“My friend and I ordered:Seafood pancakeDolsot Al bapDuck bulgogiSpicy monkfishCorn creme bruleeI would definately go back for the dolsot al bap and spicy monk fish dishes. The dolsot comes w a beautiful uni creme combined with the crispy bits of rice and textural experience of the fish roe was amazing. The Spicy monk fish had ~4 to 5 small pieces coated with smokey/spicy sauce and some veggies mixed w rice was a great combo.I personally judge a place on how crispy the seafood pancakes are and this was CRISPY. Definately would get again, it was also full of big chunks of seafood which is always a plus. The duck bulgogi was the least memoriable. It had the texture of duck but mainly just tastes like regular bulgogi.Corn creme brulee was sweet but overly sweet with a minimal corn flavor and some corn bits at the bottom.Service:9/10The waitress helping us get seatted for our rsvp were accomodating with grtting a seat closer to the wall vs the aisle. Our waiter was informative and had great sense when asking if we wanted to take any pictures/videos before mixing the Al bap for us.Also advising both of us to get two dishes before we ordered was helpful. Before peak hours, the atmosphere was pleasant. But, the tables are very close together and when its packed during peak hours it can be challenging speaking to one another due to the level of noise/conversation.“

“I really like this restaurant! The food is high quality and the experience is fine dining but fun/relaxed.The menu is composed of bits of familiar recipes with Korean twists and French culinary techniques. There’s galbi, squid ink fried rice, uni, and mäd toast (which sounded monstrous but I didn’t get to try it this time) plus much more. I liked that the menu is small-sized and minimalist with clearly labeled snacks, little colds, hots, mains, extras, and desserts (menu is posted outside the entrance and on website). The current menu that started in mid-March has snacks/appetizers such as spicy yellowtail tart, beef tartare, fried shiitake mushroom rice balls (I think?, it’s labeled as mushroom arancini on the menu), pork head katsu, and scallion buns with unique sauces on the side ($20 per person, either no one or everyone orders). I tried the mushroom tempura with onion dip too! Everything was elegantly and adorably plated. Our server explained what’s what and suggested how to best enjoy some dishes. They have a really extensive drinks menu (many pages), complete with your usual offerings and their own unique cocktails, rice alcohol, maekgeolli, and even alcohol free cocktails woohoo! Not sure if all of the ice cubes for the alcoholic drinks are engraved with the restaurant’s name and logo but ours were and I thought that was a really cool and personal touch. An equally important part of my dining experience was the atmosphere and service. The staff are attentive, frequently filling glasses low on water and folding napkins when you step away. They also keep the music bopping and adjust their playlists. The lighting is a little dim and the interior is ‘cool club’ vibes but for a slightly more sophisticated audience. It’s a place to come in casual or dressed up a little for fun. It’s best for smaller groups of 1-4 I think based on seating arrangements but they seem to be able to accommodate slightly larger groups at some bigger tables and in the back room. Expect to pay $50-$100 if you get one item from each category on the menu and a drink. Probably $100+ if you get more or multiple drinks. The bar area in the back is across from the kitchen, which might be cool to peek at to see some staff members curating orders.I like that it’s on a quieter block in ktown area. The price range and location filters out loud and teen crowds, so it feels like a great place for young adults and Millenials to catch up or go on a date. It’s a place to sit down and chat while you savor small bites and wait on more food to arrive, so you’ll probably need like 1.5-2 hours if you’re going for a natural relaxed pace. I also saw a family of 5 enjoying dinner together here. Lastly, this is random but the hand soap is heavenly. I can’t wait to see what other menus they craft!!Dietary restrictions: They will ask about dietary restrictions and can modify recipes. If you don’t eat certain ingredients/foods, they can omit snacks too and adjust the price for you accordingly.“

“I had the 15-course Chef tasting menu for $135. Although it may seem a bit steep for a food court, this is a high end food court (spacious and spotless, surrounded by luxurious hotels and exclusive galleries), and they're serving premium ingredients. Just four of these courses on their own (Madai with Beet and Mandarin; Hiramasa with Golden Osetra; Lobster with Kombu; Eel with Foie Gras) if put on a bigger plate and served on white table clothes could make up a prix fixe worth $135, but because this is a casual food court, you get a lot of "bang for your buck." The only thing that prevented me from being completely comfortable here was the very loud music overhead, very hectic, very frenzied, WOOF.“

“Amazing atmosphere, creative dishes and food drinks. Especially the corn dumplings were to die for. The oxtail spring rolls are also a must have. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because we had to wait close to 30 minutes for our last dish, which was the cauliflower. They kept telling us it was “a couple of minutes away” and since we were strapped for time to reach another appointment, we asked if we could just skip that dish if it was going to take so long. The waiter didn’t seem to appreciate that, and kept reiterating that it was a few minutes away. The cauliflower was good but not worth a 30 minute wait. “Been here 4 times. I declare take 31 to be the top one on my list of Korean food in New York! The creamy udon pasta is super delicious and is my favorite dish. The creamy sauce is very rich and you won’t get tired of it even if you eat the whole plate. We have tried all three kinds of rice balls, and our favorite is the tuna fish rice ball. The 5 big pieces are full of sincerity and are so satisfying when paired with refreshing kimchi; the honey fried chicken has a sweet coating, and the mustard sauce it comes with is even more remarkable, retaining the mustard flavor without being spicy; the yogurt-flavored Rice wine has more flavor than banana flavor! It’s especially cool; the pork neck meat will be a little fatty; the corn tortillas have caramel adhering to the corn kernels, which are sweet and crispy, especially delicious! !“

“This restaurant specializes in Korean fine dining, taking traditional Korean cuisine to a higher level of refinement in terms of size, flavor, and presentation. Additionally, they incorporate elements from northeastern Chinese, Japanese, and other cuisines from around the world, giving it a touch of Asian fusion. In terms of the dining experience, this establishment does a decent job of interpreting the concept of Korean fine dining, but personally, it may not stand out as the finest representation of Korean fine dining. Other Michelin 1-2 star restaurants and even some non-Michelin-rated establishments may excel more in terms of food quality.Furthermore, being located in the Korean town area, amidst numerous upscale and casual Korean eateries, its lack of unique flavor and relatively small portions might lead some diners to prefer nearby alternatives. However, the restaurant's service and ambiance are top-notch for the Korean town area. Situated in a classical-style room with warm lighting, and with attentive and friendly staff, it enhances the dining experience, making it suitable for formal gatherings such as business dinners, formal meetings, and dates. In conclusion, this restaurant is a decent choice for Korean fine dining, particularly suitable for formal occasions, but if you're solely seeking the best Korean food or the most representative Korean fine dining experience, there may be better options available in New York.“

I was expecting a bit more from the food tbh for the price (not sure what though because I have no real complaint but it wasn't spectacular other than the mixed fritter appetizer which was the best tempura I've ever had). All in all 4.5 stars.“

“My family stopped in for dinner on a gloomy evening. The owner warmly greeted us after a short wait and was very attentive through out our time. We ordered a Bul Dak bowl, Sunny Avo, and Kimchi Jae Yuk bowl. Everything was very tasty and the portions were so large. We tried our best but couldn’t finish, we were stuffed. The owner was very nice, even giving our daughter a choice of handmade trinket made by his children. It was our last day in NYC but would recommend Bulbap Grill to anyone in the area.“

For the hot dogs There are several choices, the basic is already very good, a little extra with the cheddar and originality for the hash browns around it. A nugget! Absolutely worth testing. And super affordable prices. For big eaters, maybe take 2. Good tasting“

“I had no idea what to expect when my wife booked a meal for us here, but I was pleasantly surprised at every turn. I guess I shouldn't be, because a handful of the most exciting Michelin starred restaurants in New York right now are Korean joints and I've never had a bad experience at any of them... but this one really stood apart and I think it might just be my new favourite. There's a great speakeasy feel to the place when you first enter, it's a completely different restaurant hidden behind a restaurant and crossing that threshold feels a bit like discovering a secret. The food and drinks were the real revelation though. We decided to get the non-alcoholic drinks pairing and it was fantastic. This isn't an area I'm used to fine dining restaurants putting any effort into. Most places will do a wine paring, barely anywhere seems to care about offering a valid alternative for those who either don't drink, or just aren't feeling it. From start to finish, they put a lot of thought into which beverages to pair with which courses and everything worked. More importantly, these were tea-based drinks that were delicious without being too sweet or cloying. It was infinitely better than my usual practice of getting one or two mocktails before feeling sugared-out. And as for the food, well... lemme tell you what they did wrong here. 1: The salmon row they used was a little firmer than I'm used to. Made it a little hard to chew it. 2: The chopsticks were metal and quite a bit heavier than the kinds I'm used to, which made using them a little clunkier in my stupid hands than I expected. Those are literally the only two things I could find to complain about, because I love this place and I loved literally all of the food there. There are creative flavour combinations I've never tried before, things I never would have guessed would go together, but very much did. There were exciting cuts of beef, we tried a Wagyu supplement here that was unlike any A5 Wagyu we've ever had. One piece of steak arrived with a Sweet Potato that may have been the platonic ideal of what a sweet potato should be. They serve impeccable seafood, including a crab and egg dish with meat from a crab so fresh that we met it earlier when it was still alive. The dessert course was a fantastic note to end on and as part of our drinks pairing, it came with a plum blossom tea that I couldn't get enough of. Over all, it felt as though there was skill and imagination on display in every course, beautiful presentation, friendly and informative staff, a fantastic blend of new ideas and what I'm told were Korean comfort foods, and just some incredibly heavy chopsticks... but I won't hold that against them. I briefly mentioned the staff above, but I want to reiterate that the quality of service at this place should not be taken for granted. This is a very welcoming environment where each employee seems to go out of their way to provide you with an unforgettable dining experience. I look forward to returning some day.“
