Coming from the restaurant background, I grew to love food places that have no gimmicks and are true to their standard - Pho Liu is on top of that short list in Seattle.

I go here 3 times a week & they serve consistently high quality pho. The small bowl (pictured) is more than enough & leaves room to try their delicious apps. Fish-sauced wings, spring rolls, egg rolls are all phenomenal.

One way to tell they take care of their craft is how long the noodles can sit in the broth without releasing any starch. Fresh noodles, perfectly cooked, and well strained. Also their bean sprouts and herbs are extremely fresh. Never once have I had soggy or bitter bean sprouts here - which is more common at pho places than you’d think.

The owner family & servers here are great & kind people, as well. The subtle cues are how many regulars I’ve seen on random visits and how well the fish (in the fish tank) are taken care of.

This neighborhood place is truly one of the last pre-tech boom Seattle relics.“

“I have the great luck of eating home cooked Thai and Cambodian food so my opinion is colored by regional home cooked meals. With that, Phnom Penh Noodle House serves up traditional and deliciois Cambodian foods in generous portions at reasonable prices. The servers and wait staff are friendly, skilled, and easy to chat with. You will find three generational dining at many of tables and it reminds me of attending a family event. Come for the great food and come back for the easy going atmosphere.“

“My husband introduced me to Tai Tung shortly after we were married 60 years ago. My sons grew up eating there and much later my granddaughter did too. The food is exquisite, especially shrimp in crab sauce, the service is impeccable and the ambiance is kind of old fashioned and comfortable. “Very good! I wish they did the kalua pork with the combo plates (didn’t notice until I got home) but the bbq pork was really good. Will have to try just the kalua pork next time. Def worth getting the +$1 upgrade to fried rice. Mac salad was delicious, I’m picky about it and often don’t eat it when I get Hawaiian food but this was good. Can’t wait to try more things from the menu. Spam musubi was standard edition but still yummy.“

“Best pho and Vietnamese food I’ve ever had! Super fun place with amazing food. Stopped in and was seated immediately. Every item we tried was outstanding. It’s rare to find a gem that has great service, food, and atmosphere and these people have it figured out. Also, met the owner and she talked to us about how these are her recipes. It just tastes like home cooking and not actual plug and play restaurant food. We’re lifers at this place now! I mean it’s so good we went back the next day.“

“My husband has been talking about this place for the longest time, so we finally decided to give it a try today. We picked everything up and brought it home, and honestly, I’m so glad we finally did!

My husband is from Macau and is pretty particular about Cantonese food, so he was the one who kept telling me we had to try this place. And he was absolutely right — everything was so delicious and tasted really authentic, even as takeout.

We’ve been living in Seattle for over a year, but with all the craziness of moving and getting settled, we somehow kept putting it off. Now I’m honestly wondering why we didn’t come sooner!

“This is by far my favorite teriyaki spot amd my go to! I love their chicken yakisoba, they don't skimp on anything. The food is always fresh and delicious. The helping is definitely worth the money spent. We ordered over the phone and then by the time we get there the food is ready. So service is standard time, which I would expect when the food is that good. I've never had a bad experience here like I've had at many other teriyaki places.“

We ordered Pho Tai and Pho Nam, grilled pork Bahn mi, a bunch of egg rolls, and the sweet and sour pho, which was amazing if you like to explore flavors, dont shy away from it! All of our food was great, there were no complaints from anyone. 10/10 for these guys, a true hidden gem in Tukwila, WA! Fair warning: their chili oil is no joke. I would buy jars of this stuff. “This feels like a hidden gem? The food and service were good. We had complimentary hot tea, hard to enjoy on a warm day but welcomed. I ordered the garlic eggplant, water boiled fish, and one of the lamb dish that had onions. Everything came out so delicious and as I expected from previous sichuanese restaurant experiences. The food is served family style on a large plate with one serving spoon. It can be difficult to eat the food with chopsticks as it gets oily real quick but they provide a spoon upon request. I would love to come back as often as possible if I were closer. It's also pretty affordable for the amount of food received.“

Now the real test will be how good will their food be 18months from now. Common habit for some south Seattle Vietnamese restaurants is the food quality drops off about a year or two of operation.

“This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of King County.

I have been coming here pretty regularly with my family, friends, partner, for years and the quality is always exceptional.

The pho broth is rich and comforting. While I got steak pho this time, I highly recommend trying their veggie pho (it also comes with beef broth). It has mushrooms, beans, and soft sweet carrots.

While it is speedy, it is worth it. The interior has not changed one bit and it is nice to be in a literal home-style restaurant. Sitting in the back room with friends gossiping with the company of the large old jade plant in the window.

If you enjoy the richness of the broth order Nuoc Beo on the side. It is the fat skimmed off the top of the broth. It has plenty of green onions, and will make you sink deeper into the butteriness of the dish.“

It's in busy Pike Place Market with limited space around the counter, so don't expect a traditional sit-down restaurant experience. They give you a menu and a card that you fill out with plates you want to try, then they start bringing the plates over. If you want to add more, you can. Or they can close out your ticket when you are done. I was craving Asian food, and this was close to the waterfront, so I didn’t have to drive to Chinatown. I would come back here.“
