The quality of the ingredients (and taste) is what keeps me coming back they use grass-fed beef, wild-caught seafood, organic produce, local ingredients, and avoid seed oils, which is surprisingly hard to find.

I suppose it was because the Taco Oasis shack was a first for me,beng used to restaurants, but those people know how to prepare the most tasty tacos I’ve ever eaten. “South of Nick's, located in One Paseo, is a great restaurant with a great selection of Mexican cuisine. The delicious, not-overly-salty tortilla chips are served with beans and mild and hot salsas. I highly recommend ordering the fresh guacamole for the table to share; it's a great complement to the chips. It was difficult to choose an entree, but I went with the El Vaquero. The steak was cooked perfectly, with the enchilada being the best I've had in San Diego. It also came with filet taquitos, guac, and refried beans, all of which were wonderful. I highly recommend South of Nick's for your next dinner out, regardless of your party size.“

There is a little bit of indoor seating and a lot of covered outdoors seating with shade cloths hung down the sides. Not a bad vibe at all despite it being connected to a gas station parking lot.“

“My favorite burritos in San Diego. I grew up on Mission-style burritos in the bay area. Impossible to find those in San Diego, but at Caliente I get the veggie burrito and add whatever meat I want. That is as close to a Mission-style burrito I can find in town. Everything is excellent, fresh, and good quality. Ask for the orange habanero sauce, it’s amazing!“

“found the Las Vegas Sayulitas 2 yrs ago when staying at the Luxor. there burritos are beyond spectacular. big and so delicious. I can't say it enough. and the sauces on the little sauce bar are outstanding. I've never had anything like those sauces. the hot green sauce and hot red sauce are phenomenal. I like the green the best. I lived in AZ years ago. went back home to upstate NY. there is no place near me that even comes close. I’m not sure how long the special is going on, but they have a shrimp Diablo Burrito that is bigger than my forearm filled with the most delicious sauce and shrimp and rice and beans for only eight dollars. “Taco Tuesdays are my favorite day at this place because the food is great. However, I’ve heard that the food might be different on other days.

One thing that really annoys me is their payment system. You have to pay for your order first and then wait in line for it. The line can be incredibly long, sometimes over 30 minutes.

Despite the long wait, their system tacos are amazing on Taco Tuesdays.
Word of caution: the Al pastor tacos can be very inconsistent, one day they can be crispy with full of flavor, other days they can be soggy and bland.“

“I don’t say this lightly—this place is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. The décor is colorful without being over-the-top, and the music added just the right energy to the dining experience.

Now, the food—absolutely incredible. We started with the super nachos, the guacamole inside was perfectly seasoned with just the right kick of lime and jalapeño. For the main course, I ordered the carne asada tacos, and they were out of this world. The meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, served on soft, handmade corn tortillas. My friend had the enchiladas verdes, and she couldn’t stop raving about the tangy green sauce and how everything was cooked to perfection.

What really stood out, though, was the attention to detail and authenticity. You can tell everything is made from scratch and with love. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing—our server even recommended a house-made horchata that turned out to be the best I’ve ever had.

“I've been a local customer for a long time. I've been here since I was a kid. Things have changed a lot with this place throughout the years. When I was younger, Rubio's used to have lots of pictures and a fish tank. Now, there aren't many pictures and the fish tank isn't there anymore. I still support this restaurant because the food always tastes good!

When I was younger, I used to order from the kid's menu and get a cheese quesadilla and a churro. Now, I order burritos and sometimes get churros too. The Shrimp & Bacon, Especial, and the California burritos are a few of my favorite things to order from the menu!

Rubio's is one of my go-to places to get lunch or dinner because I really like their food! Any burrito I get always comes with chips. Also, I appreciate that this place added touch screens. The touch screens are helpful because I get to customize and place my order without having to wait in line.“
