Take a look at our favorite Escondido Mexican restaurants. Explore a variety of Mexican flavors, from a Carne Asada Plate to California Burrito, and enjoy great Mexican cuisine in the city.
“The meat of the Adobada was .... *Chefs kiss* ? fatty, flavorful, everything you would want. The carne asada also was good. For anyone on a low carb diet, like myself, ask for half Adobada and half carne asada, no fries but with everything else. Grab some grilled onions and jalapeños and throw those on top with some radish and lime and their red and green salsas.... You will not be disappointed. A TON of food for $16 total. Worth every penny with that flavor and I was stuffed... I would've liked green onions but tbh the ones they had were fine.“
“Pretty good food. Not the best Mexican food, but not at all bad. It's a bit confusing lining up at the counter to order in a sit-down restaurant. The staff is nevertheless attentive and I noticed they were very good about taking older folks' orders at their table.“
“We live in fallbrook but, my daughter works in Escondido so when I picked her up we looked for a place to eat and, we found this place and we decided to go in there because I was very hungry and, let me tell you the food was great and so was the service, I will definitely go back and recommend this place, I’m giving a 5 star because they have this salsa bar and they had my favorite salsa macha yummy“
“Great little (hideously ugly) spot in an industrial neighborhood. Big tasty portions served by friendly staff at a shockingly low price. Tacos and burritos are great but don't sleep on their tortas either. It's my go-to for if I need a quick lunch for the guys at the shop, I know it will be ready quickly and everyone will love their food.“
“I never knew this food truck was here and I decided to give it a try. Its really good I wasn't expecting them to be this good. I got adobada, asada and cabeza. I highly recommend to come eat here. They have a lot morw things like quesadillas, mulitas, burritos, carne asada fries etc. The horchata is good as well. Service was good, it was pretty busy when I came so you might have to wait a bit, but even then they were quick with the tacos.“
“Was House sitting for my Aunt and Uncle and this place popped up when I was searching on Google map to see what was around. Besides Mexican food you can sit down like a restaurant and order other food too. All I got was a rice bean n cheese burrito.“
“Great Mexican spot! The food is really good and the portions are a very good amount. The selection of Aguas Frescas is great and they have seating inside and outside along with warmers so late-night tacos will be comfortable.Parking: Only street parking which is plenty depending on the time.“
“I put my husband on with the best Cali burrito hands down! Now he craves it 24/7 it's our go to Mexican food location, no one else compares to the taste of authentic food & salsa! Pregnant cravings approved too my little man kicks like crazy every time I feed him from Mendoza's!“
“My wife and I had lunch here recently while visiting from the L.A. area and were pleasantly surprised. The food was good and the lunch specials were reasonably priced. Service and ambiance were good. We would go back again the next time we're in Escondido.“
“Do you like Mexican food? how about fresh chicharron and meats? fresh tortillas? OMG! the best anywhere. I travel from chula vista san diego up to this place for some chicharron! then i take advantage and get some tortillas. I always get a burrito because its fresh! FRESH! they have a butcher place so the meat is fresh all the time not frozen for their kitchen. you can get freshly cooked tortillas still warm from the thermal. they have lots of mexican candy and chips! my favorite place to go!“
“It’s a franchise but this is located in a gas station. I was a big skeptical but the tortilla was great and the Cali burrito. I wish they had hotter hot sauce/ salsa and the meat was marinaded/cooked a little differently but still overall, a great to go food and burrito. Solid option if you are pumping gas and are “
“Wasn't planning on coming here originally but found this place on Google maps. Immediately walking inside I noticed the cleanliness and the simple layout of the Market. The cashier was very nice along with the crew in the kitchen. I ordered a asada burrito with 3 birria tacos. Waiting for the food, I appreciated the organized placement of goods for sale and the location of the kitchen and seating area. The food was great and the service was professional. Will be back. 5 out of 5.Parking: There are a few spots up front but if they are all taken you can park a little further out by the oil change building.“
“We had shrimp tacos, steak burrito and cheese quesadillas. My husband inhaled his burrito and the green salsa he got with it, it was that good. And I, well.., I know I maybe shouldn’t make that public but I licked the paper the taco came on ? our toddler ate the entire quesadilla plus my cucumbers. great service, chill atmosphere, good music & fantastic food ???No pictures cause we ate too fast ?“
“Mi Reyna gets 5 stars from me for multiple reasons. Starting off with what y'all wanna know -- the food is bomb asf. Me and my homie split a carne asada burrito and a quesabirria for $20 and awesomely-- on the ebt card Flavorful, the most juicy carne asada I've had in a long while, and the cheese they use is hella good. I loved the sauce, the burrito overall was hella creamy. Speaking of sauce, they gave us both salsas no question-- and both tasted super fresh w a nice kick. They also had what tasted like a roasted chili oil and that was my favorite. The quesabirria was super juicy and cheesy, and it came w onions and cilantro for the consome which was also very tasty. Overall I'd say this place was a pleasant surprise and is a great place to go to if you're looking for somewhere less busy around Grand Ave. One of the few Mexican restaurants in esco that takes ebt so that's a major plus. Good service and good food.“
“Great food for the price, good service, nice relaxed atmosphere. If you dine in, they bring you chips & salsa, and sauces for your food, so don't bother with the salsa bar unless you're doing take-out.Parking: Shared mall parking, with 5-6 spots in front of the restaurant reserved for restaurant guests.“
“Had the chorizo breakfast burrito. It was good overall but pricey for a burrito that definitely needed more chorizo in it to avoid it tasting like it's just an egg with potatoes and cheese burrito. I had the beans and veggies on the side that are also usually in it.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes.“
“Came here for the first time I am very picky when it comes to birria, the tortillas were like the ones in Mexico, we haven’t found anywhere else that makes them the same except here. The Birria tasted great. Great parking and fast, nice staff. I will be referring friends and family here. Very “
“The layout is nice here, they have a outdoor patio for seating. The burgers here are delicious. The sauce they put on it is their own spin of a Mac sauce. The krinkle cut fries are nice and crispy, and I was honestly blown away by the guacamole. I just wish it was available in a larger size . I added jalapeños to it with a touch of salt and pepper. It was delicious. The take out was quick, parking is limited.“
“The food was excellent and priced very well. We had Tamales Jovita cater for our wedding event and everybody loved the food. They’re not usually open on Sunday but they worked hard and was open for us to make our day special!Definitely check this place out if you’re looking for great food!“
“If I could give Los Panchos SIX stars I would! We just had a memorial service catered by Los Panchos and they were absolutely the best I've ever used! The food was absolutely delicious, as always, and the way it was presented was just as wonderful! We had their Tacos de Carne Asada, the Tacos de Pescado along with their Ceviche, which in my opinion is the best Ceviche in San Diego! All the side dishes were amazing too! Elizabeth Diaz who handles their catering was so professional and such a pleasure to work with! Everyone that attended the memorial was absolutely impressed with how delicious and super fresh all the food tasted! I love going to the restaurant, and now I would recommend 100% their catering service too! Bravo to their chefs as well, the food was muy delicioso!!!“
“First time trying this place, and it didn't disappoint. We called to order for takeout they said 10min and we got there just in time and they were hot and ready. My boyfriend got a Bacon, egg and cheese burrito and requested extra crispy potato hasbrowns and he got it just like that, I ordered a Machaca burrito and it was huge and delicious as well. We recommend the red salsa, just the right amount of spiciness. Overall good place.“
“I love this market, the vibe is good there. They have ice when everyone else has run out. They are always well stocked, and the manager/ owner is sweet. The store, albeit a little older, is always clean.Tons of drinks, staples, and little nick knacks hard to find elsewhere. I am happy to give them my business and hope they have many years there in the future!“

“So my boyfriend is the king of knowing good places specifically mexican placed as well. So my mom wanted to bring my grandma some food for when we go see her. My boyfriend was telling my mom and I about this place because he says they are known for their fish tacos. We decided to try it out and bring some to my grandma. When we entered the place it looked very cool, the design and the decorations were very cool. The workers only speak spanish as far as I am aware because when my mom tried she only only responded in spanish. I ordered for us and we waited inside for our food, while waiting the lady also brought us a complementary consome de camarones. We got 2 fish tacos, 1 fish burrito and 1 carne asada tacos. It was so good! oh my gosh the food tasted wonderful, I usually have been pretty picky with my food especially mexican because my boyfriends parents good is unbelievable delicious!! I always compare it to theirs haha! This place is so freaking good and I would absolutely love to come back for some food! I wasn't able to finish the tacos because they were pretty big. I recommend coming here for good mexican sea(food).- Así que mi novio es el rey de conocer buenos lugares específicamente mexicanos colocados también. Así que mi mamá quería llevarle algo de comida a mi abuela para cuando fuéramos a verla. Mi novio nos estaba contando a mi mamá y a mí sobre este lugar porque dice que son conocidos por sus tacos de pescado. Decidimos probarlo y llevarle algunos a mi abuela.
“This is the place. Authentic Mexican cuisine. We found out about Lourdes from some locals and haven't looked back since. If you're not familiar with their Tortilla Soup, you haven't lived yet! Delicious, fresh, made with care. Great to bring for all those sick people out there with the Flu right now! Sure to warm them up!“

I ate the entire thing lolPlace is clean They have a lot of tables and chairs .Customer service was great ??Bathroom was clean !Will come again ♥️❤️❤️❤️Dietary restrictions: Vegan options“
“Why do people buy tortillas at big box stores? I have asked my wife multiple times about this - Pretty much lost count. In my opinion, people should just use cardboard if they are looking for convenience and savings. My wife never knew that I only bought tortillas from local factories before we got married. I kept telling her that bad tortillas can make a great meal horrible while freshly made ones can make a mediocre meal almost great at a bare minimum good. I finally had enough and bought a few bags from Esperanza's Tortilleria. They did not drop the ball. My wife may not admit it, but I can see on her face that the freshly made tortillas made an enormous difference. Moving forward, we will only buy our tortillas from Esperanza's!“
“It is great to have options for vegan, especially in Mexican food. It is a small eatery with a few tables, comfortable enough for a quick dine-in. The chorizo potato phatties were really good. The enchiladas suizas and handmade tortillas were ok, not as flavorful as we had hoped. One of us ordered the sampler plate, but it was not fabulous, just ok. He didn't eat much of it. We were told the only way to get salsa was to order chips and salsa, which we did even though we didn't eat the chips - just wanted salsa. Salsa was good.Vegetarian options: Menu is vegan!Dietary restrictions: All vegan items! They were kind enough to look into whether or not their chips and other items were GF. Because products may change, we suggest you ask them also if you have dietary sensitivities or restrictions.“
