It's a small portion compared to the meat, which I guess is good if you like a lot of meat. 👍 I like the grilled chicken and bulgogi. I frequently go here since I work nearby. It's a little expensive at $15-$20 for one meal for just yourself. I can't imagine taking my whole family here to eat but it's good. It's my treat lunch when I want to splurge. 😋“

“For me to be a judge in hundreds of bbq competitions around the country since 2015, I was incredibly shocked that I hadn’t heard of this place until I saw it on an episode of Diners, Drive In’s and Dives! Had to try it out when I came back to Dallas….and boy let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint!! The sausage was superior to any sausage I’ve tried, full of flavor with an excellent texture. Although my brisket was a *little* dry (most likely because I got there later in the day…) I would be willing to bet money it would be 100% the first couple of hours of opening. That OG sauce is pretty good but the Sweet Jake was top tier!! I DONT HAVE ROOM TO TALK ABOUT THE AMAZING AND DELICIOUS SELECTION OF SIDES BUT HOLYYYYY HECKKKK! I had to get a small little cup of each and not a single one disappointed me 🤣🤣🤣 Most bbq places will either have boring bland “meh” sides and fantastic meats OR good sides but mediocre meats….let’s just say you get the best of both worlds here. The best part about this place was the owner being SO full of life greeting everyone, checking on all his guests, picking up plates, manning the bar, opening doors, saying bye and thank you as we left…and that is what makes this place special. The customer service makes the incredible food 10x better.“

“This is a old-school BBQ joint on Leonard Street in downtown. They have a fair sized indoor seating and some outside tables as well. You can do take-away as well. Opening hours are 11am to 3pm (lunch only), closed on Sundays. Had a very good lunch here recently. The chopped beef sandwich was delicious, sides of okra, potato casserole and beans were great. Ended up taking home a large order of brisket, sausage and more sides for a larger group of friends for the evening. Everyone loved the meal. Two Sammy's meals in one day and was left wanting more. Would gladly return based on this experience.“

“Great hole in the wall Mexican bbq place. I had some Al pastor tacos and brisket sandwich. The tacos had onions and cilantro and I got the green medium hot salsa (which was a good medium spice level). The brisket sandwich was good sized and came with pickles and onions and warmed bbq sauce.“

The smoky chicken hits you the moment you walk in, and it sets the tone just right.\n\nI tried the Brisket Plate with mac & cheese and barbecue beans as sides. The brisket was tender, juicy, and had a great smoke ring—definitely the highlight. The mac & cheese was creamy and comforting, and the beans had a rich, hearty flavor. Their barbecue sauce adds just the right kick, especially the spicy one.“

The brisket was very good in my opinion, perfect balance of fat and lean meat; loved the sauce that was on the side, it was very peppery but balanced with a slight sweetness. Comes with a side of toast and pickles and pickles onions that were also very delicious and good balance. The Mac and cheese was a semi disappointment due to it being spiral noodles but the cheese sauce and breadcrumbs really bring it back to being tasty. Lastly, the dessert, smoked lemon cake. It was hard to judge it, they forgot the berries so it was good but not quite up to par, the cake portion did not taste smoky, was very dense but still moist. Comes with this lemon drizzle/curd sauce that was very good. Worth a visit for the atmosphere and food, but if you're looking for solid BBQ I would give this place a pass and maybe go to hard 8, Hutchinsons or even maybe Loro if you're looking for something more modern.“

“One of my favorite places to eat outside. They have a huge outdoor area covered under the shade of trees and lights. The food is always delicious and hot. I always get the loaded cheese fries to start, and the charro beans as a side. The wait staff is very attentive. It is also dog friendly. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. I believe it was the owner or manager who greeted me, and when he learned it was my first visit, he kindly explained the menu, the dining options, and where to find the different food and sauce stations. I was then shown to my table where a very sweet server brought me water and took my order. Throughout my meal, two other staff members as well as the owner/manager checked on me often. The service was beyond excellent—everyone was attentive, helpful, and genuinely kind. Now onto the food—oh my gosh, the portions were incredible! I ordered three different meats and was so pleasantly surprised at the generous serving sizes. At most KBBQ places, one order barely feels like enough for a single person, but here, each order was hearty and satisfying. I couldn’t stop raving about it to my boyfriend and mom while on the phone during my meal! The meat was fresh, high-quality, and delicious—even without dipping sauces. The corn cheese also deserves a special shout-out—it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Beyond the main dishes, there were so many great options: hot plates like mandu, sausage, japchae, fried rice, and chicken; a nice selection of banchan; an ice cream station for dessert; and a wide variety of sauces to complement everything. The restaurant itself was very clean, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and even the restrooms were spotless. I also loved that the TVs played some of my favorite K-pop groups and the music playlist was absolutely top tier—it really added to the fun vibe. Dining here as a solo traveler, I never once felt uncomfortable or out of place. On the contrary, I felt taken care of and treated like a queen. After a run through our local H-E-B, I knew the trip wouldn’t be complete without triggering a BBQ encounter. This place doesn’t hold back, clean setup, friendly service, and portions that feel like a fully charged Hyper Beam. I went with the Brisket BBQ Cornbread and a side of Brisket Beans, and as someone who firmly believes beans belong in chili, this combo landed like a Critical Hit. The meal filled me up like a Full Restore and sent me home ready to unload groceries with HP restored. Safe to say, this is a repeatable route I’ll be grinding again… and again… and again.“
