“After many years of driving past this spot we decided to give it a shot. Great location, plenty of free parking, and decent food. We ordered two rolls I've never had before, 1) Golden Dragon and 2) Double Tuna Roll - both were delish. Our only complaint was the selection of music that was playing. Very very odd for an Asian restaurant.“

“My most favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle! I am always impressed by the fresh ingredients and great service! The presentation of each dish shows the thoughtfulness of the chefs. The knowledge of a long time waiter, Edward, is amazing and appreciated. This restaurant is on the pricey side so I usually go for special occasions, but when I do go, it's worth every penny!“

“A delicious omakase meal with many items that I've never had before! I've been trying to get a reservation for a while but only recently got a reservation because they disappear so quickly once they are released! It's a bit easier if you have a group of 3 or more and sit at a table but the bar seats go fast. Our meal was a spring menu which included some special spring items such as firefly squid, baby eel, baby sea bream. Chef asked us if we like uni, which is something my husband and I aren't huge fans of, so he gave us an extra piece of otoro instead of a heaping helping of uni! My only slight complaint is that the meal took really long. We had a 7:45 pm reservation, didn't start eating until around 8 pm, and didn't start getting the nigiri until probably 9 pm. There are so many omakase places to try in Seattle so I'm not sure when I'd come again with how hard the reservations were to get, but I'm glad I was able to come!“

“IT'S NOT FISH! It looks like fish and the texture is firm like fish, but when you see it irl you can tell it doesn't quite catch the light the same way, and the flavor is lacking the distinctive taste that salmon has, and the deep buttery flavor of tuna. However, the rolls we got were all very flavorful and well-prepared. I especially liked the crunchy salmon roll, I think is what it was. And the one we got with tempura "shrimp". The seaweed salad was delicious too. I would definitely like to come back.“

“Rondo was amazing. Went for lunch and had an interesting bento box. I can't remember the name as it was on the lunch special menu, but had 6 sashimi, mini hamburger patty, bolognese sauce over rice, and a couple more items. It sounds a little weird but was really awesome! The quality of the sashimi in the bento box and in an appetizer ordered was extremely high!Another review mentioned the bento box being served in a plastic tray even though it was dine-in. This is true, but definitely not something that I think had a negative aspect at all (and it's a nice tray) and matches the vibe of the restaurant, it's an izakaya not a formal dining room. Thoroughly recommend!“

I always find this extra level of service to be nice. I look forward to coming back in a few months and giving a better review. My drink could’ve come out a bit quicker than it did. I waited for water and my tea for, maybe just under 10 minutes. My appetizer also came out after three of my Sushi courses. Maybe they don’t do coursing, but that was not communicated. It also seemed as though the staff they had was not familiar with the full menu. They were not able to make the taiyaki ice cream dessert for me because their main chef was not present, and no one was trained on how to make it. I think these are the kind of things that can be expected from a new restaurant. I look forward to coming back once again when I feel as though they’ve had adequate time to smooth out the bumps. As other people have pointed out the pricing is also quite good for what you get.“

I hadn't had Bibimbap this good since living in Hawaii and Guam. I chose to have with Tofu, though beef is also available. Especially good with a cold beer.- Sashimi: 3.5. The Japanese person in our group rated her DELUXE DINNER as quite good for previously-frozen fish, and says she would order it again. I ordered one tako sashimi and would rate it a 2.5; in future I won't order individual sashimi.SERVICE: 3.5. Enthusiastic and accurate.AMBIANCE: 4.0. Indoor and some outdoor seating. It came with a side of waffle fries which were really well-made as well. There wasn't too much fries, but the whole meal made me pretty full. They gave us complimentary soups which were good as well. The Thai ice tea was very good as well. There was a good amount of it and it was sweet. The service was excellent. Servers were very friendly and helpful. One thing you can expect from this place is constantancy in their food. The teriyaki chicken is juicy, and not rubbery meaning they know how to grill it!. The spicy chicken is cooked with love by infusioning their spicy sauce by wok and adding fresh cut onions, just by taking the time to wok it tells you they are not lazy. The other things on their menu are decent and is above the standards in Seattle's terriayaki world.Serving size is decent, and you will have a little extra if you are the average person with a appetiteThe only issue I have is price. “The workers greeted us very warmly & they were all working hard & skillfully like a well oiled machine...you could tell the servers & sushi chefs were well seasoned. It was a very warm day and we were seated by the front windows, which even with the thick curtains, was still acting like a radiant heated wall! Not a big deal for me as I run cold, but if you are a hot person...this might have bothered you. I was actually wearing a tank top so I was perfect...it was double date night. The fish on sushi & sashimi platters was buttery & fresh. Lots of roll varieties too just how I like it. We started with some appetizers, nice sized shareable portions of tempura calamari & chicken karage. We also ordered agedashi tofu & veggie & shrimp temp, perfect portion sizes for a party of 4 for appetizers. No one ordered any entrees or bentos...although they look really good, we stuck to sushi. They give you a sushi list and a pen and you mark down what you want yourself...I like that too, more control on server making mistakes! I love trying ikura(salmon roe) at different restaurants to see if the chefs marinate the delicate eggs or not. I was pleasantly surprised to find this order of ikura marinated. It was slightly sweet with a hint of sake and not too salty as some restaurants will make it. This order was rich & creamy with the addition of quail egg. We ordered a small sashimi combo with salmon, yellowtail, toro & another white fish...I don't know if it was bonito or what, they didn't go over the items when they dropped the dish...but it was the one in the front on the left. They have an extensive roll list which has a ton of California based rolls topped with numerous options. All really good, but California roll base is kind of boring...maybe they could switch up the centers a little. We got Las Vegas roll...completely deep fried, yummy if you like that type of roll, Polar Bear roll, Cali roll topped with white tuna & seared salmon...YUM, a lemon salmon roll, Cali roll topped with salmon & lemon segments...they go so well together!!!! We also had a Firecracker roll which is a spicy tuna roll topped with more spicy tuna & fried minced garlic...really good with a little extra heat, maybe some jalapeños minced up in there but so tasty. We also ordered a White Christmas roll which is a shrimp tempura roll topped with white tuna, Avacado & a wasabi cream sauce...super tasty. Can't have sushi without a Spider roll & I always have an ume shiso roll...this one had lots of julienned cucumbers in it & a negihama roll to appease my clean, raw fish craving. Excellent sushi & the wait for our food was good. We had reservations & I definitely recommend taking the time to make one if you want guaranteed seating, I saw a lot of walk ins turned away or told they'd have an ample wait. If you're up north, I'd highly recommend Sushi Zen.“

“Wow. Just wow!!!! The Sashimi tastes so fresh, moist, and perfect. The Firecracker roll topped with spicy Tuna was amazing and well balanced. The atmosphere was quiet and serene when I went at 3:15 p.m which was perfect for me. The staff are so lovely and welcoming. Lastly, the plating presentation was lovely <3Everything about this place is amazing! I absolutely love it! Hands down my new go-to spot for Sashimi and sushi!Parking: This is located at a strip mall close to a movie theatre so parking could get full depending on time of day.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to concrete leading to restaurant. Plenty of room inside to accommodate wheelchair accessibility“

“As far as sushi options at this price point go in Bellevue this is a great spot. I prefer this to japonessa or kobe around the same price point. High quality rolls - ordered spider, unagi, and spicy hamachi, all very good and well rolled. Would order all 3 again. It's not top tier sushi and isn't priced like it, I found a lot of value at the price point.“

“This is our go to for teriyaki, only done takeout cuz it’s a easy dinner/lunch on a work day. Best bang for your buck with decent quality food. For $16 you get teriyaki/katsu with salad, 4 pieces of California roll and side of tempura plus miso soup! When pho prices are $12~18 nowadays, this place is GREAT value. The people who works there are always nice and work quickly.“

“I love this place. Affordable simple rolls and sushi and always perfect since it's right in the neighborhood. I do wish they were more consistent when they are open. I almost never can get them on the phone to order and when I go it's hot or miss if they are open during their listed open hours. Still love the place and it's definitely worth checking out.“

“One of our longtime favorite sushi restaurants, Sam's is always delicious. On our recent trip, we enjoyed nigiri, bento box, and udon soup--it was all outstanding. This restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Street parking is hit and miss (no parking lot unfortunately). Now that bento now comes with maguro (tuna) instead of hamashi, but the wait staff graciously provided hamachi (yellowtail) this time only. We'll be back!Kid-friendliness: family friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Door is wide enough, but needed help opening (old building). Ramp just inside was wide, easy to walk down. Regular tables, able to wheel up to one. Didn't use the rest room. No handicap parking but you may find street parking nearby. We found a place out front, there's an old ramp right here too (former loading dock?). Staff was pleasant and helpful.“

“The inside is like mixing up between jazz vinyl and traditional Japanese restaurant theme. The light is quite dim, and the overall feeling is unique (or distracted?).I like the raw fishes they served. I would like to try pieces of sushi next time.Tempura is okay. Not that great but not that bad neither.Udon is pretty...different than usual flavor. It's more like seafood-ish which is from bonito broth according to their description. I didn't like that much personally.“

“**April 2024: Weeknight Afternoon Visit** I had a hankerin' for seafood and found this little sushi spot that was walking distance away from my hotel. I was staying at Hotel 5 and this small joint was just a short 10 minute walk. Upon entering the establishment I noticed that it's really a small no frills counter that serves simple, but fresh and reasonably priced sushi/sashimi boxes. As such there's no seats and this is best for patrons who want a grab and go. Also, FYI they're only open in the evening (4:30pm-8:30pm: Mon-Sat) On my visit I ordered the Sashimi Set B $34.99 (4 pces of salon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore sashimi and salmon belly) as well as a 3rd ave roll $14.99 (albacore, cucumber, and avocado roll topped with seaweed salad, masago, sriracha and spicy mayo. I honestly would have been find with just the Sashimi set, but I my eyes were bigger than my stomach lol. The order came out pretty quickly, and I was pretty impressed with the quality and value. I wouldn't mind coming back here again for casual sushi!“

“Went here for lunch. I had the sushi bento (see photo) plus a special roll (Sunset is the name, it has eel). The sushi bento has tuna, yellowtail, salmon, albacore, shrimp nigiri, crispy rice with crab meat, etc. The bento itself was filling enough. It was good, the fish was fresh, the miso was flavorful but not too salty, and the portions were fair.“

“I believe 9 rolls fill up a boat if that is what you are looking for. I wouldn't say this is the best quality sushi, but some were better than others. the rice quality isn't that good or something, some rolls were kind of hard and wondered if there was any rice at all, but pretty good still. don't even know what I got as I came with 3 other people and we each ordered 2 rolls each. everyone was a able to try a little of each other's order and we were full after that.it did take a while to get our order but that's 72 pieces they had to make.“

“Aoki is a small Japanese place in cap hill with lots of traditional and roll options. I got the sushi bento box which came with California roll, salmon sashimi, 3 pieces of nigiri, salad, and miso soup. The miso soup was pretty standard, the tofu pieces were a little too firm for miso soup and was a little strange but that's fine. Salad was pretty basic. They give ample sesame dressing which I love. California roll was also pretty standard. They use imitation crab and added cucumbers. Nigiri was not bad! The tuna wasn't the freshest, it tasted pretty fishy. The escolar was really good, probably my favorite of the three. The salmon was standard as well. I liked the sushi rice as well, perfectly seasoned, not too sweet or overpowering. We came for weekday dinner and maybe we just came on a bad day, but there was apparently only one chef working and our food took super long to come out. No fault to other parts of the service, the servers themselves were super welcoming and nice. Overall, not a bad Japanese place!“

“Note: We attempted to talk with the managers/staff before posting this, but we were told the fish was supposed to be this way. I didn’t think to take photos because we assumed after talking with the staff the issue would be fixed so we brought them the leftovers. We have been eating sushi for several decades and have never had fish that smelled and or looked like this. Normally we eat here in restaurant, but this last week we ordered and picked up. The tuna handrolls looked like it had been in a meat grinder and tasted bitter. The sashimi special we normally order had all kinds of connective tissue and fat clumps we had to try to tear off the meat because we could not chew through it. Instead of being soft the hamachi (yellowtail tuna) was hard chewy. I eventually spit it out in to my napkin. We gave up when it came to the salmon portion because it didn’t smell right.“
