When I bit into it I got nervous and asked my girlfriend to confirm if she ordered the vegan. After looking at photos of both, we confirmed it was actually the vegan version. One of the best and most convincing vegan “chicken” dishes I’ve ever had. That was great, we will be back.“

Clearly a lot of love goes into the decor, and I’m not tucking anyone else’s yum- hence the five stars. But I did worry that the mannequins and paintings might give a young kid some nightmares. Fortunately he mostly looked at the ceiling, which is a super cool cloudscape. So, yeah. Amazing service, ice cream, and super friendly… just feels at odds with the decor.“

The recipes are unique to this restaurant. We have eaten at other Ethiopian restaurants. They do not even register next to this one. The Proprietor is SOOOOO nice. And, ask him what brought him to the United States. It's an emotionally moving story. If you haven't had Ethiopian cuisine before, it is NOT scary. There are hardy vegetarian and meatatarian dishes. So, there's something for everyone. And, the dishes that are spicy are mild. So, don't worry about your sensitive belly. The meal is a SHARED experience. So, make sure you bring friends. “I was in the area for a show at the Vic Theater and saw this place was close by. I'm glad I decided to stop in because this place was amazing. I ordered the country fried steak, and they had it ready within 10 minutes. The meal was delicious. The seitan steak tasted almost exactly how I remember real country fried steaks to taste. The gravy was savory, and the potatoes were super creamy. If I'm ever in the neighborhood again, I'll definitely be coming back. While everything on the menu is vegan, vegetarians can get real cheese and eggs if they ask. Since the restaurant is located in the Northhalsted neighborhood, it's also a safe space for LGBT folks. I love that when I go there they have everything fresh and everything is in stock and if there’s a waiting time, it’s not more than 10 minutes and the cookies are amazing for dessert. I love that the food is gluten-free even the cookie!

This Christmas, I decided to try their take-n-bake kouign-amann; and OMG my family and I were IN LOVE with the Ham & Gruyere kouign-amann!
