“I am convinced that Portland is experiencing a sushi renaissance, and Koya Sushi is a shining example of this culinary revival. Regarding fish quality, I'd place it in the top 5 (at least) in the Portland metro. On both my visits so far, service was outstanding, the fish was exceptionally fresh and well-prepared, and the overall dining experience fantastic. You definitely won't find better Ikura or Takoyaki around here, that's for sure.Any sushi enthusiast should consider it a must to visit Koya.“

“I have lived near this place for over 20 years and never tried it until tonight. The sign and location are so under the radar I never really noticed it. A friend suggested it and we met for dinner and WOW! The best Japanese meal I have had for a very long time! I ordered the bento box which isn’t cheap at about $25 but you get so much food and the quality is outstanding! I normally don’t eat raw fish but could tell they know what they are doing and ordered amazing sushi (spider roll and hamachi). We had a hard time finishing everything! First course was salad with delicious miso dressing, egg cake, potato salad, crispy salmon and miso soup. Then the main portion arrives with lots of tempura, cucumber roll, rice, homemade potstickers and fried tofu. Just amazing - everything! The service was wonderful. Our new favorite spot!“

“Tucked into the food cartel in Beaverton, this spot stood out from the SMELL. I had the Garlic Chicken, a special of the day, and my mouth was watering even before I took a bite. The dish was well made, full of garlicky, sweet, and salty flavors. I'm giving it 4 stars because I thought it was a tad bit too salty, to a point that it was almost bitter. Another qualm is that I wish there were combination plates available :( but I do understand why they don't allow combination plates.“

“My whole family loves this place. We've been frequent visitors since this location opened. The portions are large & very filling, most often I take home about half of my meal to eat later. Everything I've ever ordered was delicious & I especially love that they don't water down their terriyaki like most restaurants I've been to before. I like mine thick, so it sticks to my food instead of pooling at the bottom.“

“We ordered sushi burritos from this food cart, which had recently increased their prices by $5. We were hesitant to order at first, but we caved because we were craving them and one of us had never tried them before. The service was great! They were out of chicken, but they offered to make us a custom burrito for a small upcharge. However, they later found that they had enough chicken after all, so we didn't have to pay extra. The wrap itself didn't hold up very well. It came apart a few times, which made eating the burrito a bit messy. The seaweed didn't wrap around the sushi fully, which also contributed to the messiness. The parchment paper was also a bit weak, which made it difficult to hold the burrito together.Overall, the food was delicious and filling. However, we don't think it's worth the new price of $15 for a food cart item. We would be more likely to order it again if it was priced at $12. The price increase from $10 to $15 is a bit steep, and we think it's not quite worth the extra money for a food cart item.“

“Finally, an authentic Bento Box! Don't let this little hole in the wall, restaurant fool you... It's actually really good! I've been living in Portland for 3 1/2 years now and had yet to find a true, authentic Bento box, other than what Portland calls their version of a Bento Box: steak or chicken on a bed of rice with teriyaki sauce. This one is the real deal. (See for yourself) Place is small, but tasty. Despite what I've heard about service being slow, the staff was very friendly and attentive. We started our meal with a refreshing glass of lychee sake, and a glass of pineapple sake. Both were served cold and refreshing. Great start My friend ordered the Dagon roll, and the Crunch Spicy Tuna roll, which both were excellent. Since my youth, I have loved Bento boxes . And since moving here, the traditional style has been really challenging to find, but this place fits the bill. The tempura was seasoned nicely and served hot, the chicken teriyaki was great, and as you can see, it began with a starter salad with miso dressing and a delicious miso soup, more than enough to eat. Reasonably priced, and even more so for lunch specials. You can't go wrong in this tiny little place with a big heart and big menu.“

“On March 6, 2021 we ordered catering services from Zen teriyaki and Beaverton. The quality of service and food was amazing and the price point was spot on as well. We ordered their standard catering package and added on salad and 20 Eggrolls total cost before tipping was about $170.00. This was enough good for about 16 people. We only had 12 people, we ate the rest the next day as leftovers. I will use them in the future and I would highly recommend them to anybody who is looking for high-quality food with great service.“

“This place has some of the best Japanese food I've had outside Japan. Everything was fresh and tasty. Prices are great for the quality. Staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Restaurant is clean, and the atmosphere is relaxing. It wasn't quiet, but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't use normal conversation volume to talk. My only problem was trying to decide what of my many options to get. Even my 6 year old had plenty of things off the kids menu and appetizer menu she wanted to try. Will definitely be returning to try more of the menu.Parking: Shared lot for a bunch of little stores and restaurants. Even when places are busy there's always some parking.Kid-friendliness: They do have high chairs. “Cute little shop, stopped in for the lunch special. It's hard to eat out for $8 nowadays but the teriyaki chicken was so good! Came with rice and 2 pot stickers. While waiting for my food, I got a call and had to leave. They had already plated it up so nicely, I felt terrible. “Simply a very refined and creative sushi menu. Many of the items here are completely unique and others feature fish/meat that is hard to find. Some of the prices here are high, but I believe the dishes are worth it. The service is also quick and always friendly. This might be the only restaurant I've been to in the last five years that hasn't messed up any order requests I've asked for. I can be picky and they always get it right! Beautiful presentations with flowers and elaborate plating, a stunning interior, and great sunset views make a meal here an experience.“
