“After having enjoyed Bersi's eye-poppingly large platters that feed 3-4 people for $20-60 in total, not even Ras's lunch special ($18 bowls) seemed like a good deal. I did prefer the collard greens at Ras over Bersi's though. (Too bad I didn't try the injera at Ras for a comparison.) All that said, I did enjoy the Bole Bowl: the crunchy soy crumbles were a fun textural element, and the avocado injected creaminess into the mix. FYI, they have a couple of beverages with honey: honey wine and hard kombucha. Updated from previous review on 2024-04-08“
“Bunna Cafe has some great Ethiopian food and is exclusively a vegetarian place on top of that (I don't know about most people but I personally love my meat). However, despite not serving meat, Bunna Cafe still delivers flavor at great prices and portion sizes. My favorites were the spicy lentil and mushroom one but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The hospitality was exceptional as well. No complaints here!“
“This is a great place for seemingly authentic Caribbean cuisine. The atmosphere is great with great natural lighting in the day and a nice lounge atmosphere in the evening. The food is delicious and they have many classics like mofongo and patacón. The biggest problem is the time it takes to receive the food once ordered. Also I'd highly recommend a reservation if dining in.“
“Cute Black Owned Vegan restaurant right off Nostrand. I love coming here every time I visit Brooklyn. The music is always on the right playlist, the aesthetics give an inviting atmosphere to want to stay for longer, & the food completes the mission of good vibes. I love their vinyl/retail area, very loungy. They have a cute little bar area as well. I recommend the Bake & Saltfish, French Toast, Lobster Roll, & The Fish Cakes. Each dish is unique in its own way and full of flavor. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. They get pretty busy in the evening so make sure you get a reservation.Vegetarian options: All vegan menu“
“Great vegan cuisine--their three dips are amazing, especially their cheese.Loved the two cocktails I ordered, and given their extensive Mezcal list, I know I'll be back for more. Wonderful service, servers and manager were so kind and accommodating! And don't forget to order dessert.Dietary restrictions: Our server asked right away as we ordered, if we had any allergies.“
“This is the best restaurant in Midwood in my opinion. The food is fantastic. Some unusual dishes that I have never had before as well as some old favorites that are made much better than anywhere else. Even the mango lassi is better than anywhere else. Don't miss the chaats and the butter chicken! The service is warm and incredible. And the owner is such a delight to talk to. I love this place! I'm so excited to hear that they are delivering during coronavirus epidemic.“
“I have been coming to this establishment since it was legit a box on the block. If you walked too fast you'd miss it...and I'm so excited and impressed on how they've transformed to become such edgy, dateworthy and "Instagrammable" sit down dining restaurant.Prices & Food: very reasonable, includes lunch time specials that won't dent the pockets. I haven't had all of the dishes on the menu but the ones that I have had I enjoyed. I ❤️ the fact that they stay true to their roots regarding heat levels. They don't dummy it down for us NYers..you came there remember! On the flip..they should stay true to their roots and not serve fried chicken wings the way we do up here. That was a miss ?Cleanliness: ? they nailed it! The bathroom decor is something I'd be inspired to copy and VERY clean, smells good, etc. I hold a sanitation certificate so EVERYWHERE I go I'm looking in corners, looking at the ceiling, under the tables..I need to know my area is clean to enjoy my food! 5stars!Service: No complaints. Each server has been attentive and patient; never really hovering to rush me and my party out so much appreciated ?I would very much recommend coming here. Nice for a solo date or bring a party. The place is inviting and seats about 40 people in total I believe. Warm months brings outside dining, never done it, but it looks ?Wheelchair accessibility: Establishment provides outdoor dining and has a ramp! Thoughtful!“
“Obsessed. Modern Love is just amazing - best vegan cheese I've ever had. The eggplant parm changed my life. I'm a native new yorker and huge foodie and Modern Love is just truly the real deal - go immediately, whether you're vegan or not!!“
“I was so tired so I grabbed the first thing I saw that looked familiar instead of reading the menu or checking out comments. It was beyond burger, which was delicious. After I ordered I saw crab cakes that looked yum, I wish I tried those too. They also had a bunch of desserts that looked good, but I can't eat that much at once. So if I'm ever back in New York I'm definitely coming there again. Service is really good, nice people working there, order ready fast! I definitely recommend this place.“
“Fabulous! You could spend so much money in here and never feel unhappy about it. Totally vegan it's actually quite large with lots of places to sit and just plants everywhere. if I had more money, I would buy myself every single plant and item they have here. lovely food, lovely staff, highly recommend! please support your neighborhood, vegan place.“
“This review was long overdue. I’ve been coming here for years even though I don’t live nearby. Seitan’s helper has the best vegan sandwiches in NYC. I travel to the city specifically for seitan’s helper, it is worth the two hour trip plus traffic. Everything on the menu is amazing. I recommend EVERYTHING! Every time I make the trip, I make sure to stock up. i usually get the triple threat which is one of my favorites. If you’re unsure what to get an If you’re unsure what to get i recommend building your own sandwich. All the seitan, breads , sauce's and etc are all made from scratch. You can tell a lot of love goes into what they do. Not only is their food amazing but so is their customer service. They are so welcoming and accommodating. I wanted to purchase something for my toddler daughter to eat so I asked if they had a kids menu. They don't have a kids menu but without hesitation made a grilled cheese just for my daughter. I would eat here everyday if I could.Vegetarian options: Menu is veganDietary restrictions: Vegan“
“Spot is a gem located in the Stuy! The food is flavorful and addictive. I've had the burgers, thoty thots, Yucca fries, nuggets, and latest and greatest, the mouthwatering vegan steak sub!!!Always has been consistent too, so keep it up! I would have took photos, but I like my food hot and it never last long.“
“I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! I will definitely be back again soon!Dietary restrictions: Totally Vegan and plant based menu.Kid-friendliness: Yvonne was so sweet with my girls.“
“Such an amazing environment with great vegan food. I haven't had much vegan food but, if it tastes as amazing as the Warrior Sandwich I just had here! Definitely one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. I'm on board. Phenomenal food, great atmosphere, live music and DJs! This place is indeed special! I will be back here.“
“Super delicious vegan sandwiches for breakfast or lunch. These sandwiches really nail it! Bread is delicious, faux meats are very yummy. Also make sure that you go for the fries! ? This is not fast food, so order ahead if you need to make a quick pickup.“
“Literally one of the best kept secrets in all of New York. Food, drinks, staff, music, and the horror decorations are all on point. This is legit one of the best goth bars I’ve ever been to in the world. I can’t recommend this place enough. Once you come here, you’ll keep coming back!“
“This place is as good as it gets when it comes to whole food plant-based fare! It has an attractive decor, a friendly staff who you order from at the counter, and really good food. I’ve tried the UWS and UES locations and both are consistently very good. Unlike most vegan restaurants, that offer a wide variety of highly processed fake meat, Le Botaniste is all about whole foods – vegetables, grains, beans, with various dishes to suit of a variety of tastes. And everything is freshly made and ready to go, so there’s no waiting.“
“Superb, will characterize the word delicious, as I aptly apply it to the dishes that I ordered at Starving Vegan. I began my sit-down meal with Curry Chicken. My two combo side orders were rice and beans and chickpeas. The rice was cooked to sheer perfection. This savory dish capitalizes on a bevy of sophisticated flavors. On a side note, the curried flavor is not heavily spiced, it's actually mild in taste. After enjoying this tasty meal I decided to order a second dish. This time I ordered the ever-popular Citrus Chicken. It is easy to see why Citrus Chicken is Starving Vegan's signature dish. I paired it with rice and beans and for a little more sweetness, I added plantains. With each bite, I happily planned my next visit to Starving Vegan. I'm looking forward to more savory goodness......!!!!“
“I love the ambiance in this place, the wood accents and clean lines is really soothing. We came on a Friday night and didn’t make a reservation. It wasn’t busy but there was only one server so it was slower but the server was friendly and attentive. The ramen is AMAZING! Highly HIGHLY recommend stopping in for the ramen, it will not disappoint. The fried chicken and octopus appetizers were good but in our minds we thought they’d be different.“
“Service: My favorite human beings!! they are the absolute sweetest girls and greet everyone with warmth and love.Groceries: First off, they are by far the cutest shop in town and have just about everything you can think of. Oragnic, plant based, healthy groceries.Philosophy: They are not just 100% vegan, but they source all their supplies thoughtfully, supporting the environment, local business, and clean ingredients.Side note:: ladies, if you're reading this, your customers and I thank you!! we are so lucky to have individuals like yourselves who put their heart into their day-to-day work, making our community much more wonderful. Thank you, and we love you!“
“i ordered a birthday cake ('Vegan chocolate vanilla raspberry crumb 5' - 50$) for pickup. communication was good throughout and the pickup was easy. most importantly, the cake was very good! something i come across every once in a while is that vegan pasty are too sweet for some reason, but this cake had it just right. my memories of what a non-vegan cake tastes like are too weak to be very confident, but i think you'll be safe bringing one to your vegan and non-vegan friends alike. Updated from previous review on 2024-04-08“
“They have the most authentic Korean japchae and kimchi I’ve ever had :) totally reminds me the good old times :) and most importantly everything is vegan :) I was shocking that I haven’t been here in a while the Malaysian manager move back “
“A lovely, sunny and delicious respite from the cares of the world... How wonderful to find a place that serves top notch vegan fare--both sweet and some savory offerings too. Loved the rainbow cookies, Jamaican Patty and the black cake. The layer cakes are spectacular as well. Coffee, tea, chai, cappuccino--just some of the hot drink offerings to go with your treats. The owners are most congenial and welcoming, serving you with utmost care and attention. The bakery is light and airy with several tables to dine at. Located across the street from the Glen Oaks library on Union Turnpike, there is ample street parking as well as the large parking lot located behind the bakery. There is convenient access to public transportation too: the Q36 and Q46 stop steps away. My family and I truly enjoyed our time at Rose Valley bakery and cannot wait to do so again!“
“Hands down best dosa, idli, vada, chutney, upma, pongal, mysore pak, and madras coffee. You can do Abhishek in Ganesh temple upstairs on a full stomach. Very satisfying and may improve your karma! Just not on a weekend though when it's crazy packed.“
“SLE what can I say about this place. Superb customer service!!! The owner is such a nice and humble guy. Always has a smile on his face and greets each and every one of his customers. Again, customer service is outstanding!!!! The food: OMG impeccable. My absolute favorites are the plant based steak burrito and the oyster mushroom sandwich. I drive a good 45 min to get to get to SLE and it's worth the drive. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. Many Blessings to all the staff at SLE“
“Found this spot while scrolling Tik Tok. Me and my sister decided to give it a try. My sister had a wrap and I had the vegan chop cheese. Both of our orders came with a salad. The salad was sooo fresh and delicious. We think they grow and use their own veggies in their dishes! Which is amazing. The chop cheese was sooooo freaking good. We ate our food while parked in-front of their restaurant. I ordered a plate for my dad because it was that good, healthy & filling. We ordered the chlorophyll water, it was bland. We didn’t like it much. Both of our dishes & drinks totaled to about $41.00. The chop cheese alone with tax was about $14.16.They do have outdoor seating. For indoor seating, you will have to make a reservation. There is also a different menu for indoor reservations. We will definitely be back“
“This was a happy accident for me. I booked this not realizing that it was a Vegan restaurant. Never having eaten vegan food before I was a bit apprehensive on whether I would enjoy....well I'm happy to say I not only enjoyed but LOVED the experience. How the heck you make a vegan bacon egg and cheese is beyond me but whatever magic they use is working. Delicious! Very cool vibe and decor and very friendly staff as a bonus.“
“Yesterday, I wanted to find a local place that has vegan protein shakes after my workout. Stopped into Punchline and was majorly impressed by the option! I got the “Crown Heights” shake which was delicious. The chef gave me a sample to try before pouring to see if I wanted to sweeten it. Would highly recommend!“
“Awesome place overwhelming with awesome vibes! A vegan burger fast food restaurant? So cool!!Unfortunately, this is NOT a seat-in restaurant. Everything is take-out or pick-up.The staff was really lovely! I really appreciated their patience and friendliness when I took forever to decide what to get...My friend got a vegan chicken sandwich; she said it tasted just like Chick-fil-A. She really liked it!I got a burger called "One Night Stand." The burger patty was very burned, so I had to bite off and toss out quite a bit, but it was still good! The fries were sooooo good. Even when they got cold, they were still crispy outside and soft inside; they didn't get soggy at all!Wheelchair accessible. No dine-in options.“
“They have a wide range of flavors at Vinnies. This was my first time trying Elote Pizza. This was the true embodiment of an Elote, Mexican Corn, on a slice. It was creamy, cheesy, and the corn was good. They cook the slice to the perfect temperature and it was ready to eat straight out the oven. The service was good the lady at the counter helped me out. Overall it has an old school vibe to it and I love the TMNT bench in the front. (@jefeeatsss On Instagram)“
“come ?? to ?? this ?? restaurant?? !food is made with love, service is amazing, prices are awesome, and they have a very cozy seating area for days when it's too cold to eat in the park <3 i love everything about Grilled.Their S.E.C. and popcorn chicken are my favorites for the morning after a night out.Vegetarian options: Everything is 100% plant based!Dietary restrictions: The menu is entirely vegan, and they also have gluten-free entrees and sides :3“
“Goodsugar is a very unique juice and smoothie store that prides itself on being organic, kosher and pure! Their soups, which are indeed delicious are made dairy free without any preservatives. My favorite is their Egyptian Red Lentil Soup. They make plant based foods that are unique and delicious . I have also enjoyed their very wholesome bakery products!“
“Had the Island Storm and Green Vibes minus the honey, smoothies…they were just right and refreshing on a hot sunny Summer afternoon. Also had the jerk plantain, ackee, and callaloo Patties. They were flaky, light, not overly filled, not greasy, satisfying and tasty. Nice for quick bites on the run or chilling at home. I dined in. Just really cool vibes on a hot day.“
“The food was very pleasing and had a really nice base. The base was tangy, sweet, sour and savory. The toppings were filling up the top and very nicely placed. Also they're mini size was perfect and small but filling. The service was very well and the workers did not take that long. I would say we waiting less than a minute for the acai bowl to be ready! Also, I had really enjoyed the music playlist, and had a nice interaction about music with the worker. The atmosphere was very nice, they're were nice, bright colors, a comfy couch and clear menus. In addition, they were very considerate and added a charging station, even though i did not use it, it seemed very nice. Love this place and I ordered the Purple Rain. My first time and this place made a really nice impression on me.“
“I was a little hesitant on trying raw desserts but I absolutely loved them! I am gluten free and alsosugar free (processed sugar/added sugar). I love that the desserts are made with natural sugar from plants and didn’t taste overly sweet. I’ll definitely be coming here again.“
“The food was delicious. The service is great for only 1 person waiting on customers. The serving sizes are tremendous. Even the coffee cups were huge. Loved the food . We'll definitely be going back.Vegetarian options: Alot to choose from, and they will cook to order if you want to deviate from the menu.“
“So this is what we were able to savor for a photo of as we devoured the rest of the Mini's. After being recommended Ava's for tasty vegan treats I (as a fledgling nubee and skeptic) decided to stop by while in the area. I had the great pleasure of being serviced by the Owner Ava. After eluding to my skepticism towards flavorful VEGAN desserts she nudged my purchase in front of me said " I don't want to toot my own horn, so try these and tell me whT your wife and you think". Well in now I can truly say in the words of Eartha Kitt (in Boomerang) "you shouldn't have to toot your own horn" cause this place is the Truth and made a believer out of me/us. Very very good. We're going back today“
“They have healthy vegan food which is rare in this neighborhood. On top of that the vegan food tastes identical like real meat. Highly recommend Citrus chicken made with vegan meat , Plant base delight with quinoa. Feel inside out healthy at this restaurant and look for their delivery service of my everyday meal.“
“This been my caribe go-to spot for few years now. Try the smoothies I promise you wont want other smoothies after trying. The food is off da hook! I love they vegan cake, stress juice, cassava pone pudding omg!curry chick peas the kale patties trust me you wont go nowhere else!“
“What a great spot for cocktails, very comfortable, great drinks, friendly bartender (thanks Ellie!)... Super cool music and art performance, I think every other Sunday. Musicians coming to sit in, really groovy scene, really had a wonderful time.“
“Yes all around. I ordered the kids hamburger and the fried chicken with rice and peas and Mac n cheese. Everything was seasoned and flavorful. The price was nice as well at $30 for everything. Just wish there was bigger portion I could've kept reading.“
“Best Vegan Food Ever! I usually order more to go than dine in. But the place is beautiful and the staff is very kind. The menu is big with several options, from appetizers, soups, noodles, entrees and delicious desserts! Also they offer different kind of teas. I definitely recommend it!“
“I had lunch here since I was visiting the neighborhood since I moved away 3 years ago. The food didn't seem as good as I remembered it to be. The pattys lacked sufficient filling and the paninis had no side salad, slaw or any condiments. Service was great though! The guys at the counter were patient, helpful and friendly.“
“Bang bang broccoli is the literal best thing they serve. Watch out for there menu changes for example usually the sushi menu is always changing. Great vegan options and mediocre gf options. Depending on when your going service can change. Would suggest you go during happy hour and get some niece deals or order the sushi box to dine in. You can’t really go wrong 4 stars also watch out some stuff is really small“
“There are better Ethiopian restaurants out there for sure but this place is very good. Recommend the vegetarian platter and any of their coffees and teas. Service is warm and welcoming and the decor is also very comforting. Upscale without being stuffy, really like it here“
“If your craving vegan asian food, this is the spot. Literally had to double check their website to confirm they are fully vegan because nothing tasted vegan. Literally one of THE BEST vegan asian restaurants ive tried thats on the affordable side. The flavors are there !!! This place reminds me of my fav local Vietnamese spot before i went vegan.“
“Healthy food and kind staff. One of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. Their food is delicious and the staff are really nice. I need to be careful with what I eat and they answered my questions with grace. Other restaurants don’t behave with this kindness. They are really friendly and chat with me while my order is being prepared. Highly recommend this spot. It’s the best in the neighborhood!“
“Performed at the shade45 launch show for the punchline academy. Nice venue, dope vibes. Didn't eat here, just drinks.Parking: Can be tough to find street parking. We parked about 2 blocks away, got lucky and found a free spot because of the time and day of week“
“My family loves this place. The staff are very accommodating and the food is top notch.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian roti is delicious.Dietary restrictions: If you tell them your dietary restrictions the staff can recommend something tasty that meets your needs.Kid-friendliness: My two-year old loves the food here (even things that are a little spicy). But they have a “standard American” kids section on the menu as well.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to the front door.“
“We had an unexpected delay JFK airport and decided to look for a place for some good vegan eats. This place did not disappoint! They have a hot bar with ready made food (so many options) as well as a sandwich menu. I picked some items from the hot food (kale, Mac, lo mein, and bbq chicken) and my husband got a po boy. Everything was delicious. The po boy was out of this world! We also had fresh made juices and splurged on chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. It was definitely worth the trip from the airport! This is vegan comfort food at its best!“
