“Passing through KC on a multi-state road trip, looked up best BBQ spots and Q39 was on multiple lists. Lunch did not disappoint. Wife and I had the Judges platers. Chicken, pork, and sausage for her. Brisket, ribs, and sausage for me. All of the meats were amazing.Our server, Maddie M., was very friendly and helpful in choosing options. Normally we enjoy having a slower paced meal but since we're traveling it was nice that we were in and out in under an hour. Highly recommend!“
“At a gas station and has a long wait. Order at counter, get food and sit down. Prices are pretty fair. We both got a sandwich only with no sides. I got the jumbo Z-Man which was brisket, provolone and onion rings. It was very tasty. Brisket was super thin sliced. Great taste but not very smoky. Sammie got the Rocket Pig which was pulled pork and fried jalapenos. Both sandwiches were very good. I could have eaten more. I would say that smokiness wasn't very strong but I'd go back.“
“We went here expecting great BBQ and they delivered. We went here two times during our 3 day stay in KC. The first time we went we got the burnt ends with brisket, smoked chicken and ribs with mac and cheese and veggies for sides. Carrot cake for dessert. The carrot cake was not on the same level as the BBQ, but was still good.Different parts of out food unfortunately came out cold three and they fixed it right away and the manager came over to let us know how they would fix it on our bill. The service was top notch and above what I was anticipating.The second time we went for lunch time. The server was great again. The food was delicious! Highly recommend the brisket and burnt ends and the ribs! The veggies were phenomenal as well! No issues with food temp this time.Overall, I cannot wait to get BBQ there again. It was the best we have had in the city! Flavorful, moist, juicy, while not leaving a greasy feeling in your stomach. “OMG fantastic BBQ! Some of the best, most tender burnt ends I've had in KC! Definitely will be returning for brunch! We also enjoyed an appetizer w/$8 off for their "8th Anniversary Special" - we got the BBQ wontons - definitely would recommend. But I also saw the appetizer for onion straws - it was stacked about 6 inches high with onion straws across the 12 inch appetizer plate - it was HUGE to say the least & I was sad we didn't get that too after seeing it :) Kye was great! Very quick & on top of our needs. She seemed to be one of the few waiters/waitresses working & she kicked major butt! Thank you!!“
“I didn’t get a great picture because the food was 1/2 gone before I got around to thinking about doing a review. Lol. It was amazing. Food was fresh and homemade!! The falafel was the best I’ve ever had. Hands down. Lentil soup was amazing. Hummus and Baba were great. The service was excellent. They also offer a selection of fresh squeezed juices, and freshly made juice drinks. I had the mint lemonade - it was obvious that she squeezed the lemons and blended it with fresh mint, water, ice and sugar. Delicious. One of those meals where you walk away feeling full, satisfied but GOOD. Even the pita - was served hot - fresh grilled, with a seasoning on top. Yum!!“
“We're from out of town, and needed to get some BBQ while in the KC area, we were not disappointed. I learned so much about this place in the few minutes we were there placing our carry-out order. First, this place cares for its employees, I know because Issac shared that he has worked there since he was 16, and that seemed like several years ago (you still look young Issac). He also said he's had a z-man every day, and still loves them, and I concur, that was a beast of a sandwich, possibly the best sandwich of any kind I have ever consumed. I learned that the food was incredible because there was a fast moving line that was out of the building, which compelled us to order take out, but I would wait next time, knowing how awesome the food is now.I make some BBQ at home, and it takes a ton of work to make it that good, and to make as much as Joe's does takes incredible preparation and knowledge, it is just simply great BBQ. “My wife and I was heading to a different BBQ place when we stumbled upon this place. First off, the staff is amazing and friendly. We decided to start off with the Pulled pork egg rolls, let me tell you, these were amazing and the best egg rolls I've had. The smoke flavor from the pork really comes through and the sweet and sour sauce has a nice little kick to it. For our entrees, we both went with the 2 meat bbq meal, I had the pork belly and Thai sausage and the wife had the pull pork and brisket and we both got the Mac n cheese along with the jasmine rice it comes with. First off, you get a lot of food. The meat is spread over top the rice and it really goes well together. Our favorite was the heavenly pork, it had a nice smokey flavor with a little bit of sweetness to it. The brisket was juicy and tender and overall well smoked. My 2nd favorite was the Pork belly. Think bacon but much thicker and seemed deep fried? It was amazing but even better dip in the BBQ sauce. The sausage had nice flavors to it, one that sticks out was the lemongrass. It paired really well with the Tiger cry sauce, which is nice and spicy. Lastly, the Mac n cheese, it was delicious, the cheese sauce was creamy and smooth with a little spice. Think Velveeta and white cheddar. Overall this was a fantastic meal, one my wife was hesitant about at first but was amazed on how great the food was and we can't wait to go back and try the other items on the menu of what I would describe as Thai infused bbq. “We're forever driving past SmokeTown BBQ, commenting that we needed try to it someday. Yesterday was the day! The inside is perfect BBQ decor, wood paneling, tvs, neons, and of course a Kelce Swift cutout that looks like a cute picture opportunity. You order at the counter, and they bring it out. Everyone we encountered was so nice, and the food came out quickly. My first time order is always a brisket/beef sandwich and either onion rings or beans. Although I've heard amazing things about the mac and cheese, we didn't try it. The bun was soft and fluffy, the beef sliced thin (the way I prefer it), and the medium sandwich was the perfect size for me to demolish after skipping lunch. The onion rings were perfectly crispy, and delicious, but I can't confirm if they're made in house, for those who quest for the perfect onion ring. There were regular, sweet, and spicy sauce options, we didn't try the sweet, but liked the regular and the spicy. We'd definitely go back and try more things, especially the mac and piggy, and the smoked Gouda balls.“

It is a super casual place that just makes great food. The meal comes with fries and cole slaw. There are four different sauces on the table already. I tried all four of course. The variety is nice. The sauces are fine. The burnt ends, pork and beef, were tasty. The slaw was served cold and fresh. The slaw could have used a little more spice. The fries came unseasoned and were bland but hot and crunchy. There was no salt or pepper on the table. These items were located by the soda machine. The beans were okay. This one is a definite must try.“
