notably better than Atoboy, Moono, and Naro. That all being said I think there was some slight service issues. After perfect pacing of the savory courses, it was about 25-30 minutes between each dessert, which quickly turned it from a 2 hour to a 3 hour meal. It also may have been user-error, but it was very difficult to locate. Personally I found it kind of fun to have to search around for an entrance, but I also recognize how in a world of fine dining competition in New York, some amount of curb appeal signage beyond a freight entrance that basically says "do not enter," may be needed.
I would love to return, the staff were exceptionally kind, and the food was delicious. I expect they are on their way to a second star in the next year or two. And as absurd as it may sound, $180 tasting kind of felt like a great deal as 1-2 Michelin stars have trended toward $300/pp in the city.“

“My friend and I made a reservation for Gurumé at 7pm on a Saturday. I would recommend making a reservation if you are dining around this time, as it was packed! However, the crowd had dissipated by 8:30pm, so if you're looking for a later evening bite, it's definitely slower. I would also recommend not dining at peak hours because it was so loud. Decor is your average, upscale vibes, but the tables are really close together to maximize the amount of people in the space.
We ordered crispy corn and cheese ($14), oyster mushroom taco ($17), berkshire kimchi fried rice ($19), scallop crudo ($19), and pork & radish "bossam" ($19). We also ordered the black sesame bread pudding for dessert ($11). Overall, the food was flavored well and tasty. You're paying entree prices for appetizer portions, but it makes sense for the location. If I came back, I would skip the kimchi fried rice and scallop crudo. The fried rice was nothing special, and I have had better experiences with simpler ingredients; the scallop crudo was overpowered by the other flavors, losing the taste of the scallop. The bossam was so moist and juicy, with fantastic natural flavoring, though the other components did enhance the flavor. I would only recommend the corn if you are a corn lover and none of the other appetizers appeal to you. The mushroom taco had a great combination of flavors and the spice kick was mild. If you're a dessert person, the bread pudding was delectable, great black sesame flavor and the bread was also moist.
Service was outstanding. We were originally seated next to a large party, and they later moved us to a table further away where it was quieter. There were many checkbacks throughout the evening, and they definitely make you feel like you are valued as a customer. I would recommend Gurumé for a fancy night out and people in your party can talk loudly.“

“I went here for lunch and had the BO Special (see photo) which is the short ribs. It was solid. It was just very slightly sweet and salty, and came with onions. They also brought out a bunch of additional smaller foods (see photo) like kimchi, sprouted beans, beef & garlic. I liked the smaller plates a lot. It was a solid amount of meat. It also came with white rice and I left a little tired.“

“Bottom line: Enjoy eating and drinking your way through Seoul BAP's menu!!
The food was flavorful and had a nice twist on some Korean classics. Beautifully plated, too. Our favorites were...
* corn cheese
* galbi jjim
* bulgogi bibimbap
* bulgogi japchae
Go hungry because the portions sneak up on you!
Service was considerate, prompt and super respectful. From the hostess to all the waitstaff, everyone was great with our group.
Ambiance was chill-sexy. Would be great for a group with the back area perfect for a happy hour/cocktail hour party--or even an intimate date!
Looking forward to going again soon!“

“Exceptionally tasty ! This little place located in the Korean neighborhood is a true gem. They offer a wide variety of choices and are a good option if you want to experience a vegetarian hot dog. It can get crowded so you can expect a bit of wait during peak hours.
Definitely a must try when in NYC !

“Went on a Wednesday night at around 7 PM and was super busy! Filled with mainly younger people and the vibe was extremely nice. We got the beef tartare, chapaguri fried rice, soy-glazed bossam, and the frozen makgeolli for dessert! Only got a picture of the beef tartare and chapaguri :(, but everything was good nonetheless.
We did find the garlic bossam a bit too oily for our liking but it was good and finished all our plates. The service was great - I noticed that there were probably a lot of reservations as servers were quick to clear off empty tables and set them up for the next guests. Would highly recommend and I would go back to try some other dishes!“

“The food was really good. All of it was made well and for the most part amazing service. My only issue was the white hostess told us there were no tables and seated us right by the door completely cramped. Asking another waiter he was able to move us and said we need to be done at 8 as the table was reserved. This was at 6, showing the hostess just did not seat us well and communicate properly. If seated there we were ready to leave, but because the other staff were competent, we stayed and enjoyed good food. My other issue is as the tables are small we could only eat one plate at a time. Otherwise, it was very good! I just wish the hostess did not ruin the experience from the get go, with her incompetence.“
