“I'm a student at UBC and I usually order the penne pesto here, and it's actually really yummy! The pasta is consistently very creamy and savoury, the texture of the pasta is quite al dente, and the serving is rather generous and is able to sate my hunger. The food is also prepared at a really quick pace (like within 4-5 minutes), which is good because as a student, I can't really stick around in the same place for too long, so it's a really nice place to drop by when you have a 1 hour break between classes and need something good to eat.
I also tried the lamb shawarma which is also nice! But the penne pesto holds a special place in my heart and that's usually my go-to.“

“The portion is 30% less than before. I have been ordering from this place for years, I understand with the inflation and everything that they have the price increase, and I'm OK with that, but I'm not OK with the portion size. I still do love the food is always consistent with flavor, but definitely not happy with a portion. The meat had very little amount in there, And I was gonna charge two dollars for extra hot sauce, which I'm OK paying, but the container was so tiny“

“Afghan Horseman never disappoints… my husband and I have been coming here for over 30 years and now it has become a favourite of our kids also. The food…delicious, the atmosphere… unique & cozy, the service… we are always treated like family and we were honoured to be included in their 50th Anniversary celebration this year. Tonight we enjoyed another fabulous dinner experience and we got to share it with our friend from Germany who loved it. “As usual, I ordered the shawarma platter and the quality is on par with most other establishments in the area. (Although the chicken used to be better when they prepared it on the spit. Now it's done in a convection oven)
I particularly like the whipped garlic sauce they offer. Which I don't see this in many other middle eastern restaurants. The hummus is also light and fluffy.
The Saj wrap was a nice change from traditional pita bread wrap.

“I've been to many Pakistani restaurants but Karakoram Restaurant stands out for its authentic flavors and generous portions. The karahi was spicy and savory, and the basmati rice was fluffy and fragrant. The staff were friendly and attentive and the prices were very reasonable. I'll be back for more of their delicious dishes!“

“A great late-night option for wraps and platters, my personal preference.

Chicken/Lamb/Beef platters are $18.49 each, and my portion was happily hefty when I picked it up in person versus ordering via DoorDash/Uber Eats. It comes with Greek salad, 2x domaldes, 2 potatoes, rice, and a heap of meat that gets covered in 2 sauces of your choice.

I also ordered a side tabbouleh that I wish was more dominant with parsley, but it’s still decent, and quite filling with the extra quinoa.

The location was super clean, and the customer service was sincerely warm and friendly. Not sure what’s with all the negative reviews, but in my opinion, if you enter with a smile, you’ll get served with smiles in return.

“Their portion sizes are amazing! This wrap is so huge and perfectly balanced with lots of meat and veggies. Not even joking it’s like 2lbs and it’s only a regular size not a large. The people that work there are the kindest too! Amazing flavours, so worth the price (which is 9.99$ before tax) for this MASSIVE thing.“
