“I typically really like this restaurant, so maybe they were just off. But the waiter and bartender both insisted that I try a California Chardonnay when I specifically told them I didn't like oaky wines. I was right, and they ended up dumping a 9oz pour. The scallops and risotto, which I normally adore were overdone and rubbery. The cedar-plank salmon that I recommended for my husband based on past experience was literally raw in the middle and burned on the edges. The saving grace was the nice ambiance and the yummy desserts - go for the key lime, you will not regret. I will go back because I've always had great food and service before. I will have to assume that this was just a bad night. But be warned if this is a downward trend....“

“Normally the cafe is a favorite lunch spot but today was a little off. The special was crab quiche and it was not available --"not ready yet" at 12:30? Our server was very nice and capable but overwhelmed--hard to get water, etc. I suspect someone had not shown up because normally she is also excellent. I guess this is a long way of saying, love this restaurant but not this time.“

“I was visiting the DC area and wanted pizza, so I decided to try Matchbox. I love a meaty pizza, so I ordered The Pig, which was loaded with pepperoni, ham, sausage, salami, and bacon, and it was super cheesy! Most of the toppings were underneath the cheese. I chose a 10-inch pizza, which was a good size if you have a big appetite or want to share with a friend. The service was excellent; my waiter was very attentive. The space was clean, relaxed, and private enough for each party to enjoy their own area.“

“Me, my mom & my 7 month old went to Earl’s for dinner last night. We were seated promptly, which was a wonderful surprise for a Friday evening. While we inquired about dining outside on the patio, the hostess was very honest about it being an option but warned us that, due to no fault of the restaurant, the red lantern flies had been a problem for some diners and we certainly appreciated the heads up!
William was our server and he was spectacular, from beginning to end. Despite it being a full restaurant & he was clearly busy, no request was forgotten and we didn’t wait long for anything!
William made good conversation, getting to know us, remembered all of our names, made wonderful recommendations, was honest about the menu options and how they’d align with our preferences and taste buds. He took notice & care of our food allergies/restricted diets & promptly brought out an order of mashed potatoes for the baby. He also made sure to acknowledge and bring out a small treat for my mom’s birthday. He made it a wonderful experience and I’m looking forward to my next visit already!
I cannot forget Jackie -who stopped by our table and was very funny, kind and welcoming!

“I stopped in for a quick drink and ended up staying longer than planned, much thanks to the incredible service from the bartender, Adrienne. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcome with a genuine smile and easygoing conversation.
What stood out most was her pleasant demeanor—friendly without being overbearing, and always approachable. It’s clear she enjoys what she does, and that energy adds so much to the atmosphere. I was unsure of what to order and asked her to surprise me with a drink made with rum and she did not disappoint. Adrienne handled the bar effortlessly and I will be back!“

“We just had a wonderful meal at Mylos. There were 6 of us and 2 children. We all had great meals and service was excellent. They accommodated our request to modify and make 2 of us lamb souvlaki and it was really good. Very nice cozy atmosphere.“

“No frills deli, operated by a very friendly older couple. Pre-Covid prices! 5 stars for the food considering that a burger and fries that’s cooked right in front of you is still somehow cheaper than fast food. Worth a visit just to show them some love.“

“The best shawarma I've had in VA! A hidden gem in the heart of McLean - perfect for breakfast and lunch. They make delicious sandwiches, salads, and sides. I've tried shawarma in many places in the area, but their beef and chicken shawarmas are truly the best I've had in a long time. The meat is tender and flavorful. Their customer service is amazing and they also have outdoor seating. Highly recommend!“
