“The service was great, and the food was even better. From the outside, it's not easily noticeable that it's a restaurant. But once inside, the staff are terse but very welcoming. The tables and chairs don't have much flair. It felt like a cafeteria. Every table is close to each other, so it's an intimate dining experience. If you can get past that, the food makes you forget about the sterile like environment. Your taste buds just transport you to another place, a place where bellies are fulfilled and smiles on faces are everywhere.Parking: The parking is behind the restaurant“

“After seeing some vids about how great the mul naeng myun is here, I had to come try with my family. My sister and I got the mul naeng myun and my grandma got the sagol dduk mandu guk (ox bone soup with rice cake and dumplings). The broth of the naeng myun was clear and crisp, but a little bland, I had to put in a lot of the mustard paste and vinegar to increase the flavor. Overall, I liked the thinness and texture of the noodles, but the flavor of the soup was nothing too out of the ordinary. The banchan though... deserves a standing ovation. The side dishes were fresh, well seasoned, and Korean grandma approved. I think I preferred my grandma's rice cake soup to my naeng myun, but I would be willing to come back and try their other dishes. We got a pajeon (chive pancake) on the side as well, which was crispy and came with a lovely soy sauce on the side. The waitresses were also very attentive and kind. The restaurant was nearly empty when we walked in for a late lunch on a weekday. Overall a great experience :)“

“If you’re ever in the Southbay in LA do yourself a favor and source this seafood gem. It’s ALWAYS busy and I don’t like waiting in line but I will here. The benefit of seafood being fresh is because they sell enough that it’s always excellent. There providers must love the account and take good care of them.Okay, ceviche is a must do with tostada chips, avocado and a slew of hot sauces and a self serve salsa station that also offers marinated white onion ribbons and wonderful whole roasted yellow chiles dusted with a red tangy red spice.Tacos come with a variety of seafood options, I suggest the battered fish as a beginning test since you will come back for them anytime you go again, just trust this.Prices are reasonable and the staff are very happy, why not, everyone eating there are friggin happy too. “#Best bossam and delicious Korean food in LAAmong Korean foods in LA, one of the foods that is hard to find is pig's feet and bossam. Gobau House here is the place that conquered LA Korean food with just bossam. It is a long-running restaurant that has been around for over 30 years where you can enjoy not only bossam but also a variety of delicious menu items such as seafood and green onion pancakes, kimchi pancakes, tray buckwheat noodles, cheonggukjang, and soybean paste stew.I've been a regular here since I first settled in LA in 2007, and it still has a great reputation.#atmosphereAlthough it has a slightly dark atmosphere, it is always full of customers and there are many servers to handle the large number of customers, making it a lively and noisy place. Looking at the customers, many of them come for family meals and many come for gatherings. This is a place where you can feel the quality of the food and its abundance.#side dishThe side dishes here are really delicious. When you're in the United States, the importance of side dishes and how much you crave them are amplified... but when you come here, that thirst is quenched. The slightly spicy soybean paste was especially delicious, and both the kimchi and seasoned vegetables were satisfactory.#BossamFirst of all, the visuals of bossam are rich.Assorted Bossam comes with boiled pork, jokpyeonchae, and steamed skate, but the portion is so huge that I have never been able to order one yet.Instead, in the case of regular bossam, pickled cabbage, pickled cabbage, pickled pickled radish, salted shrimp, seasoned dried radish, and pickled jalapenos are provided along with the bossam. The pride of this restaurant is pork that is gently boiled without any odor. The lightness of pork was well preserved without the use of herbal medicine. Here, my favorite conditioner is <Jeot Shrimp>. Instead of salted shrimp with a lot of water, it is a good idea to remove the water from the shrimp and add seasoning to the shrimp, which captures both the flavor and texture of the shrimp. Pickled jalapenos are a godsend, perhaps a last resort solution that takes advantage of American characteristics. Jalapenos provide a sweet and spicy flavor that goes well with bossam.#cheonggukjangCheonggukjang is especially difficult to cook at home in the U.S., but I always order Cheonggukjang when I come here. It used to be really delicious, but after returning from living in Korea, the soybean paste-like and sweet taste felt a little awkward. But it still tastes good. You can enjoy Cheonggukjang in a variety of options as they provide a spoonful of vegetables to mix with the rice.#ribPlease grill Korean-style ribs, not LA ribs. The seasoning is just right, the grilling is good, and the ribs are above average.Of course, it is much more delicious than BXX soft tofu.#Kimchi pancakeIt's not sophisticated, but it tastes like it was baked at home. It's a shame that it's a little oily, but the taste of jangtteok with red pepper paste and the freshness of kimchi are in perfect harmony.Overall, it is the best Korean restaurant that is not inferior to Korean food, but it feels even more upgraded with American characteristics. When you miss Korean food, you won’t regret going to Gobau House!!Super highly recommended!“

“Heard so much hype about Soban so I wanted to try it out. The inside was a lot smaller than expected so try to come when it's not busy or make a reservation before. The dishes were really flavorful and I totally understand why there's so much talk about Soban. I demolished the braised black code which was my favorite, and I'm not usually a big fan of fish. The flavor of the fish was to die for and even the veggies were cooked perfectly. The braised pork ribs were also good and the stew was probably my least favorite. The price is pretty hefty and I can't say it's worth the crazy price tag, all three dishes came out to be around $160 and the four of us shared the three dishes. I think less is more here because the banchan is also really good and fills you up. Service was a bit slow but maybe it's because I went during a slow time and there was only two staff in the front. “A lovely little place with authentic Japanese ramen and more! They were actually waiting when we came in (it was rainy and I think we were the first for the early afternoon) and yes, they ARE Japanese. My "nihongo" is not great, but the woman who welcomed us was all smiles and when I mentioned how it was KINDA cold ("chotto samui desu") she laughed and immediately started to speak in Japanese* and told us to sit wherever we wanted. She worked mostly in the kitchen area, but also took orders, while another older woman took our order but she, too, was very friendly. (*no, they speak English, you don't have to speak Japanese :-D )My wife and I started with the Chili Garlic Edamame, which is served warm and the flavor of the sauce it comes in was very tasty. We couldn't finish these because we dove into our entree's, but reheating them, at home, we finished the rest! They give you quite a lot of them!My wife got the spicy ramen and, not having had curry in quite a while, I ordered the chicken katsu curry. I will say, I was subject to LOTS of cheap ramen for a couple years, in my twenties, and it turned me off of ANY ramen, going forward... However, first my wife offered me the pork that came in the soup and it was very flavorful and the broth was great (you actually get the spicy seasoning as a little "blob" you stir into the rest of the broth) once I tasted that. So, I went ahead and tried the ramen noodles and I think I MIGHT try my own bowl the next time I go. It doesn't hurt that it was a rainy day and it was so nice, inside their place, with the warm soup... ;-)My katsu curry was great.. They actually serve the plate as rice, the katsu chicken and a japanese salad (can't remember what the greens were called) and the curry is separate so you can pour as much at a time as you want. The flavor was rich, just a little sweet, but not like some "Curry House" places that make the sweet overtake the savory. Overall it was just a great experience in this quaint, yet warm, restaurant. ** Also funny was that, while we were waiting for our food, I noticed that whatever music channel that was going was playing Miyazaki movie songs. Just added to the charm of the place for me... "Arigatou gozaimashite, Palms Ramen Yumeya!" :-)“

“Fantastic restaurant! They are known, as the name in Korean suggests, for their cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew). Absolutely delicious. The staff working here take care of every detail in the service as well as the food. Price is also good. This is definitely one of the gems of ktown - homey, authentic, and delicious. Ample parking, but the restaurant itself is on the smaller side. There can be a small wait if coming at a popular time.“

“One of the better places for their kimchi. Fresh, good amount of chili paste, and just felt perfect. Tried the seafood soup which was pretty good but used frozen seafood which was expected. The noodles were cooked well, could be a bit more chewy. Will likely pick another noodle dish next timeService was kind. The atmosphere had a fun food court vibe“

Also, I was given complimentary salad, but the lettuce was a bit soggy. My server was a young woman, very sweet, warm, and attentive. I enjoyed myself fully, and I plan to go back again when I am on that side of town.“

“My wife and I came in on a Sunday afternoon, at first we were going to have something else originally but my wife and I decided let's get some KBBQ. We googled and we wanted to try some place new. Yellow Cow was the place and we are sure glad we found this place. It wasn't crowded which my wife and I prefer and were seated immediately. We were greeted with such amazing genuine hospitality and service, that we knew we were in the right place. The gentlemen who first took our order was so kind and a absolute delight, I wish I had gotten his name. My wife and I ordered the prime brisket for our 2 options and the quality of the brisket was phenomenal, it also comes with fresh salad & complementary sides. The gentlemen who took our order were also kind enough to lay our meat down on the grill before we started to cook, which I thought was a nice touch of service. The ladies were so sweet and full of love that it was radiating off of them and made us feel so welcomed. When they would come around to our table they made sure we were ok and comfortable and asked how everything was. One of the ladies even gave us some recommendations on how we could incorporate the side dishes with the BBQ which we thought was very thoughtful and pleasant. All in all we are giving the Yellow Cow a 5-star due to everyone's effort, genuineness, service, ambiance & food. I highly recommend if you're looking for all the above. We will be coming back for sure. ?“

“I live about 5 minutes from Sawtelle and Seoul House of Tofu is where I go when I am looking for quick and decent soon dubu without making a trek out to Ktown. When it comes to parking, the lot can be a bit of a nightmare due to the busy Sawtelle location, so I like going during the weekday when it's not so crazypants there. Walking in, the restaurant itself is chill. The food comes out quickly and the portions are generous enough. The quality of the food is also good, standard. I wouldn't say it's the best, most fantastic place, but it'll satisfy my cravings! The service is good and it's usually easy to find a seat, even when it's busy. The thing about Korean food on the westside is that it is freaking pricey!!! We ordered the pajeon (Korean pancake) and a galbi/soondubu combo. The pajeon was $17 (insane to me) and the combo meal was $30.. but HEY, they know there's a demand for it on the westside and can get away with those prices! My favorite part about dining on Sawtelle though is after my meal, I usually treat myself to some boba, ice cream, or egg pancakes (all of which are sold in the neighboring businesses). Despite the high prices and high-traffic area, I will likely come back to this restaurant many many times.“

“I'm not sure what the low ratings are about. It may not be the trendiest place, but it sure is a solid go-to for no frills, yummy ramen. The space is small and connected to a karaoke bar; some of the sound gets through. Value is their selling point. $9 gets you a satiating bowl of ramen while paying $3 more still gets you a heftyyyy size. The Kotteri Shoyu ramen was flavorful and the noodles were well-cooked. The only thing I would dock a star for is the chashu seeming a little dry or overdone for my liking, but that wouldn't be enough to stop me from coming back though. Service was quick. We were in and out in 20 min!“

“I was really craving veggie egg rolls. So I decided to try Jin China Bistro. I was not disappointed. They were fresh and perfectly crunchy on the outside and the cabbage and carrot were crunchy on the inside. That and some sweet and sour with hot mustard……well I wish I’d bought more. I also ordered my favorite hot and sour soup. I have to say it was extraordinary. I had to add some chili because I like my soup spicy but other than that I couldn’t put it down. The dried fungus made it especially delicious and extremely healthy. I’m a bit of a foodie and you can tell a lot about a restaurant by its egg rolls and soup and I will definitely be going back to Jin China Bistro! It is also very beautiful and the perfect place for a date. The food with the ambience and friendly service makes this a 5 star restaurant in my opinion.“
