The food the flavors the pairings the combinations of flavors the presentation on top of an atmosphere carefully curated into a cozy lively Japanese style tapas bar with the most stellar customer service from your servers you can't go wrong here, you just can't. My brain had fireworks going off the entire time I was there tasting everything I had ordered from the duck and beef tataki to the 5 assorted sashimi and the aburi saba. It was "chef's kiss". If you're new to Edmonton and love Japanese styled and inspired foods you HAVE TO COME HERE. Reservations highly encouraged we got lucky to get in as quick as we did without one, but this place is VERY popular.“

“This place is amazing. Great atmosphere, super helpful staff and hostess. Rolls are perfect sizes, with a range of large and small. Our 10 yr old wanted dumplings and the 6pc Gyoza was perfect for him. All ingredients were super fresh, avocados were the perfect ripeness. Their signature seasonal deserts are pcs of art, the amount of time and detail on these are absolutely stunning. I would travel across the city for this place, luckily we’re really close. 10/10.“

“Great place for ramen. I originally came for the tsukemen, but unfortunately they didn’t have any available. I ended up trying their house special, the Tan Tan noodles, and it was packed with flavor. The only downside was that the portion size felt a bit small. Overall, it was still a good experience. One thing that stood out was that the waitress brought the bill and debit machine before I had asked for it.“

The beef tataki was exceptional 😋👌🙌. Beef tataki is my favorite dish to order whenever dining in Japanese and I can say that their beef tataki is the best I've tasted! Highly recommend this dish.
Ika (bbq squid) and their sushi roll did not disappoint either. Both tasted awesome the you can taste the freshness of each ingredients.
Giving a 4 star cause I find the the time between when you order and the food get served on your table took a while. About 25 minutes for the first order to arrive. We were already done with the first dish before getting the next dishes. Well, what can I say it was worth the wait!
We'll come back again to try something else in the menu or we'll order the same stuff again cause why not. They were so great you had to try them again!

“It was a really good spot to have dinner and was honestly incredible. The staff were really nice. The only thing is that you have to order by scanning a barcode, which I didn’t find too difficult. It actually avoids communication issues since everything is done through the website, but it is necessary to bring a phone and have access to Wi-Fi to order. You can always choose the “pay at front” option, where they bring the machine at the very end and you pay there.
The food is really good, and the portion sizes are huge. Everyone I went with had enough to take leftovers home. The pricing is very reasonable. They also have boba tea with a really nice selection, along with a pretty big dessert menu.
It’s a great place for a large group of people, and they are pretty busy even during weekdays. Their braised duck is incredible. Their Shanghai noodles are pretty good, and the stir-fried chicken rice is also really good“

“In the 1990s, Wasabi used to be in a mall close by Whyte Ave. I think they moved to the current place around Year 2000. I haven't been back to Edmonton for 24 years, but the food is still as tasty as before. Sashimi is very fresh with natural sweetness. Sushi rice got the good texture. Tempura was so well made my Mom told us right away! Fried Salmon was good and juicy! I saw the master chef and his wife later. Chef was so busy running around, so I chat with his wife and let her know how much I miss Wasabi and how good the food was. BTW, it's better to do reservation ahead of time. Enjoy!!“

“10/10 food is delicious, service was nice and fast, food was still warm after a 20 min drive home, and the smell was enticing me the entire way. This satisfied all of my late cravings. Only disappointment was no plum sauce with my spring roll, but it makes sense.“

“Where do i start? This was my first time here with my mom and we were blown away! Beautiful little restaurant, this place is a GEM! It was packed for a Wednesday, but the service was consistent and incredible! The tables have extra napkins and there's a nice container with some wooden chopsticks. Your food is served on little wooden boards which was awesome! The wasabi looked like it was in the shape of a flower. The details at this place are amazing . Alot of severers and all of them were so sweet and attentive . I love the tiny portions here, it lets you trt everything on the menu without getting stuffed on rice! The sashimi is small and thin, which is just perfect. Most of the items you get only 2 pieces, you get little rice and its great! Most ayce places give you so much rice with your rolls and the portions are huge. Everything here is delicate and balanced. The beef tatayki was my favorite! Three strips of deliciousness . It makes you order more! I really enjoyed getting my sushi in controlled portions. Because of this me and my mom ate alot. We tried the toro which was extra, but it was melt in your mouth. Theres also an option here to get raw food to cook on a stone! We didnt do that, but you can get fish, shrimp, mussels and steak! You cook it right at your table . Most of the food we had melted in our mouths. What i really enjoyed was that we got everything in all our orders. We didn't have to repeat any items like we do at other sushi places. 10/10, sushi toshi is our favorite place now!!“

“Fantastic casual ramen spot that fills up fast at lunch. The $5 ramen before 4pm is an excellent deal, and the ramen was flavorful, chewy, and served piping hot.

The pressed sushi was tasty, the salad was fresh and vibrant, and the skewers were great. The black cod was the only miss, but everything else was fantastic. Great food, friendly efficient service, and an easy spot to recommend. Place fills up fast for lunch even on weekdays so show up early or go for a late lunch (e.g 2pm)“

The owner is great and always wonderful to chat with and Staff is always amazingly nice to deal with. Never had any problems with the food, And recently their prices have slightly dropped which is amazing in this economy.“

“I had a fantastic experience dining here recently. The food was absolutely delicious and arrived at our table looking perfect.

The sushi platter was beautifully presented on a large dark plate and tasted fresh. I also really enjoyed the stir-fried noodles served on a hot sizzling plate, which were topped with a generous portion of green onions. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Went for $1 nigiri night again and it was as good as always. Got different types of nigiri this time, instead of just salmon. I would still say that the salmon is the best one, but everything is still high quality and good

Went for the $1/nigiri on Wednesday. I arrived around 7:45pm and sadly, they had run out of salmon. But they were able to still offer me 10 pieces! The nigiri was good, the ratio of salmon to rice was good, and the hint of wasabi balanced it out well. The salmon felt relatively fresh as well

The atmosphere was really nice, I liked the dim lighting a lot. I sat at the bar with my friends, and the service was good. The chef even gave us some tuna sashimi on the house which was great!

Also ordered the aburi chop chop roll which was pretty good, and my friends enjoyed it as well! I had a piece of shrimp tempura and sadly, that was a miss for me. The tempura coating was not crispy at all and was a bit mushy, but the shrimp tasted excellent.

“I’ve been here 3 times within 1.5 month because I love the Katsu as it is always fresh and crisp. The restaurant owner was very nice and her crews also very friendly. Today I tried the chicken instead of pork and it was very delicious too. You can have 1 time refill on the salad and soup that is so great. Worth your dollars and they also have buckwheat noodles that fits the summer weather to cool your off from the heat. Will keep visiting 👍🏻“

“I’ve always loved this place—it’s been my favorite spot for as long as I can remember. My father started bringing me here as soon as I could walk, back when it was located on the other side of the complex beside the old Movie Studio (now Remedy).

I recently visited Edmonton again, and after having sushi in many coastal cities, I can confidently say Kyoto still does so much right. I do miss when the salmon skin rolls were tall and flaky enough to fall apart, and when the eel sometimes came out a touch too crispy—but that was part of the charm.
