This place contributes to the waistline of the locals. Some big people are in this fly-over town. The red bbq sauce SUCKS they would hang you in Texas for serving that mess. “This was an important dinner, my son who is 26, had surgery(had his tonsils removed) a couple days ago, and The recovery is described as one of the worst, and it feels like shards of glass in your throat.he has to eat soft food and he had Choices all over the Kansas City metro area. He chose Joe’s, Joe’s mac & cheese to be exact! We live on the Missouri side (Gladstone). So I decided to stop by this evening, and not only get a quart of mac & cheese for him, I grabbed dinner for myself (z-man w/ fries, ribs w/ red beans and rice, Mac and cheese) which I was reluctant to do, due to me having to drive 35 minutes home and I was worried that it was going to be Soggy and cold, Well, much to my surprise, the food was packed perfectly, my food was still hot, and my fries were still crispy! “Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

“You can never go wrong with a meal at Jack Stack Barbecue. It is consistently delicious, coupled with wonderful service and fair pricing. Our server, Michael, provided the excellent service Jack Stack is well known for. He was attentive but not intrusive. Additionally our order was spot. Our family favorites will always include the burnt ends and the ribs. There are several sides to pick from but you can't go wrong with the beans and cold slaw. This is a restaurant you can count on for a delicious meal, easy atmosphere and excellent service!“

“Found myself in Grandview working a service call on an extremely cold Saturday morning. After I got that furnace fixed I found this awesome spot for BBQ! Highly recommend making the time to stop in, ribs were perfect tender, pulled pork was delicious and not smothered in sauce, I love the beans again flavor of the ingredients not over powered by sauce. 💯“

“Service was great. To no fault of their own, the city water line broke shutting down every restaurant. We were able to order lbs of meat to take home 👍. atmosphere was great since we were the only ones in there 👍. Food seemed to lack real smoked flavor, but still tasted good and juicy. “When we arrived and were walking in to Zarda BBQ in Lenexa this evening we ran into a gentleman in the parking lot and chatted with him for a little bit, this was our first visit to Zarda bbq, the man was Steve Zarda, owner operator if Zarda bbq!! He was a very wonderful, pleasant man to visit with!! We went in and ordered our food, it was absolutely phenomenal, the ribs were delicious, the pulled pork was fabulous, not dry at all, and the burnt beef ends were awesome!!! They have an apple bbq sauce that is an absolutely must try with your pulled pork!!! Steve Zarda, and his daughter that was working this evening also, Jennifer I believe was her name, were so welcoming and very pleasant to visit with!!! We will most definitely be back to eat again, way too many yummy items on their menu to try them all tonight!!! Thank you so much Steve and family the terrific service and delicious food, along with our pleasant conversation our evening was truly enjoyable!!!

“I had I think the most delicious chicken and pear salad I’ve ever had in my life here. There was a couple of conferences going on inside the hotel so the restaurant and bar area was crowded and there was only one staff person waiting on everyone. I don’t know what the situation was in the kitchen however, even though I had to wait for a service, I knew they were doing their best and when my salad came, it was so delicious. I also ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it was a very generous pour maybe making up for the lack of help that day. It did help me enjoy my lunch very much. I would go there just to go there even if I wasn’t attending anything at the hotel.“

“Went after a world cup game. We were so thankful they were open and serving fresh, hot food. My son devoured his smash burger saying it was awesome. The fried mushroom and zucchini app was great. “While visiting from Seattle, WA; My overall experience at Gates was fine, and I appreciated that the order taker kept the line moving. However, my experience with the young lady at the register was disappointing.
She assumed that I was trying to cut in front of two ladies who had already placed their order. In reality, I was simply standing in an empty space near the counter while waiting to pay. She said, “Those other ladies were here before you!” while rolling her eyes, which came across as rude and unnecessary.
I explained to her that I knew the ladies were ahead of me. In fact, they told me I could go ahead of them because they were also waiting to pay, but I politely told them it was okay and waited my turn.
I have no issue with being corrected if there is a misunderstanding, but the way I was spoken to and treated was very off-putting. Unfortunately, that interaction overshadowed what otherwise would have been a perfectly fine experience at Gates. I hope management will remind staff that kindness and professionalism go a long way when interacting with customers.“
