“A little hole in wall place near Kailui Beach Park serving decent take out food for the beach. The chicken katsu, spicy fried chicken and loco moco were pretty good. The beef curry was average and we would not order again. They offer a mini size for a lot of their menu items which we found perfect for eating at the beach.“
“Private parking - easy access to the restaurant Lots of offerings which makes it hard to choose! After reading the yelp reviews I choose this L & L Any portion was very generous - the katsu was hot & crispy just the way I like it - good rice - Mac salad had no flavor - better mayo and a bit of salt & pepper would have pushed the Mac salad to a more acceptable level - katsu sauce a bit thin and lack flavor Over all a ok meal - it will fill you“
“This is the BEST spot on the windward side of Oahu for hearty BBQ and smoked meats and meals.I have the pulled pork plate every time I get take out from here & the staff is so sweet, helpful and friendly every visit. And the variety of BBQ sauces is like no other. Delicious!Go here and try Whiskey Smoke 808“
“My husband and I have eaten at l&l three times during our two week stay in Hawaii (twice in Maui and once here). At this location we ordered mochiko chicken lunch plate. It was so good and the chicken was super crispy. I got a side of their katsu sauce to pour on top and it made it perfect! The portions are huge and it's a super solid lunch plate option! Definitely recommend!“
“very yummy sandwich!! we got the old school. the bread was light and the meat inside was delicious. workers are sweet and bring the food straight to you, even though you order at a counter. only downside is that the lemonade is EXTREMELY sour. it tasted like there was no sugar added, but besides that a great experience! inside is clean and there's a bathroom around the back that's also clean.“
“Guava Smoked has such an interesting story behind it. The owners would hike around on the island and harvest the invasive strawberry guava wood that's on the island and use it to smoke their meats. The result is flavorful, sweet smelling meat and it is seasoned to perfection. We ordered the kalbi, spicy pork, and butterfish collar as well as a side of pipikaula (family recipe). All of them were lip smacking good and has a nice chew. I would recommend the spicy pork and butterfish collar for everyone to try.We ordered the plate and was able to swap out the rice for homemade kimchee, salad and a mac salad.Smoked meats all the way!Parking: Parking is a recessed lot from the street, it's around in the back“
“Everything we ordered was extremely tasty. Extremely flavorful and huge portions. Could be a little greasy for some people. We ordered both burgers, both were tasty but our favorite was the sunrise burger. Fried rice with sunny side up and pork belly bao were both extremely tasty too.“
“Favorite Bahn Mi on the island, think I’ve ordered all 5 different sandwiches. BBQ is my personal favorite but you can’t go wrong. Fresh, delicious ingredients, its hard to find something so quality. Call ahead if you’re in a hurry, they can get busy.“
“Got two mixed plates so got to try the smoked meat, smoked chicken, hamburger steak, and chili. All the smoked items were definitely the highlight. I didn't care much for the chili and the hamburger steak. The chilis flavors were not the best and I definitely prefer brown gravy for my hamburger steak. I'd come back again but will definitely just get more smoked items - if it's in the name of the restaurant, stick to those items.“
“This place is amazing! We came here on a date night then brought the kids with us 2 days later. Everything we ordered came out promptly and tasted great. Highlights for me were the oysters, eggplant, and pork belly with enoki. We will for sure be back!“
“The girl behind the counter was awesome. Hawaiian kindness you always hear about in full swing. I got some pork tacos and a burrito and they were fantastic. She offered some hot habinero sauce when I said I like hot food. It was not that hot but great flavor. Plus this location you can grab leonards for desert.“
“The wife and I wanted to come here cause we don't have a good skewer place like this from Las Vegas where we from. Went in on a no reservation and there was a 1 hour wait (no problem) and I didn't know what to expect! We got seated in an hour and we picked different meats we liked and asked the server his favorites were so we got lamb, pork jowl, beef, beef tendon, hanging cucumber pork belly appetizer and omg it did not disappoint. The echigo beer was super delicious and was super light and crisp. There was a shaker of a seasoning that you can dip your meat in and it turned the experience up a notch in flavor town. I thoroughly enjoyed every part meat that was cooked and the lamb really shined in this meal. I don't usually like lamb because of gameyness (however you spell it) but this was not the case for these skewers of lamb! it was super delicious! The hanging cucumber was super good and you can put that sauce on a shoe and eat it.. so bomb! The waiter checked on us all the time and made sure we were taken care of and made it an enjoyable experience for our first time here. I would definitely come back again and try the other meats.. good vibes!“
“Awesome experience! A hidden gem! Must go again and enjoy!Very friendly service, food was amazing, price was decent, lots of varieties on the menu that I wish I had more room for..Family owned business..They don't have chicken, tho they have wagu steak!Their recommendation was for the marinated kalbi and they were right! The kalbi needs to be fully cooked so that you can really appreciate the marinated flavor!“
“Excellent food and service!! I went there with my two boys march 5th at night. They were so helpful and amazing. Our server (wish I remembered his name) helped us cook our meat since we were a bit confused and kept checking on us the whole time. The food was seriously delicious. Ive been to Korea and I can say this was just as good as kbbq there. I had kimchi stew and it was soooo good! I also loved that it didnt have shrimp paste since I have allergies. They accommodated my son who is gluten free only also. This place is such a gem. It was our last night in Honolulu and Im soo glad our uber driver recommended it. A bit pricey but all kbbq places are. The atmosphere is also nice and I like that everyone has their own booths with separations. The area is close to a main mall and felt like a safe area.“
“Prices are very decent here for quality of food you're getting! Fried oysters were delicious. All the beef we ordered was very well marbled and melt in your mouth. We ordered the garlic fried rice near the end of our meal and I'm so glad that I did. Super garlicky, make sure you order it when you come here! Will return for sure next time I'm back in Hawaii!Owners were super friendly as well!“
“Food is amazing and the servers were very attentive. We did the premium package and it was all worth it. The kids really enjoyed the beef tongue. The duck breast just melted in your mouth. There wasn't one item that we didn't savor. The matcha ice cream is to die for.“
“Ordered the wagyu beef set, chicken, and salad. The draft beer is super dry and the food is delicious. I wouldn't say it was like the old Yakiniku Hiroshi, but it was good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's just a little hard to find the place.“
“For some reason since the pandemic the price of Pho has skyrocketed. I mean everything has gone up in price, but pho seems to have gone up more than any other food. Pre pandemic, it was about $11. Now, if you're lucky its $16. My usual Pho place, Pho Tri on Kalakaua and Beretania had a special on Saturdays. Buy one bowl at about $11, get the second one for 50% off. Two people could dine for $20. After discontinuing this offer, they raised the price up to $16 meaning the cost had gone from $17 to $32. I stopped going there and stopped eating Pho as a result. For $16 you can still get a fresh caught fish plate at Nico's which to me represents much better value.Anyway I still get the urge to eat Pho and this place was convenient with excellent reviews. We got one Rare Steak and Meatball Pho ($17) and one Seafood Pho ($17.50).I would say everything was average. My dining partner said the broth was too oily. It didn't bother me too much. Size was average, amount of protein was average, amount of garnishments was average, taste was average. Everything is what you'd expect.Service was good. Water was refilled, and whom I presume were the owners were friendly. I think the price is a little high, but its a small restaurant and they need to make a living. I would go back if I wanted Pho and didn't want to drive. Some places in Chinatown, the taste and portion size is a little bit better and the prices are a couple bucks less.“
“I’m from Austin, Texas and this is the best brisket I’ve had outside of Texas. Highly recommend the moist (point) brisket. Pulled pork was so juicy. The sausage was great too. The service was excellent super friendly staff.Parking: Parking meters all along the street.“
“For this week only 1+1 has Jai on the menu for the new year. It comes with 2 scoops of rice and is piping hot. Soo ono and healthy. It's a sweeter teriyaki-like version and I'm glad I tried it. For a healthy and prosperous new year better get here soon.“
“Stopped in to watch March Madness and cheer for Duke. Visiting from NC. Ordered off the happy hour menu. The crispy rice and spicy was super fantastic. Also, really enjoyed the beer menu. Ryan, was super helpful. Will absolutely come here again when we visit Hawaii. I highly highly highly recommend this place.“
“My love of Hawaiian food and BBQ runs long and deep but I have never been to Hawaii until now. On the bus to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, my husband saw the “Hawaiian BBQ” sign for this inconspicuous diner on the corner, so that meant we just had to try it on the way back.Best. Decision. Ever. The entry door is on the parking lot side, and there’s about 3 four person tables inside. It’s the old school Asian restaurant feel you don’t find anymore - faded pictures of the menu options on the wall, older chairs and tables, and one person at the counter with another in the kitchen. There is a vast menu but we decided on two ‘minis’ - bbq ribs and mochiko chicken - they were anything but mini. My goodness the portions were huge, we were only able to finish one container. The mochiko chicken was sooooo crispy and moist and addictive, unlike any mochiko chicken I’ve had outside of Hawaii. The bbq ribs were meaty, and soft, and the char was beautiful. I want to try more of the menu.100000% will be revisiting before heading back home. Killer food at this hole in the wall. Highly recommend!“
“We came here while on a food tour of the area and the manapua were so good! We had 2 different ones. Definitely would recommend for a quick meal or snack! Will go back the next time we are in Oahu! Also love that this place has been around for so long!“
“Bobs. The smell of Bob's bbq smoke wafts in the Kalihi air and draws customers in. Phone order is the pro tip when ordering for dinner time. Cannot go wrong with the hibachi chicken plate and if you want a good deal the super combo is the way to go. Bobs always makes the day better.“
“I felt compelled to write a review because of how absolutely delicious the combination duck & roast pork were. I have eaten a lot of roast duck and roast pork in my life (SF, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, BC, London, Beijing, and Mei Mei is among the best.I ordered the combination roast duck and roast pork which comes with rice and vegetable. The duck skin was thin and crispy. The duck meat was tender and flavorful and not too bony. The roast pork was exceptionally flavorful and tender as well. The skin had a good crunch.I am looking forward to my next meal here.“
“Loved this place! The tofu bahn mi was super flavorful and the bread was soft. I hate when the bread is way too hard so I was very happy about this. The service was also great, and very informative about the different items on the menu. I was surprised to see they have hojicha milk tea, since I have never seen it before. It was very good and I would recommend that as well.“
“Wow!✨✨!! Highly recommend! Delicious food & outstanding customer service. ? ? ?Open late, perfect location & comfy tables & chairs on Royal Hawaiian Ave. I’ve lived here 3 years & had never tried it before, now I’m gonna eat here every day?I am a very happy customer!! Everything about this place is amazing I had the Kalbi Steak & Egg & it was the BOMB!!????. Give love & support to local businesses. Love & Light, Mahalo??“
“I used to frequent this restaurant 7-8 years ago when I worked nearby, but after changing jobs, I wasn't able to visit as often, though I sometimes missed it. Recently, I heard that it had a new owner, but the former cooking chef is same, so I decided to visit again. It was just like before - the same great taste and clean atmosphere! The new owner was also very kind. The chicken wings sauce was spicy but not greasy, like it was grilled over a fire, and delicious, so the whole family enjoyed it. The pork bulgogi and generous side dishes were also great. I'll definitely be stopping by more often! Highly recommended.“
“When this morning while having tires put on by Lex. Thank you very much. Haven't been here for almost 20 years after grabbing bfast almost weekly for my office gang for years. And you know what? I know the cooks and owners changed, but everything about my loco moco was exactly the same! Except the price of course...“
“Lamb skewer shop. A restaurant that serves grilled food. It's delicious ~ I like that it's close to Walmart. Good for a quick drink. Revisit 2023.Absolutely delicious ?Cheap and delicious. The alcohol is cheap and good! 2024 3/31 Happy Easter. It's good to have a break.“
“Such a fun dinner experience!! Justin was our server and he was amazing! We went with the all you can eat option and as always, it didn't disappoint. Dishes came out consistently and everything was fresh and yummy. Always a treat for us outer island peeps!“
“This place gets crowded for a reason. Great place to go with a group of friends on weekdays since youll probably wait a while if its on the weekends. Authentic Korean Yakiniku restaurant, the ambiance has it all. Quality of meats is better than the AYCE places, with the sides and portions personally id rather come here. Great food, service is hit or miss when busy but last visit it was excellent. Ordered the set for 2 along with a side order pork belly and intestines, comes with refillable banchan sides and either kimchee or miso soups. Gotta have the plastic bottle Hite beer and soju too??Waitress was attentive and changed our grill several times. 5 stars??Parking: Free parking next to the restaurant“
“I’ve had L&L and many other variations, but this is the best Hawaiian BBQ I’ve tasted, full stop.Ordered the BBQ mix plate and chicken katsu, and every component - from the rice and macaroni salad to the meat - was perfect.Don’t hesitate, just go here.“
“The food is pretty good, but the service is lacking. Not much was explained, even though I said it was my first time at their restaurant and their menu isn’t well explained on its own.Basically they serve all you can eat hotpot OR a bibimbap dish OR some items a la carte (which only include the item. The cost is high for what you get, though now that I know how and what to order here, it wouldn’t be as expensive next time we visit (if).Side note: we didn’t even get a water refill from our waitress… so don’t expect much in the way of service here, sadly.Parking: Only a handful of parking spots in their lot. You’re better off parking on the busy street.“
“It might seem a bit odd to eat this in Waikiki, but there's a Texas barbecue place that's surprisingly delicious. It's located right across from the immensely popular Marugame and doesn't usually have a line. They mix and match various items, but the brisket is the tastiest. If you're in Waikiki and suddenly get a craving for Texas barbecue after eating poke and udon, I recommend this place.“
“My friends and I decided to swing by for dinner. When we showed up they warned us that since we were a bigger group (5) it would be a little bit and asked if we were okay leaving a number. They asked us if we had any food allergies, which I was shocked by, and were extremely kind. As we ordered they engaged us in conversation and over all were just so kind and attentive to our orders. We walked around for 10 minutes before they called and very excitedly told us out food was ready! When we finally chowed down the food was great! Great quality for the relatively low price ($14 for a whole meal that left me with leftovers). 10/10 absolutely would recommend.“
“One thing about this place is that their portions are pretty big. Their mini portions are huge too! LOCATION: This review is for their location in the Makiki Shopping Village. Right off of Wilder Avenue. PARKING: The shopping village has a small parking lot that's shared with other small businesses in the area. Depending on the time of day, it gets pretty busy. They have a few metered spots out front and street parking. Just be mindful of the tow zone times in the area. If you make a phone order, some park right in front of their store. However, don't park there too long.... The spot in front of their store is a no parking zone. SERVICE: They are always so nice and prompt whenever I visit here. I've always received friendly service here. ATMOSPHERE: Their store is always clean. I always see them cleaning and wiping tables. There's a few tables to eat at inside and it feels very cozy. I believe this is a small family business?? Not too sure, but it feels like it. FOOD: Their portions are pretty big. Their plates come with banchan and they are very generous with the portions. I hope you come in with an appetite! My favorite dish to get here is their mean jun... or bbq chicken.. or seaweed soup. Although their menu is limited, they serve the typical takeout Korean dishes. This place is simple, convenient and always delicious!“
“Mr. Jones is a barbecue Savant, nice clean smoke with clean bbq favor, the wood essence really soaks into the meat. Overall great pit master with amazing customer-service. The rib tips make your eyes roll back to with the tenderness in the flavor always ask for extra sauce. That joint is liquid crack! Definitely going back as soon as possible. FYI... the location is at Pearl Ridge Sears, where all the food trucks are located on the downtown side.“
“We are so lucky to have an authentic Chinatown here in Honolulu with little shops such as this who are doing it right! Succulent moist meats served on rice with a side of bok choy. You can also buy the meats by the pound to take home. I love this place. Super authentic and delicious. Very reasonably priced too. My photo shows a charsiu mini plate?“
“service is sometimes kind of slow but it's still L&L quality food, so you can't go wrong. I really appreciate though how clean this L&L is, it's probably the cleanest one ive ever been in (and best looking walls because it's still pristine white).“
“Excellent experiences at BBQ town. They star of the show for us were the Teri beef burgers. Such an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Also pictured on another occasion was the short rib mini plate which as you can see is enough for at least one meal if not two. I called ahead for both our orders and picked up. The staff is super friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely recommend visiting!“
“Great spot for Korean food. Love the food, atmosphere and service. The food tastes great and they give you a lot. I ordered Gina's special and man I love my plate and it was so worth The price. I felt like it was a 5 lb plate. Kalbi ribs so good!!! Side dishes were great too... seaweed, bean sprouts, choi sum, and taegu!! Yummy. Definitely check these guys out for great Korean food!! Support them you guys ...great food!!Parking: Plenty of parking...easy to find. Come check it out.“
“Not sure why this joint isn't on Yelp, but happy I get to introduce it. It's a speakeasy above the kaka'ako Aloha Beer that's open only Fridays and Saturdays. They serve a selection of the popular beers from downstairs as well as craft cocktails. The cocktails are mostly classics such as painkiller, old fashioned, paper plane, with some of their own like the aloha. What sets this place apart is how well each drink is made. It's order at the bar and find your own seating type of place so don't be shy and make friends in the lounge seating enclaves. Be friendly with an aloha spirit like the bar staff so no worries sista/brah.Love the dark and gothic ambiance, but not sure what to think of the fairy tail looking reindeer over the stage/fire except that I found it funny once told it wasn't real. There's valet or self parking next to the place and the fee is reduced with validation. If you're really overzealous you can visit Aloha Beer until 11 pm and come up here til midnight.Only recommendation I’d have is to improve the ice. They use regular ice versus large cubes or balls. Regular ice melts too fast, especially on the island.“
“We got here about an hour before closing. All the chairs were already up. I'm not sure if they're still not doing dine in or they were just getting ready to close. We looked at the menu and decided to get a Jumbo Plate ($21.99) which was a whole chicken with three sides. We got white rice, corn and mac salad for our sides. The cashier asked us if we wanted the chicken cut into pieces and that it would be $1 more. Since we were sharing the plate we figured that would be easier, so we forked over the dollar. The food was decent. It wasn't the best huli huli chicken that I've had, but it was moist and tender. I like my chicken drenched in huli sauce. If you look at my pics, no sauce.“
“This place you guys gotta check out!! This place has good food!! Kalbi, bbq chicken, jap chae, fried mandoo...and so much more. The mini is enough for one person but the regular can feed two people if your hungry enough. They also have great ban chan ( side dishes) like choi sum and shoyu potato and bean sprout. And even...they have bubble tea inside too... honeydew, watermelon, strawberry and more. Come check these guys out!! It's a little on the pricier side but you get what you pay for...it's a lot of food. Highly recommend these guys!!“
“Love getting the lechon or char siu here. Very delicious and juicy meats - not dry at all! It's a pretty popular local place, so there's usually a line on the weekends, but it's definitely worth the wait! The price is affordable and reasonable for the quality of the meat. Super Ono and fresh - always!“
“I went there with no expectations, so I was very satisfied with the service and the quality of the service.Everything is delicious. I can't say which one, but I wanted to eat steak, so I came here, but if you're going to a famous restaurant that's expensive, I highly recommend this. We also have a Japanese manager, so I think he can help you in Japanese as well.I also received full marks for the attentiveness of the female clerk who quickly responded to irregular order errors. I will definitely stop by again when I come to Hawaii.“
“Dim Sum is excellent and large with a lot of veggies and shrimp! From steamed bao to baked and all the half moon/siu mai in between. Cha Siu and roast duck hang in the window for purchase. If you go after 10:45 am, it's not as crowded. Family is from Jung San. Aside from the fact that the dim sum is worth it, I have to patronize a small business that is humble and yet underrated. Go now!!“
“I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TRY THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVEN'T YET. I tried the Yooncy Special and the meat jun. Kalbi, bbq chicken, bbq meat and meat jun were all good. Usually I don't care for some other places bbq meat (bulgogi) but theirs is excellent. Nice and tender ... well-seasoned and no gamey taste. Meat jun was also tender and had just the right amount of egg coating. Vegetables were good as well as the Mac salad. Parking can get a bit busy so what I do is I park on the second level at the far end of the parking lot which is at the ocean or Waikiki side. Take the elevator down to the ground level and YoonCY is just to the right.“
“Just like their breakfast place (Over Easy) a block away in Kailua, the food is so tasty. The husband and wife team (owners) are formally trained chefs. They do a remarkable job on creating specialty dishes, as well as making basic menu items a cut above the norm. Hubby loves their Portuguese sausage and brisket dinner and I love their pulled pork.“
