“Alex was our waiter for an outside table yesterday and it was cold and he made sure to bring the heater closer to us, check in on us often. He was an amazing waiter
and such a personable person. His attentiveness is top notch! The kind of service our table of 6 got yesterday was beyond my expectation, being around his aura calmed me down. Thank you Alex sincerely because we had such a long day from the competition and the drive from San Diego. I liked the calamari and shrimp scampi!“

“Solid 4. Had a fun Saturday night with friends at this Mexican restaurant on Hermosa beaches boardwalk which was very busy and happening on Saturday. We sat outside in a semi booth with a fire pit which was very nice and cozy. The weather was great. The service was also great. We had their ceviche trio and guacamole for appetizers. They were great tasting but the ceviches was too small for all of us to get a good taste. I ordered the carnitas which the server also recommended. Unlike other places the meat is not shredded but rather is in pieces. It was good but as expected there were a few chucks of fat. It was a great deal at $28. My wife got the tostado which was huge. Overall the food was great. The ambiance is good too as long as you don’t mind the heavy rock music sound coming from across the street. This is quite a bit different than the Palmilla in Newport Beach which is more romantic.“

“We ate outside, on their roof, which was quiet. Heat lamps were available. Service very attentive and friendly, conveying that your patronage was appreciated. Food very good. Since I had told them when I made the reservation that it was an anniversary dinner, they comped a hot fudge sundae dessert. On Tuesdays, some bottles of wine from their wine list are half price, making it less expensive to buy the bottle than to buy two glasses.“

“You can tell the food is going to be amazing when the chips and salsa are spot on. I went with a group of six, and we ordered a variety of dishes to share, giving me the chance to sample several entrees. My top picks were the ceviche marinero, langostinos, camarones a la diabla, and the tacos gobernador. The only area that could use some improvement was the service. Our waiter only checked in when we placed our order and when the food was delivered. We had to get up to request napkins and order additional drinks.“

“Amazing food! I haven’t had a good meal like that in a while! I recently checked out some of the well rated restaurants in LA, such as RVR and I have to say this is hands down superior. The food, the vibe, and the server was also very attentive and friendly. The portions are very small and I felt like for the price, they could be a little larger.

Highly recommend and will go again!

“We come here at least once a month. My usual go to is the mojarra frita, the seafood soup, the oysters and one of the shrimp dishes.

I really like the tostalitos with shrimp and octopus ceviche but that dish along with the other ceviche dishes including the new sashimi dish all have too much salt. Recommend ordering a side order of rice with any ceviche order to counter the salt.“

“Pick fish from the counter and they cook to order. It’s like an actual fish market, where you have to get certain items from different counters. The quality is fantastic and I’ve never had a bad meal here. Service is 9/10 times great. There are some who take their job WAY too seriously though (talkin to my guy with the pen in his hat screaming at customers “hey lady I take my orders HERE”, bangin on the counters… ?).
the pick up window used to have an order-ready screen. Now they just call it out and it’s pretty chaotic. You have to go up 5 times to check if your order is ready… or just stand there for 20 mins.
Also, the tables are GRIMY. Ask for crab paper at the window so you can cover that gnarliness up. Alcohol prices very reasonable!!“

“We are out of town and we were looking for a place to eat and I found this place. My mom got the Baja tostada it was delicious it’s so big it’ the definitely feeds two people. “This is our first visit. My daughter and I are blown away. We had warm ? and scallop salad for appetizer. So yummy! ?? For main we each had the grilled red snapper with different rubs. Their coleslaw is made in-house and is delicious. Go! You won't regret it. We're from Canada and we will be back!

“We really like this location, and the food quality is great. Best sourdough bread ever! My only issue is that I have repeatedly tried to register for the rewards program, and it always says there's an issue with the final verification step but that they are aware of it and nothing happens. I've been 3 times spending 84 to 100 each time and didn't get points in the program.“

From the minute you walk up the steps, you're greeted with friendly faces. The dining area is beautiful, especially for a romantic evening. The bar is fabulous with an amazing selection of fine beverages.

Moving onto the food, the squid starter is exquisite and just melts in your mouth. The Cioppino was to die for. I think I cried a little at how astonishing it tasted. The service was terrific, with very friendly staff.

The views of the harbour were dazzling, especially with the evening breeze coming through the slightly opened windows.

This restaurant deserves every bit of praise I read about it. It was so good, my wife and I went back the following evening to do it all again.

I'm running out of words to describe Baleen Kitchen - phenomenal and exceptional indeed.

“Super good! Prices were good. Portions were big. Flavors were on point. You could tell, from the texture of it, the raw shrimp was really fresh.

Thought it was really creative that one of the salsas was chilli oil. Paired well with the ceviche and chips. Would of never thought of that. Really cool.

“Last week I was traveling through LA on my way to Santa Barbara. I had some time to kill so I looked up Poke. Came across this amazing place! I am admittedly new to Poke. The staff took good care of me and I wound up having such a hard decision. I think the spicy Poke might have been might absolute favorite. I can’t wait for my next trip to LA so I can stop there again!“

“I ordered the Family Box #B it consists of 12 pieces of fish, a jar of oysters, 12 jumbo shrimp and large fries. It totals out to $44. I like that you can tell them what kind of fry you want on your seafood. We prefer medium fry. The tartar sauce isn't great, too much mayonnaise in the recipe. The fries could be cooked better and seasoned. The wait is about 15-20 minutes if you go in.“

only reason i docked a star for food was that the guac wasn’t as good as everything else. but i inhaled the chips it came with. i heard another table say they’re made in house. perfect chip. got a shrimp and fish tacos shrimp was great but that was one of the best fish tacos ive ever had AND they have a taco tuesday special? 🥳

have to say for the record that their Caipirinha was better than the one i had on vacation in south america.
