“We had a lovely weekend meal at Hong Kong Banjeom with our kids. The jjajangmyeon and jjampong were delicious, and the tangsuyuk was a big hit with the kids! A great place to enjoy authentic Korean-Chinese food as a family. 짬뽕은 완뽕까지 했어요♡“

“Restaurant Review: A Must-Try for Korean Fried Chicken Lovers
I recently visited this Korean restaurant in Toronto, and it was fantastic! Their fried chicken is hands down some of the best I’ve ever had—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The variety of sauces, especially the soy garlic is incredible.
What truly stood out was the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff greeted me with big smiles and were super attentive, making me feel right at home. If you’re craving delicious Korean fried chicken and great service, this is the spot to visit!“

“Hidden gems that I truly don’t want to tell. Great amount of food! Taste is fantastic! Love gamjatang (a bit spicy but very flavourful!) No, everything was tasty! Old style place which I love it! Please don’t change anything the way it looks and tastes. Small restaurant so of course take a bit time but I can be patient. Tight space so better go when not busy time. Highly recommend :)“

“We were strolling around, saw this and decided to give it a try. We have never tried Jokbal before but we are quite adventurous in our taste buds. Oh boy did this surprise us!! We ordered the medium size Jokbal with Jellyfish Salad and we (2 men) were well-fed!
The taste surprises us in a good way and we liked the sweet, spicy, savoury, refreshing and crunchiness all together. We will definitely try Jokbal again!!“

“TLDR: Looked for a semi-healthy yet affordable food option for takeout so we could pair it with somaek 🤣
-[KIMCHI TUNA GIMBAP] $12.99
🐟 has kimchi, tuna, perilla leaf, mayo, burdock, carrot, egg, and pickled radish
🌶 truthfully, I really like kimchi so I would have wanted more kimchi to give this gimbap more of a spicy flavor but look at that filling to rice ratio ✨️
-[JALAPENO CRAB MEAT TUNA GIMBAP] $13.99
🦀 has crab meat, tuna, jalapeno, rice, carrot, cucumber, and egg
🌶 not really spicy but you can taste the jalapeno flavor regardless so it was enjoyable
-[CHICKEN TANGSUYUK] $18.99
🍗 sweet and sour Korean fried chicken
🍗 I personally liked that the sauce was separated from the fried chicken because it helped to keep the chicken crispier for longer
🍗 also idk how they fried this but it didn't cause me to have a sore throat afterwards 🤯 aka wow
-[MINI CHEESE KIMCHI JEON] $5.99
🌶 not that much kimchi flavor again 🥲 but still good to snack on
🌶 would have wanted more cheese flavor too but the mild cheese likely paired better with the subtle kimchi flavor of this one
📝 They have party trays that would be great to bring to gatherings/parties“

I highly recommend the chicken sandwich.. you'll never go anywhere else for chicken again. Their Kim Bap is really good option. Very fresh and very healthy, my wife lives off them!!“

“Authentic & Flavorful – Best Beef Bibimbap in Toronto!
I’ve been to this Korean restaurant a few times, and it never disappoints. Their raw beef bibimbap (Yukhoe Bibimbap) is hands down one of the best in the city. The fresh, high-quality beef, perfectly seasoned and served over warm rice in a sizzling stone bowl, creates an incredible contrast of textures and flavors. Every bite delivers a perfect balance of umami, heat, and richness.
What really makes this place stand out, beyond the delicious food, is the warm and welcoming service. On my latest visit, they even made a special congee just for my toddler, such a thoughtful and kind gesture that truly shows how much they care about their customers. Highly recommended!“

“Friendly service and good food! We often go with their Combo A which comes with Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodle), Jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and Tangsuyuk (deep fried pork with sweet and sour sauce) which is perfect for 2-3 people.“
“I received stone rice cake (3 types) from a friend today. I found out why I asked what time the pickup would be when I placed my order. The rice cake was warm and delicious, as if it had been made and delivered on time. They beautifully engraved the words 'First Birthday' on the rice cake cake for free, and there were plenty of songpyeon and sorghum red bean rice cakes. I was moved. thank you The price was also better than other places. I highly recommend it?“
“The quality was unbelievable considering it was a restaurant inside a supermarket. I ordered takeout because I was afraid there would be leftovers, but the packaging wasn't made of Styrofoam, so I just took it home and ate it. There are still a lot of Styrofoam containers, but the packaging was really good. The Jjamppong was just as delicious as it was at a specialty Chinese restaurant. Bibimbap is ordinary. The batter for sweet and sour pork is too hard. It looks perfect in the picture, but when you bite into it, it's so hard that the roof of your mouth cracks, and even when you open it after eating some seaweed from takeout, it's still hard. The sweet and sour pork sauce is very disappointing. I think it would be even better if you paid a little more attention to it. So, even though I used glutinous rice, the batter was not chewy and was rough. It seems like I mixed in too much glutinous rice rather than starch. Anyway, the meat was tender. If the sauce is good, it would be really great.“

“My friend is a big fan of Apkujung Restaurant and I finally had the chance to stop by on his recommendation! If you're looking for an authentic Korean meal that feels home-cooked, this is a great spot to check out.
Located on Yonge Street just south of Steeles, there is plenty of parking available at Centerpoint Mall and then you just have to cross the street.
What we got:
- Ginseng Chicken Soup with Noodles and Congee
- Galbi Jjim (Korean Braised Short Ribs)
- Grilled Mackerel
Final Thoughts:
The Ginseng Chicken was nothing mind-blowing in terms of flavour, but it was incredibly comforting and hearty. The pot is served tableside and the staff help you cook each course starting with the poached chicken, noodle soup, and finally turning leftover soup into congee.
The Galbi Jjim is my must-order dish! The short ribs are super tender, and the sauce is delicious. It may be a tad sweet, depending on your taste, but this was great with rice.
Overall, I find the prices a bit on the pricey side but they come with a larger portion and I always leave full. I'd want to bring my parents here or return with a large group to try more dishes.“

“Ate here on a Saturday evening around 7:40. Almost no customers and we got seated basically right away. Ordered a combo that came with marinated beef, beef intestines, onions, and some side dishes. Came with soup, onion salad, and complementary lettuce too. We also refilled our side dishes for free. Combo cost around $60. Would highly recommend if you have 2 people with a big appetite or 3 people with small appetites.“

“Cute Korean restaurant about 3-5 min walk from Finch Subway station. Tip: exit through the passenger pickup area of Finch station if you're walking, that's the closest exit to the restaurant. I came here specifically to try their Ganjang Gejang (raw blue crab marinated in soy sauce), it seems that they might be the only restaurant that serves this dish in Toronto, that I could find and know of. There is a very slight fishy smell when I sniffed it, which is expected since it's raw crab, but when I was eating it, I didn't find it fishy at all, it was really delicious. The crab roe was soft and rich, the meat was smooth and fresh, everything went really well with the rice. I can see why this dish is called a rice thief now. I was really tempted to order another bowl of rice but on account of my diet I stopped myself. I would definitely try this dish again. I also ordered the kimchi stew and my friend got a spicy beef soup. Although it was not as outstanding as the Ganjang Gejang, Both were delicious and portions were good. The side dishes were good as well. Not sure if there's free refills or not since we didn't ask for any. The service was good, it's a smaller shop, seems like it's family owned. People were doing multi jobs so if you wanted more tea or something you have to ask them, they do really try to check up you though and would walk around once in awhile to refill your tea and see how you're doing. Overall a good dining experience, I would come back to try their raw crab. However if I was just going out for Korean food then I may not specifically go out of my way to come here since although the other dishes were good, it's not super outstanding. Aside from indoor dining they also have outdoor dining, there's a big white tent outside, they provides pretty good shelter, there's also hanging lights out there, really cute set up. We dined inside though since it was windy.“

“I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable and delicious Chungchun Rice Dogs are! The rice coating has an amazing texture on its own, and the toppings like potato or cornflakes add the perfect crunch. The sauces and seasonings really take the flavour to the next level. On top of that, the service is super friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!“

“Thursday night dinner at 7:30p for a group of four, no waiting for a table. Wasn’t busy at all, we left at 9p and only a handful of tables were occupied.
Food was served hot and tasty, Korean sides are always welcome and unlimited. Two servers were busy, a third would have sped up service for tea, water, side dish refills.
Green P parking lot in the back, we paid flat rate $6.50 after 7p.
Bathroom is down the stairs into the basement.“

They open until 2am everyday so it's a great spot for those late night eats. I will definitely be back! 😋“

“There are no seats inside the restaurant! Because the wait is often long and tiring, it would be nice if the whole thing wouldn't have to be spent standing up.
Not incredibly accessible. If you struggle with stairs but can manage, it may not be a big deal because there are 1-3 (i can't recall how many exactly, but likely 2) at the entrance. However, if you need wheelchair access, you might be out of luck since there are steps and the door is quite small. You would have to knock on the window and hope they come to take your order outside if you're alone!!
Anyways, the food is decent, I have bought it multiple times. It is not extraordinary however which is why i rate it 4 stars but I love the variety and it is not bad.
Many deals and rewards if you sign up with them.
Wheelchair accessibility: More about this written above.“

“Came here as a group of 6 and we ordered a variety of dishes off the menu.
Seafood gratin, uni pasta, spicy yaki beef udon, aburi salmon roll, karaage, nankotsu karaage, coconut ebi mayo, hashi wings, tontoro shishito, and spicy seafood tteokbokki.
Overall all the dishes tasted really good. I would definitely recommend: karaage, hashi wings, tontoro shishito, spicy seafood tteobokki, and the spicy yaki beef udon.
The service here was also really good, the stsff would regularly check on our table to refill our water and take the dishes away.
We ended up spending around 300 in total for about 12 dishes, a pitcher of beer, and 2 pops.“

“Been coming here for 20 years and it’s always the same - bearish pizza I’ve had ANYWHERE - underneath the salmon is finely diced cucumber and daikon which adds to the perfect texture. The Yorkdale roll is basically a deep fried dynamite roll - so good. Service is good for me, to the point and friendly enough. Atmosphere - you can expect a 20+ year old restaurant but it’s clean and cozy.“

“I used to go to Yummy BBQ often when I was still living in Toronto, and it quickly became one of my go-to Korean food places. Everything on the menu that I’ve tried tastes really good, but my usual orders were the pork bone soup (Gamja-tang) and the barbecue (both pork and beef). The pork bone soup is flavourful, and very comforting, while the barbecue meats are always tasty and satisfying. Portions are generous and you definitely get good value for your money.
I know some people mention in their reviews that the owners can come across as grumpy, and I’ve noticed that too. But I also believe we don’t really know what someone has gone through or is going through. Plus, the owners are already older and handle everything themselves -- cooking, serving, working the counter -- so I understand why they may seem stern. In my experience, after a few visits they warmed up a bit, and I came to appreciate their hardworking spirit behind the business.
For me, Yummy BBQ has always been about enjoying hearty, authentic Korean dishes, and that’s what keeps me coming back whenever I was in the area. I truly recommend giving this place a try if you want comforting Korean food. I hope more people support this business so it can continue serving delicious meals for years to come.“
