“I was here for a corporate team building and loved it so much that I organized three friends outings with teens (weekday before 6pm). I specially like the clean air, camera & screen play, and general upscale atmosphere provided here for playing darts that I haven’t found anywhere else in town.
Everyone loves this place. 90 minutes of fun for a group of 6-8 fly by very quickly, so consider 90 mins to be your minimum rental time.
The beef sliders are delish as well as the spinach dip and pizza. Every food item is small, though. So consider dining somewhere else before or after.
Cocktails have been good. I like the Snapdragon.
If you make reservations, book for a few less people so you are not stuck paying for no-shows. You can always pay for more guests when they show up.
The place is not cheap, though. You will pay per person for playtime, plus food dishes that are small and pricey. Cocktail prices are similar to an upscale restaurant.
It has been worth the experience, but do consider what else you will do before or after because 90 min of playtime is short and if your group has teens, you will be out of there by 6pm which is too early for most kids’ outings.“

“Refuge is an absolute blast and the perfect spot for a late night out. The atmosphere is always lively and fun, and the crowd is great. It's the kind of place you go when you want to have a good time and stay out until the early hours. The drinks are fantastic, the music is on point, and it's always a guaranteed good night. “Delicious cocktails and some of the friendliest service I’ve experienced in a while. Jorge was so welcoming and we enjoyed the conversation with him. They have a drink with ube in it that is divine! Highly recommend the potato croquettes as well. A very fun, intimate, creative bar.“

Greeted at door , has a sub tropic contemporary decor/vibes
Old fashions were affordable, spicy/bitter fwd. didn’t have depth but for pricing it does the job . Would recommend less ice or giant cube instead.

“Today was my 3rd visit here at FMN. They OVERSTOOD the assignment on the food and service. Myself and my 2 daughters ordered the same exact thing, the waffle and chicken. My son however, ordered the lamb chop meal. We all were beyond satisfied with everything. This was my first time coming at opening time and I must say I’d do it over and over. The service was super fast and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Definitely a great vibe. The only dislike I had is the parking crew said parking was $10 and when I tapped to pay the charge was for $11.83. It’s not about the money but I feel like that should be disclosed if you’re using your card.“

“It is rare to find a tiny, friendly, non-douchey bar in the inner loop in Houston to have one cocktail on your way home from work in the most walkable area of this city. This is one of few. It is also "local Houston." It's the way it used to be when many similar bars existed here. It is technically smaller than Manhatten bars in a town where EVERYTHING, including restaurant serving sizes, will feed four people on one entree. If you want to know this city for who it actually is, visit old-school mom-and-pop shops like this.“

“Truly a Houston gem! I’ve been regularly coming to Under the Volcano for more than 3 years and it never disappoints. The place itself gives you such an authentic feel!! The tacos are excellent specially the Buenos Aires…whoever their cook is I hope they never leave. Beer is great and so are their mixed drinks. The staff is always wanting you to have a nice time. Such a fun place to unwind.“

The atmosphere is NOLA inspired and as someone who has family is from NOLA and visits every year that definitely feels like you've been transported into the NOLA's famous Garden District. The drinks were delicious. I had the Pimms Cup which had a seasonal twist with blueberry + cinnamon and it was very good! This definitely is more of a relaxing and classy experience for those who love to be surrounded by elegant decor. Just note, they don't have a food menu selection but we already knew that going into it. Definitely found a new gem in Houston. :)“

“They had a big group in one of the rooms that opened to where we were seated. Even after getting the hostess to close the sliding door between the big party and where we were seated, it was still too loud. We could barely even hear the music playing. The acoustics in such an old building are not conducive to an enjoyable brunch. If we go back, I will call ahead and see if there are any large parties booked at the same time.“

“This place looks nothing like you think it would, the outside is very deceitful. The ambiance was so chill and the details from the gold metal straws, the wallpaper, ceiling, and the velvet green and gold trim chairs were so beautiful and classy. It was my 1st time and I will return. Certain drinks are pricy though, but tasted great!“

“Great drinks and great service. This bar offers some of the best cocktails in the city. All their bartenders are true professionals and even with it getting very busy do provide great service.
The only downside about this place it is kind of small especially with how busy this place can get. You might have to stand to enjoy your drink but you will still have a great time.“
