“We recently dined in March restaurant in May 2025. The food and ambiance were excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised with the discovery of this restaurant in Victoria. Please note that this is not your typical Chinese restaurant that serves the run-of the mill dishes for a quick turn-around; instead, this restaurant serves authentic Cantonese cuisines. The chef is passionate about his cooking -- they use the freshest produce and ensure that customers enjoy the pure and natural taste of the dishes. The restaurant is tastefully decorated; it is devoid of the 'loud' Chinese lanterns or traditional writings -- and this reflects the owners' attention to detail. Dining in March is a delightful and satisfying culinary experience. Highly recommended!“

“This was my first experience at Laila Laila Hot Pot, & my hubby & I were very pleased! We chose a dual pot; half bone broth, half spicy broth. Both broths were so flavorful (I’m obsessed with the spicy broth!) They have a wide variety of fresh ingredients to customize your soup & sauces. The whole experience is unique & we will definitely be back for more!“

I thought the ingredients were very, very fresh and prepared in a way that wasn’t the slightest bit oily. The spring rolls were made from scratch lightly fried. All the vegetables were crunchy. The rice dish It’s very fresh and delicious as well as the chicken and the pork! “We had amazing tasting vegetable fried rice and Kung Pao chicken - served in very generous quantities. The fried rice was made with lovely spices and zero soy sauce - but so good we ate way more than we meant to. (We are eating leftovers tonight!) Incredibly friendly, family operated. AND they so nicely customized their Kung Pao chicken to leave out the peanuts due to an allergy problem. Such a nice lady... married to the chef. The restaurant serves more traditional Chinese and a little north American- Chinese cuisine. It's a small restaurant that you might miss going down the street but we recommend it for the absolutely fantastic food.“

“Jack's Chinese Restaurant is by far the best Chinese restaurant in town.
We're relative newcomers to Victoria and have been to numerous Chinese restaurants in search of something close to the taste and quality of what we experienced regularly in Edmonton.
The presentation, portions and flavour brought me back to the family dinners of my childhood in Vancouver and I wouldn't hesitate to bring my parents here.
We'll definitely be back to enjoy the lovely service and excellent food.“

“Been here quite a few times already and always had a good experience. Food comes out hot, portions are solid, and the place itself feels clean and relaxed. Usually I get takeout and it’s always been quick and convenient for me.

I really like their rice, curry, and noodle dishes. Simple, filling, and consistently good every time I’ve been here.

The location is also super convenient with lots of parking nearby, so it’s easy to stop by without dealing with downtown parking problems. Staff have always been friendly and service has been fast.

Definitely coming back again.“

“This was a great late stop in place. I’ve definitely had better Chinese food but the service was homey and there’s a good caring feel to the restaurant in general. Reasonably priced generous portions (combo for one could’ve definitely served two) and pretty decent fare. Will say the smell in the old restaurant changed my experience a bit - almost like cigarettes. I pretended it was the seventies and lived my life.“

“We were there to celebrate my dad’s birthday and the owner made sure we had the best experience. They recommended some of the chefs specials and family loved every dish we ordered. The portions were generous and the flavours were amazing. Mom said you can feel good FengShui the moment you stepped in and that must because of the owners warm service!“

“Oldie but goodie place that offers simple western food and chinese food. We went here for Chinese food and it didn't fail. We're asian and we're happy that they have the needed condiments on the table. I asked for the chili and she happily provided. We went at 11:45am and all tables were occupied for lunch. Servings were big at a lesser price. Worth the walk from Tillicum Centre.

“We had a Chinese Christmas celebration at Golden City today. We were about 180 people and they still made room for others who came for lunch. There were over 10 courses which were all delicious - hot and fresh. There was a set up for music and people from our group sang Christmas carols and Chinese songs at a karaoke mic. The service was excellent. The price was reasonable. It was fun all round.“

I got a plate with the choice of two main dishes with rice or noodles and an eggroll.Such tasty food, I tried breaded pork, and beef and broccoli along with noodles and veg. “Absolutely delicious Chinese Food! Almond Chicken exceptionally crispy. Each dish so fresh. We ordered the dinner for 5 - we were 3 adults. We left with 3 boxes of take home. My husband and I just enjoyed our box for breakfast it was that good.
