“We visited this Chinese restaurant a few days ago and really enjoyed the food. The flavors were great, and the service was excellent. Jackson there took the time to walk us through the menu and gave helpful recommendations. Since we were dining with children, he thoughtfully suggested which dishes could be made non-spicy. Their attentiveness and consideration made our experience very pleasant. We would definitely come back.“

“Hotopia Scarborough is a gem! While it’s known more for its Sichuan cuisine and Mala Dry Pots than traditional hot pot, the flavors here are absolutely incredible and authentic.
I highly recommend trying the Sichuan Style Bullfrog Pot—the meat was so tender and the chili seasoning had a real, satisfying kick (you can adjust the spice level!). The appetizers were also great; don't skip the Scrambled Eggs and Tomatoes, which are unexpectedly rich and comforting.
Beyond the delicious food, the service is truly a highlight. The staff is incredibly attentive, friendly, and quick. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making it perfect for a casual dinner or a celebration. If you're looking for flavorful, authentic Sichuan food in a great environment, Hotopia is a must-visit!“

“Good price for a AYCE. They have a good variety, a lot of seafood. Lobster, clams, shrimp, snails. The broth is delicious and service is good. I would come back, nice spot to chill and eat and they don’t rush you out after a certain time, you can take your time and enjoy the food!“

They've seen me at every holiday, after every exam, and every personal win worth celebrating. Their food is nostalgic and comforting to me now, and it always reminds me of home. “Ordered the beef pancake, mini pork wonton soup and shredded bean curd. The wonton soup was average at best. The wrapper was too thick for mini wonton and the flavour was a little off. Good tasting bean curd and nice deep fried beef pancake. Good meal but no reason to come back. Bought some frozen baos home and they completely changed my mind. The baos were juicy with great flavour. The meat filling also didn't clump together like meatball. 5 stars just for the bao here.“

“A hidden hole in the wall gem in a fairly unknown plaza that has some awesome liangpi noodles.

The liangpi noodles is my go to for this spot. The noodles with the sesame sauce and the chili oil was so tasty.

I also got the rougamo beef and a lamb one. The meat was alright, but the bun had a dry texture and left an aftertaste. Not sure if it was just me, but I would stick with the noodles which they have several options for.

Service, on point. I did speak Cantonese to the lady working and she was fantastic recommending items and informing me how long things would take and if she had to step away while I was deciding.

This place is a takeout place so there aren’t any seats available.

Parking is only a few spots, but for the size of plaza and the shops there, it’s enough.

“I love supporting small businesses, and Hakka Cottage did not disappoint! The owner was very polite and friendly. The shop is quaint and intimate, great option for dining in. I opted for take out and some of the standout dishes were the fried dumpling, lollipop chicken, and the Manchurian chicken. The fried rice had that perfect wok hey. Definitely give these guys a visit!“

“Hole in the wall hidden gem for nofrills chinese food. Tucked away in a tiny plaza, ordered the mushroom efu noodles which was a bit plain but their salad fish and chicken fried rice was absolutely delicious!

“Brought my mom to one of her favorite food spots today! This place may not look fancy or big it’s actually a pretty small restaurant but the chef makes incredible dishes. Mom always orders their spicy fish, and we also got a spicy sour cabbage and their signature fried pancake dish (the pancakes are sliced into noodle form and stir-fried with bean sprouts). Everything was so good! The portions are generous too, we even had leftovers. Highly recommend this place, and the customer service is amazing as always!“

I ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork with Fried Rice and Vegetables for myself and got the Salt and Pepper Chicken with Noodles and Vegetables for my Husband. Both were portioned very well and at a reasonable price. We both enjoyed it! The owner currently working right now is very friendly and kind. “They have the best lamb soup full with flavours and large chunks of lamb, and you can tell they’re not made with anything artificial. Owner is very friendly and told us that their soup is cooked for many hours. Chinese burger (roujiamo) is also great and my 4 year old son loves it. Price is also very reasonable for today’s food price. Wish they can open up more locations but the owner told us that it’d be difficult because they have high standards and don’t want to raise the price too much.“

“This is a family favourite if you like authentic Chinese food. You know it’s good when a restaurant has line ups to get in and it’s majority Asian people. All the walls are covered with Chinese signs of menus which I can’t read but assume it’s the most popular dishes to try. The English menu has loads of menu options to choose from. The staff are all extremely friendly and all speak English. They help you choose the selections you want and modify to your tastes in my case we wanted it spicy and they accommodated. My family have gone for years and every time receive a warm smile and handshake or hug as though we are family. The food is delicious and love they still give oranges after the meal and fortune cookies.“

“It’s a nice place with unique meats and noodles. The soup doesn’t have a strong smell of Chinese herbs as you might imagine; it’s flavorful! And, the Chinese bread/Chinese burgers are sooo good! The owner makes them himself, and as other have shared, he cares about who and what he serves.“

“An asian food court stall and this one has to be one of my fave spots.

The food here for the price is awesome. Cannot beat the price especially the noodle and rice dishes. The Shanghai fried noodle and the beef fried rice noodle are both under $10 which is a great deal compared to competitors that are going to be well over the $10 mark.

The noodles have great wok hei and the noodles I could eat over and over again. The other good thing is that it all comes with a drink. I have tried the cold soy milk and the cold chrysanthemum tea. Both go very well with the dishes here as it’s cooling with all that wok hei.

They also have course meals which you can choose from several options. And all at a good price too. Can’t remember how much it came out to, but I think the 6 course meal was about $70 if I am not mistaken.

Service is quick and they do speak Cantonese and Mandarin, but I tried some items in English and it was fine.

Super quick turnaround to get your order too.

Parking can be difficult when it is meal times as there isn’t enough parking for the amount of restaurants in this plaza. So will have to be patient or park in the adjacent area where the no frills is.

Hidden in the corner but worth the find! The pan-fried pork buns are always freshly made, crispy at the bottom, juicy inside — comfort food at its best. The price is super student-friendly, and the auntie at the counter is always warm and welcoming. If you’re craving Northern Chinese street-style snacks, this little stall is a cozy slice of home.“

“Came here for a late breakfast and ordered the dry-fried beef ho fun and the braised beef brisket rice. Both were reasonably priced (around $10–$15) and came with soup and a drink (milk tea, coffee, or Ovaltine).

The ho fun was well-seasoned and nicely chewy, not greasy at all. The beef itself was a bit on the tougher side but overall still decent. The brisket rice was also solid and satisfying.

Portions were generous, and the value is very good for downtown. There’s an early set menu before 11:30 a.m., and all-day breakfast options are also available at very affordable prices.

“These are hands down some of the best dumplings for the quality and price. We bought a bag of shumai and a bag of hargow. We saw the lady making them in store. Her husband provided great customer service, and checkout was quick. We were in and out of the store in under 2 minutes. When we tried them today, we felt they were restaurant quality! “Came here on the weekend and the wait was over an hour for the food. We knew this going in, so it wasn't an issue as we wanted to check out other restaurants in the area.

We ordered Curry Laksa (not pictured), Char Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Bilis, Kui Dadar, and Kuih Seri Durian.

The highlight for us was the Char Kway Teow. Great flavor and great wok hei.
The desserts that they have on weekends were also quite tasty and not overly sweet.
The Curry Laksa with the mixed noodles (we got half and half of the 2 types of noodles they offered) were also great as well.

It was amazing for the price and I'm glad my Malaysian friend recommended this place to try out.“

“The golden fish maw soup hotpot meal set for two is absolutely one of to best I’ve had in a long time. The taste is spot on. The beef is exquisite and the homemade meatballs are so dense and no nonsense type. The chicken is fresh. Great ambience overall as well. Highly recommended! The coconut milk dessert that’s on the house as an added bonus just about seals the deal!“

Supper affordable, big portions and delicious!

Just look at all the roast duck they made for the day, still drooling thinking about it.

My fav is the crispy pork (medium fat) with cha siu (bbq pork).

Everything is made in perfection.

It is an older plaza, so dont expect anything fancy, but the flavors are still there 🤩“

“The restaurant is located in an atypical ocation in a retirement and senior care complex. We ordered an omikase style dinner chinese style. We were served an excellent selection of pretty unique dishes that were all very fresh and well prepared. The service was extremely well done qith multiple dish changes. We were a party of 8 plus a child and the table felt just a bit tight. All in all it was a very good meal and would gladly visit again.“

“Very authentic baozi breakfast experience. Honestly I been looking for a place like this for a while. I thought everything tasted like how they are suppose to taste, and their 天津三鲜包 was definitely a highlight: nice and juicy and very flavorful. Dip them in some chili oil and vinegar, and wash them down with some soymilk for a perfect start to your day!

Note however the place is quite small on the inside, and the seats aren't the most spacious (which by itself is also quite an authentic northern Chinese breakfast experience lol).“
