“My kids, me, my husband, my brother in law, my best friend, her family, the list goes on, all LOVE this place. Some of them drive from Chula Vista to eat here. I haven't had a bad dish yet. Carnitas, Carne Asada, Pollo, are all done perfectly. My favorites are the number 1, and the Carnitas Plate. If you're not into meat though try the veggie burrito, the Chile relleno burrito, or the bean n cheese burrito. You can also order the 3 sopes plate with refried beans instead of meat. That plate with meat is a favorite too if you like Sopes. I almost forgot about their chimichangas... I know where I'm headed for lunch today.

Vegetarian options: If you're not into meat though try the veggie burrito, the Chile relleno burrito, or the bean n cheese burrito. You can also order the 3 sopes plate with refried beans instead of meat. Excellent food here.

“We purchase TO GO every few weeks from Lake Murray location. Every staff contact is excellent, food is prepared hot and fresh with great seasonings and meals are a good value for the dollar. Restaurant and restroom are clean. Parking is good, as is drive through. The rewards program is a nice perk, too.“

“A Fresh New Spot for Tacos

Señor Taquero is a brand new taco spot that opened in July 2024, and everything looks pristine—beautiful light fixtures, sleek white walls, a modern black-and-white theme, and spacious black tables and chairs. They’ve even got a few TVs and a somewhat empty-looking restroom. The large kitchen area promises a lot of potential.

I went for the 3 Taco Special and tried the adobada, fish, and carnitas tacos. The adobada had perfectly marinated pork with rich flavors, and the carnitas were tender and flavorful. The fish taco was an excellent combo of crispy fried fish, mayo, and chopped cabbage—everything worked together nicely. I also ordered a carne asada taco as an extra, and the beef was cut to just the right size and seasoned perfectly.

The staff were super friendly, and while the place isn’t widely known yet, I really hope more people discover this hidden gem. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Surprised and delighted by the size of the servings - the delicious cauliflower appetizer was so abundant that I decided to share a salad - after enjoying chips and salsa, of course. Great salsa - not too mild nor too spicy. My husband said the carne enchiladas were delicious - and again, an abundant serving - which accommodated the higher prices.“

“Caldo de Res $13 excellent! Came with roasted dry chilies cilantro onions rice lemons big flour tortilla (big enough to finish soup) good portion size and really good flavor. Good combo of meat/fat, really tasty soup just wish they had a salsa bar I had to ration salsa to finish meal, I received chips & 2 salsas red and green both great flavor, I asked for 2 more for my soup, extra salsas are 25¢ each

Great spot but if you love to drench your food with salsa may want to go elsewhere, overall I would recommend giving them a try.“

“Love Sombrero Catering! It is such a great deal to feed a crowd and of course, the best Mexican food so everyone loves it. And we didn't have to cook. We got party platters and they were a hit plus Sombrero delivered them for us. The enchiladas are the best, that sauce! We also got carnitas, beans, rice and all the fixings plus chips and the BEST SALSA ever! YUM! We brought a few party platters to friends over the holidays too. It is always a hit. “First time eating here after passing by it manytimes. They bring chips and salsa ( i prefer a picadillo type) its hot but lacks salt (for me) I ordered the carna asada steak ruce and beans combo for $21 the steak was cooked to order and taste good. It was chewy or undercooked like some places. The rice and beans had a home made taste and they serve food sized portions. I also had the bacon wrapped shrimp. These were tasty but a bit dry and overcooked in the oven. I had a margarita which i felt was a watered down slushy. And lacked flavor which i kinda of expected since this isnt a typical bar but they should blend and add nore flavor as after 5min its pretty much a watered down drink with minimal
Alcohol. My party also ordered the barbeque chicken which i think was baked and rubbed with adobo rub and it was a 5 out of 10 i wouldnt reorder. The cheese enchilada and other plates were good. Server was prompt and friendly overall a good restuarant and staff was nice. They have 1 stall each for men and women restroom. There is a bar inside if you want to watch a game id give it an 8 out of 10. The parking can be a challenge as they only can accommadate about 7 cars unless you park on the street.

“This is the best Mexican food in San Diego, maybe in California.

The food is perfect and the freshest in town. I love their veggie tostada so much! And the potato tacos and rolled tacos are awesome, too. The chips have a great flavor and their chipotle sauce goes well with everything and is not a crazy amount of spicy. Their Spanish rice is delicious. Veggie tostada, side of rice, and chips with chipotle sauce makes a great meal!

The people are friendly and everything seems fresh and wonderful. Well balanced flavors. Generous portions.“

“The first time I visited the taco shop. I ordered the ground beef roll tacos, it was an option for small ones or big ones I order big ones and they were delicious. Taco shops rarely sell a ground beef roll taco. The service was pleasent and the food is a good price. I will be returning soon.“

“Formerly Sun Tacos I was introduced to this local La Mesa business about 9 years ago when I went down with my girlfriend at that time. It's been through some different names but it's still the same food with some minor additions over that time. Great food at a reasonable price with some outstanding customer service when you order food. Everything on the menu is going to be great and delicious and always fresh. Every time we go down there it's the usual spot to go when arriving and when leaving La Mesa If you're in the area it's a must-visit and enjoy some good Mexican food.“

It has a homemade flavor that we appreciate.We have our favorite items such as the Carne Asada burrito served with rice and beans and the 1/2 lb Sirloin burger topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms, served with perfectly streamed veggies and mashed potatoes. It also comes with either salad or soup. Salads are good and I definitely recommend their Lemony chicken and rice soup. Food taste : Really great tortilla and everything inside the burrito tasted really fresh and tasty! Red chunky salsa from the salsa bar is so good!! I love that they also have carrots and tortilla chips on there as well.
