Coming from the restaurant background, I grew to love food places that have no gimmicks and are true to their standard - Pho Liu is on top of that short list in Seattle.

I go here 3 times a week & they serve consistently high quality pho. The small bowl (pictured) is more than enough & leaves room to try their delicious apps. Fish-sauced wings, spring rolls, egg rolls are all phenomenal.

One way to tell they take care of their craft is how long the noodles can sit in the broth without releasing any starch. Fresh noodles, perfectly cooked, and well strained. Also their bean sprouts and herbs are extremely fresh. Never once have I had soggy or bitter bean sprouts here - which is more common at pho places than you’d think.

The owner family & servers here are great & kind people, as well. The subtle cues are how many regulars I’ve seen on random visits and how well the fish (in the fish tank) are taken care of.

This neighborhood place is truly one of the last pre-tech boom Seattle relics.“

Even being to the islands multiple times and my husband being from there (who also agrees). I cannot recommend it enough! “stumbled upon this place and it’s honestly a hidden gem. the broth is super clean but still has that deep beefy flavor without being too salty. i really like that there is no msg and they have gluten free options too, so it feels a lot healthier than other spots.
the beef was tender and they didn't skimp on the portions at all. noodles had a good chew and the herb plate they brought out was fresh and actually green, not wilted.
the owner is a gorgeous woman and the service is really good too. she makes you feel welcome and everything comes out fast. prices are totally fair for the bowl size. definitely a solid go-to spot if you're craving some comfort food“

“We visited the restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon, and it wasn’t very busy. The service was excellent, even though we kept changing our minds while ordering. The food came out fairly quickly. We ordered fish cakes as an appetizer, Pad Thai and crispy garlic fried chicken as our main dishes, and Thai tea for drinks. Everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and thoughtfully packed up our leftover drinks to take home. We would definitely come back if we have the chance. 🥰“

“First visit here and I ordered regular spring rolls, wonton soup and a coke. No complaints, price is fair. As far as service goes, hospitality was there and I found them to be professional, courteous and friendly. The turn around was quick from walking in to completion of my order. The flavor of the foods are unique and i typically get similar dishes at comparable establishments to establish a base line of good, not good. I also love their rice dishes and recently tried the crispy noodle stir fry which is my current obsession! “My first time in and really didn’t have many expectations but was blown away by the friendly staff. Ordered papaya salad w/ tofu. Tofu came fried to perfection in my book. Requested some fish sauce, the server asked if I would prefer fish dressing, big smile on my face :). Ordered a (banh-mi) sandwich w/ tofu, tofu was a little soft for my liking but had great flavor and a overly fair amount of ingredients, two thumbs up 👍. I received a side of fish dressing I used some chilly paste in it, the other server asked if I would like to have the chilly oil… ohh man was I happy with that suggestion!! Loved it!! Would recommend for an authentic flavor and palates. Will return and try more. Super excited to have a very good pho place here at the beach!! Thanks for doing what y’all doing there!!“

“This feels like a hidden gem? The food and service were good. We had complimentary hot tea, hard to enjoy on a warm day but welcomed. I ordered the garlic eggplant, water boiled fish, and one of the lamb dish that had onions. Everything came out so delicious and as I expected from previous sichuanese restaurant experiences. The food is served family style on a large plate with one serving spoon. It can be difficult to eat the food with chopsticks as it gets oily real quick but they provide a spoon upon request. I would love to come back as often as possible if I were closer. It's also pretty affordable for the amount of food received.“

It was the best I ever had! The pork was perfectly seasoned and tender, it had just the right amount of delicious pate, the carrots and daikon were perfectly pickled, it had just the right amount of mayo, chili pepper and cilantro and the French bread, neatly melded with its contents, lended the perfect amount of crispy chewy delight. “A delightful and soothing place right at the intersection of the harbor steps and the Seattle waterfront, a lovely symbol of the ongoing revitalization of the waterfront region in downtown Seattle. There is a lot of great Chinese food in Seattle, but relatively little of it is directly downtown, so it was quite lovely to see this place that offers very savory and sumptuous fare for a very reasonable price by Seattle standards. I have a very close Chinese friend and if she ever comes to visit me, I will make sure to take her to this place. After entering the sophisticated yet not pretentious restaurant, I sat down and ordered a milk tea and some steamed pork dumplings, both of which were delightful. The milk tea was large and sweet, the perfect contrast to the dumplings. I am not sure I would call this place exceptional by the standards of Chinese restaurants, as it doesn't really have a special flair to it, but it is solid and reliable and located in a promising place here in downtown Seattle. There is very little to complain about, aside maybe from how I felt like the staff were rushing me a little while I was eating. These are minor nitpicks, and I would absolutely go here again if I am in the area and feel a desire for some delicious dumplings. The harbor steps region feels so elegant and picturesque, a true testament to Seattle's effort to revitalize public space, and this is one of many very delicious restaurants that have taken advantage of that newly revitalized space.“

“What a wonderful spot and a perfect stop after visiting Kubota Garden. The dining room was clean and spacious, and the service prompt and friendly. The bun bo hue was delicious and a welcome change from the salt bomb broths I’ve become accustomed to from Vietnamese noodle soups in Seattle. The flavors were nuanced and not too heavy or salty. I especially enjoyed the tender pork knuckle and the (homemade?) small meatballs flecked with what tasted and appeared to be makrut lime leaves. An easy place for kids - my 5 year old slurped up his plain pho.“
