50 Best Seafood Restaurants near Playa Del Rey

“I came across Playa Provisions when in town for business. It was a short Uber from the airport, so I figured I'd give it a try. This place is an absolute gem! It is a unique setup that has everything you'd possibly need from morning until late at night: Cafe in the front for coffee and fresh baked good, as well as full breakfast menu. Later in the heat of the afternoon, take a break from the beach (right across the street) and enjoy hand scooped specialty ice cream cones and shakes. Oh look, it's dinner time... and Playa Provisions opens their dining room and bar, some of the best, most relaxed ambience you'll find for miles around. But don't let the casual setting fool you, this is some incredible, elevated cuisine. Chef owners Nick and Brooke (who you might recognize) crafted a menu that's I've been eating my way through, and have yet to find a dish that's not delicious. You've been eating and drinking all day, and are exhausted? Don't leave yet! Wander into the back 'secret' whiskey bar, (Grain Whiskey Bar) and enjoy hand crafted cocktails from award winning bartenders (no, literally), in a gorgeous wood laden atmosphere. I consider myself a foodie, and try as many different restaurants and cuisines as I can. And yet, Playa Provisions remains my favorite restaurant in LA (and that's saying something, considering the amazing places in LA). Run, don't walk, to Playa Provisions. You'll thank me.“

“This is my favorite sushi place! I especially love their salmon, it’s so soft and delicious. They also have a great variety of sushi. One of my friends doesn’t eat sushi, but he can order other fish or even meat dishes here, so I can invite him to sushi beluga as well. I love this place!“

“The food was very good. I dined solo and had chicken liver mousse, the yellowtail crudo, the peach and tomato burrata salad, and the crab cake. The mousse was rich and interestingly paired with pickled blackberries and honeycomb. The crudo was delicious with the refreshing citrus. The salad too felt very fresh and like I was holding on to late summer. The crab cake was good, the sauce had a nice balance of spice and sweetness, it was very salty which is not unexpected with crab. The service was kind and attentive. I was very pleased with my experience and would return again if I'm back in Santa Monica.“

“Love Saltie Girl, ambience is warm staff welcoming and all the seafood is so creative - ive had the clam Chowder which comes with marbled potatoes crispy bacon on top and atleast 3 clams in the shell some of the best ive ever had. The fish & chips is divine with perfectly crispy fish and crispy and pillowy soft fries. Oysters were fresh and the bone in dover sole sublime - great drinks too my mom loved her totos straight up martini. All in all bit expensive but worth every cent while fining there or ordering in“

“We accidentally found this place, and it turned out to be such a wonderful surprise! The sea bass fillet was absolutely delicious—the fish itself was perfectly cooked, and the garnish complemented it beautifully, even though it included fried onions, which I normally wouldn’t expect to pair so well with fish.
I highly recommend this place from the bottom of my heart! ❤“

“Excellent service, amazing lobster 🦞 with crab rice. I just wish I was given the prices before agreeing on the upgrade. I ordered a family for 2 and CJ server offered to make it 3ppl. I was kinda surprised with my bills and how the restaurant dictate the gratuity %….Overall, I love dining in this restaurant because we were welcome and were given a great and warm reception. Thank you to the staff who made us feel special especially to CJ she was amazing. Indeed, the most expensive meal I have eaten lol it’s worth it.“

“Dude absolutely freaking delicious. This is my 3rd time coming to this place. And every time I come, I am craving the cocktail with shrimp and octopus. It taste so fresh and so home made.

The place is always crowed with people ordering. It's a small establishment, but very well organized, super clean and with air conditioning on which keeps it cool inside. Next time, I am going to try the shrimp tacos, as many order them.“

“The food was absolutely delicious. The service on the other hand needs improvement One in our party of 4 had their drink served 20 min after the rest. It was a martini but came with no olives when olives were asked for. It seemed the waiter had too many tables and the lack of good service really distracted from the overall dining experience“

“The sushi here is amazing for the price!! And the katsu chicken was also so delicious !! I would suggest checking out yama!! The reason why I gave it a 4 stars and not a 5 star is because the space is super small, and it does get overwhelming! “The location is great being right on the beach and has a great atmosphere. As a heads up it can be a little loud inside. The rockfish crudo was very good and light, the snap peas were great, and so were the prawns. We also got the mussels which unfortunately had have that had not been opened (or so very little you could not even use a fork). They were able to make us a half batch to remedy this. Overall the location/buzz does much of the heavy lifting.“

“Seafood quality is better than supermarket quality, and of course this means you’ll pay more for it. The cafe food is great but very pricey coming from someone visiting from out of state. We got the poke bowl, the calamari and clam chowder, the lobster roll, and the Dungeness crab pasta. There is also a good selection of alcohol and Asian sauces as well as vegetables.“

“The signature dish is the crab in sauce, which comes in medium and large sizes. medium is two crabs with two bowls of rice, and large is three crabs. Compared with other Korean restaurants, the sauce crab taste is mild, and it will not be salty enough to explode in the middle of the meal and cannot continue to eat. The crab is fresh, not fishy, and the meat is firm, not squishy. The crab meat is also very full, the crab legs are full, there is no empty shell crab. The sea urchin rice is a little smaller but the sea urchin is enough. regular sea urchins are not particularly sweet, but they are fresh and worth the price. The sea urchin Rice bowl combo will be served with steamed eggs, runny eggs and two prawns in sauce. Raw marinated salmon rice is amazing to me. The salmon is marinated just enough to be flavorful, but not overly salty. The portions are generous. You can eat two bites of each piece of salmon.“

It's sparkling shiny and looks eat off the floor clean. The food is fast food priced and is not just a great value in a taste test with nearby El Tarasco that looks more local than this franchise ready busy choice. The taste here is the clear winner. You get less food but for half the price. Mahi Mahi fish taco compared to just the fish of the day at nearby Fiesta.“

“I took my husband for Father’s Day brunch/lunch at our favorite Italian restaurant here in the Palisades and as always it did not disappoint. It never does. He loved his steak and eggs, steak was Devine and I loved my chick pea soup. Always have the panne cotta and the cherry gelato and an espresso in their delightful patio and you’ve been to Italy!“

“The best seafood boil we have ever had. My twins are allergic to seafood and this is the first restaurant that was able to accommodate my girls. They made us a “no seafood” seafood boil with potatoes, corn, sausage and boiled eggs with their amazing capt loui sauce. I know our request is unusual but I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our girls dream come true they've always wanted to try a seafood boil without their throat getting itchy and this is the first ever without any cross contamination. If you are looking for a seafood boil restaurant that can accommodate allergies, vegans, vegetarian. I highly recommend this restaurant. I also want to add that they had free floss pick by the bathrooms. I thought this was a great touch! Thank you so much for your amazing customer service.“

“The first time I ever had a lobster roll was here. I AM GLAD it was here. Maybe it was just the bartenders turn at the music I dont know. They were playing mid 90's 2000's rock the whole time, banger after banger! I was looking for a quiet place to eat, but this place took me by surprise so I stayed. The Lobster roll was amazing, warm and Buttery. NOT CHEWY! Beer selection was awesome too. You gotta try the crab and jalapeen dip, also the calamari was delicious. I will be coming back! If you want the dive bar feel with fun employees this is the place.“

A young gentleman name Andrew went above and beyond to provide exceptional service . He was very nice, professional and overall a very happy person who loved his job. “Great food and would have been a wonderful dining experience. However, our initial experience upon arrival was not very welcoming. The hostess explained that we coukd be seated and served only in the bar area at one of the hi tables or the bar itself as we did not have reservations. We of course said, great no problem. Upon sitting at a hi table a server approached saying that we couldn't sit there without the hostess' approval, at which time we explained that she had done so. He refused to let it go, continued to argue with us about server assignments etc. Then he just walked away to go discuss with the hostess, who in turn came to explain weird situation and tell us that it was fine to remain at this table. The rude server continued to display attitude and disdain throughout our meal. Our main server Peter (?) Was actually very professional and attentive.“

“This is my 2nd trip here and the food never disappoints. The service though is the only knock on this place. The servers are polite but the food comes out soooooo slow. I ordered the marlin tacos and the pescado zarandeado. I devoured the marlin tacos they were so good and shared the pescado with the table.“
