“Ate there for the first time tonight. I am vegan and my husband is an Omni. Chef Bill came out and waited on us personally, and gave us menu recommendations, all of which were delicious! The ambiance was so relaxing and peaceful; it was a nice respite from a busy day and I didn’t want to leave. Reasonably priced as well: shared appetizer, two teas, two entrees, and two desserts was $60. Will definitely be back for many more dinners!“

Kids meals are free with adult purchase & the portions of my son’s teddy bear pancakes were huge! Actually portions of everything is huge. This is the best bakery and cafe in the area, with a delightful and inventive menu (try the rad hash), caring vibe, and an extraordinary amount of care put into every aspect of the experience. Items that are a weak afterthought at other cafes, like a side salad, are consistently fresh and delicious here. I have eaten at many of the best known and instagrammed restaurants in Chicago and I would rather eat at SBK than anywhere else.“

“I've dined here multiple times within the past two years and not only is the food extremely delicious but the staff here is upbeat, friendly and always delivers a five star attentive service to whomever dines in here.

You simply walk up to a computer screen where you can choose from a list of soup, appetizers, main courses like bimbap, bulgogi beef, scallion pancakes and other traditional Korean dishes.

I usually order a simple soup that's extra spicy with assorted vegetables, rice cakes and an egg. You can add extra vegetables, cheese or an extra egg to your order too.

The chefs were quite busy this evening with tons of pick up take out orders but I personally prefer dining in here and you also get an opportunity to watch the chefs cooking in the kitchen.

This evening one of the chefs pointed out assorted delicious sides at the counter that I had never noticed before. Basically you can help yourself to as many sides as you'd like before your meal arrives and they were extremely tasty.

The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. “We had a wonderful dinner at Prairie Grass Cafe. The spring rolls were loaded with delicious perfectly cooked shrimp and the accompanying sauce (sweet chili with garlic and cilantro) plays nicely with them. The flounder with roasted carrots and parsnip-potato purée was as delicious as it looks. It was generously portioned and beautifully plated. We also enjoyed the mussels with parsley, shallots, and breadcrumbs pasta. My husband is Sicilian and it reminded us of the pasta con le sarde that we love to have in Sicily. The mussels were plump and delicious. The wine list is very nice. We found wines we really enjoyed and they were reasonably priced. We enjoyed the Attems, Pinot Grigio, Friuli, Italy ‘22 with our mussels and flounder, and the Fritz Haag, Riesling, Germany ‘21 with our pumpkin pie for dessert. Service was perfect.“

“Had lunch there today and I have to say this is the first time I was disappointed with the service. The food was excellent but that's it. Asked for 2nd drink and never got it. Water was never refilled until we were through eating. When first ordering our wine we had problems. I will continue to eat here and hopefully this is a one time occurrence.“
