“Really great neighborhood sushi spot with fresh fish and great appetizers. Huge menu selection. It’s always packed and busy so be sure to make a reservation. Great service too, really enjoyed my meal here. My favorite dish was actually the vegan roll- asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, and carrots wrapped in avocado with roasted red pepper—so delicious.
Vegetarian options: The vegan roll was delicious“

“Incredible service from Adam and the rest of the team. There is an open kitchen showing everything being prepared right before you. I was especially surprised at how quickly the dishes were coming out. The hand rolls were incredible and the most delicious specials! Honourable mention for the Mochi, a must try! Honestly some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! 100% would recommend ???“

“My friend and I had an exquisite dining experience at Bar Sawa. Each course was prepared and presented to perfection. The place was a little tricky to find; there were no signs, and it was in the basement of a very unexpected building. You can also only get down there through the middle elevator! The instructions to get to the restaurant were emailed, but I didn't get to read it in time, so it was my fault. ? We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, ambiance and the entire experience. Highly recommend!“

“This is absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant in LA and I have been back now 10 times. I have lived here for 3 years and was looking for a fresh, well made sushi joint and finally found it. The owner is so kind and welcomes you upon walking in. I always get the miso soup, crispy rice and albacore fried onion roll. Everything is cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The ambiance is lovely with 1950s jazz playing and quick service. I cannot give this restaurant enough praise. Highly recommend!!“

“Superb place. Unfortunately Jonny Won (?) left couple of years ago but the current Chef is more than capable of upholding this restaurant's glowing reputation for exceptionally fresh ingredients and superb cooking skills. My only advice is to stick to fish and leave the meat dishes as, although nice, are not quite "wow" as they used to be.“

“Come here for happy hour! Mad we missed it by a half hour. Happy hour 5-6 and 8-9. Most of the rolls and apps and drinks are on the happy hour menu at a very discounted price. Rolls on happy hour are like 13 instead of 18 or 19.
The edamame app was huge, plenty to share. We were 3 and couldn’t finish it. And it was super fresh with a good amount of salt on it which I like. The rolls were fresh and delicious. I liked the shrimp tempura and ultimate salmon roll. The garlic ninja roll was good too. Those were my favorites. The salmon crunch roll was too spicy for me. The plum wine was very sweet. The matcha beer just tasted like beer but was colored green. I guess there was matcha in there too but I didn’t taste it.
It was quiet on a Monday night. I made a reservation but didn’t need to. Very casual place and wait service was very friendly. Lots of robots also roaming the street and picking up orders :)“

“Omakase by Osen , a traditional Japanese dining experience where the chef selects the dishes for you, offers a truly unique and personalized approach to sushi and Japanese cuisine. This restaurant brings the authentic art of omakase to life, and it's clear that the chefs take immense pride in their craft.
From the moment you step inside, Omakase by Osen exudes a warm, minimalist ambiance with a modern twist. Soft lighting, wood accents, and clean lines create an inviting, intimate atmosphere that feels both high-end and welcoming. The staff are professional, attentive, and knowledgeable, with a deep understanding of the ingredients used. They are eager to explain each dish and offer pairing suggestions, which enhances the experience for diners unfamiliar with Japanese culinary traditions.
The food is, without a doubt, the star of the show. The menu reflect the freshest, in-season ingredients, and the chefs craft each dish with precision and care. The sushi is exceptional, each piece is an artful masterpiece. The fish is impeccably fresh, often sourced directly from top-tier fish markets, and the rice is perfectly seasoned. Highlights include buttery, melt-in-your-mouth toro, delicate sea bream, and rich uni. The accompanying garnishes and sauces are thoughtfully balanced, never overpowering the natural flavors of the seafood.
Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine.“

“I don't write Google reviews but I had to because this is the best establishment I've ever eaten at. The service was excellent. The staff was kind, checked on us just the right amount, and had baskets that sat beneath the table so purses didn't sit on the floor. The cut salmon sushi roll was fresh. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had in my life. The fries weren't crisp but the flavor made up for it. If I was from here, I would never shut up about this place. But since I'm not, a passionate Google review will have to do.“

“Lovely spot for Sushi, very elegant and chic. I definitely enjoyed the sushi tasted very fresh and had that silky taste to it. It was also my first time trying the purple flowers I forgot the name but they were delicious. I'm unsure if its very busy but it looked almost empty when we arrived very calm and pretty. The little shopping center outside was also fun.

“We had a good dinner here. We ordered miso soup, seaweed salad, salmon sushi, mixed tempura, spicy tuna roll and a rainbow roll. Everything was very good. The seafood was fresh and had great flavor. We really have no complaints regarding the food. Our server was lovely and they were very attentive. The downside - it's definitely on the expensive side and the atmosphere is okay.“

“Anyone with a Shellfish Allergy who still loves sushi (Read This!)
My wife and I celebrated our 7yr at Sushi Takeda this last Friday. We made reservations for the Nigiri Omakase (this option had a disclaimer that they could accommodate for shellfish allergy online). I want to note that my allergy allows me to enjoy seafood while being around shellfish and really only triggers from cross contamination or consumption giving me a strong stomach discomfort and acid reflux.
Chef did a fantastic job providing me with the utmost care around my allergy. Washing hands, using a separate cutting board, cleaning knife, and even providing me with my own soy sauce and letting me know between servings which will pair to avoid cross contamination. There were substitutions made throughout, all were very enjoyable and equitable to the original course that my wife was having. I had 0 symptoms whatsoever!
The team at Sushi Takeda were all very kind and helpful throughout our dining experience. We were given a squid pairing with my glass of sake (very dry option) I had ordered which complemented each other very well, courtesy of the team at Sushi Takeda! My wife ordered a plum wine, her favorite, which if you are in the mood for something a little sweet and unique is a must-have.
Each piece of our course was intentional and handled with utmost care. Chef took the time to explain every serving throughout. The nigiri omakase was an exhibition of art and flavor with great variety and the freshest cuts of fish LA can offer!
PS. Chef was awesome for striking a pose with us in our couples pic! ?

“I am Korean and have been to many sushi, tempura, and omakase restaurants in Sapporo.
It's good here. It's good, but it's really crappy. It's no exaggeration to say that it's salt sushi. When Koreans go, please ask for a little less seasoning. Otherwise, you'll feel like you're eating from a soy sauce container.
And it's so, so, so cold. I'm not a neta, but I go to Michelin and pay $500, so I can't help but wonder why I'm shivering from the cold. And when I hold the nigiri, I don't know if it's a habit, but every time I hold it, I take a small amount of rice... a little bit from the nigiri. It feels a bit like an amateur. The fact that there were a lot of tsumami made was enough to give that feeling.
And the chef speaks a little Korean.
This business could get better if they just don't use Chrome Hearts chopsticks and show a little more consideration for their customers. The food was good, and except for the saltiness, the sushi and neta were good.“

“Super tasty! King Yubu is a little hidden gem kind of place. Really delicious Korean style sushi. Think like little pockets with all kinds of fillings on rice. I got the Signature King Yubu, the spicy pork belly and the unagi Yubu with a spicy tuna and tempura sushi roll. All really good we also tried the kimchi loaded fries really big portion definitely a shareable portion. It was corn cheese with kimchi on the seasoned fries you can get different toppings like fried chicken or bulgogi but just the fries by themselves were super good so we went without all the extra. Definitely coming back to try the other options on the menu looks like new updates and ideas coming to the menu all the time. Great job chef.“

“Leo is the best chef. So kind, personable, and knows his sushi. He makes just about everything from his ginger to his soy sauce from scratch even though he’ll tell you, “no soy sauce” for most of the sushi that comes as it should be eaten. Best sushi restaurant on Ventura Blvd by far. Make sure to try his dry aged fish!
Parking: There are a few spots behind the restaurant.“

“Probably the best Sushi/Sashimi place in Los Angeles.
I know fresh and quality sashimi/sushi and this probably the freshest I've seen in a long while. The owners are super sweet, top notch service and the restaurant interior is so clean and comfortable. Again the quality of the fish was above the norm.“

“The best sushi you can get in Los Angeles. It can easily hold its own against some of the best places in Japan. I love dining here and if you are fortunate enough to get a reservation I think you will have a great time. The food they make is certainly with a Japanese palette meaning that there are dishes presented here will not be all melt in your mouth fish that most Americans want. There will be a variety of tastes and textures. I love it, but I can see how some people may not love every dish.“

“I pop in here probably once a week sometimes twice for a glass of wine. The bartenders are very cheerful and informed with respect to varieties and flavors and all the jazz. They walk you through the options and make tip top recommendations. The place is always slammed at night, yet the manager is extremely accommodating and always finds a place for me to chill and savor the weekend ambiance. I’ve never had their food, but it looks delicious. All the servers are friendly and have excellent people skills. The outdoor space is a fun hang too if you have a group. I always feel spoiled here. 5 star experiences.“

“The fish is always very fresh and their pricing is great. I recommend the sushi lover!
Tony is very nice and always provides great customer service. I try to not use plastic and create trash, so I ask them to put my to-go orders in their paper containers (instead of the ones with plastic lids) and he always accommodates.
I recommend this place and like that they, overall, use less plastic than some other places (but would love to see them use even less).“

“During my trip to the U.S., the best food I had was sushi. The quality of the fish was exceptional, and everything from the appetizers to the dessert was perfect. You could really feel the care and high-quality ingredients in every dish. The service was also incredibly friendly. I enjoyed a delicious omakase with friends in a private room. If I ever travel to the U.S. again, I’ll definitely visit this place again. Highly recommended!“

“The most professional and efficient Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. We sat down at 11:00am and our Sashimi platter came at 11:06am. The speed is just amazing. I can tell they put a lot of thought into their pricing. The Unagi Don is pretty price reasonable with $28. But the sashimi platter deluxe is very over priced considering only 5 piece of otoro and no Shrimp or Scallops were given. The rest of the fish like hamachi or spicy salmon are just cheap ingredients. But it is still a restaurant you should definitely try.
The server is super attentive and professional.“

“Dr Dre and Andersen Pak restaurant. Sign me up! The service and atmosphere were great. We ordered alot of food and got to try alot of different things. Some were great like the wagyu beef and others were just OK which is why I gave it 3 stars. It's probably closer to 4 considering the service was great. Drinks were good also. I will admit in not a sushi person so I only tried one piece of sushi and it wasnt for me.“

“There are so many sushi places in Studio City. This is just inside Sherman Oaks by one block, on Riverside, so it's a real neighborhood place. The food is great. Truly homemade. “Great sushi.Hits the sweet spot between the fancy, super high priced sushi and the lower end, bare bones (but still not cheap) sushi.Excellent quality fish with creative garnishes, and large portions. We tried only one special roll and it was sensational. Unlike many large rolls at other places, all the individual components stood out. (Often, I find these big rolls essentially interchangeable.)Not a cheap meal, but great cost to value ratio.Bryant is a terrific, enthusiastic server.“

“This is quickly becoming my favorite sushi spot in LA. Might be in the top 3 for best sushi I’ve ever had in LA. “We really enjoyed our dining experience at Kenbey. The sushi is fresh and you can tell the chef cares about each piece he serves. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of 3 things. The first is that I didn’t like the sauce that came on the hirame and the sauce on the albacore with the slice of garlic. Second, we tried the Hokkaido uni, it was a very dark orange (so not the freshest - we should have gone with the Santa Barbara uni) and so bland and flavorless. Third, for the prices they could add some decoration.
I would still recommend trying Kenbey. The service was excellent and overall pretty good!“

“We had a very nice dinner here. It was highly recommended by a friend. It is a cute little place that fills up quickly. We ended up sitting outside with some heaters, which was quite nice. We tried the Brussel sprout appetizer, and it was excellent. We ordered the Asian roll, the lobster tempura roll as well as the soft shell crab roll. All were very good. The negima, which is chicken on a stick, was very tasty. We finished with mochi, which was perfect.“
