“Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

“Grew up in K C K. Old go to was Plesas bbq on Leavenworth rd. Went to slapps for the first time 6/27/22. Now my go to place used to be Jack Stack but they have slipped. Slapps my new bbq happy place!!“

“JackStack is and has always been my family's favorite barbecue restaurant. They consistently nail every aspect of what makes a dining experience worth the cost. The high quality of ingredients is readily apparent in every menu item, and yes, I've tried them all over the past 30 years. I have some favorites, of course. The mushroom and onion ring appetizers are the best in town, as are the beans. Also, I'd take the Crown Prime beef ribs over a steak any day. The service is consistently great, and I like how everyone helps each other out. The managers must really push the full hands into and full hands out of the kitchen because empty dishes and glasses don't stay on the table for long, and food is always hot when it hits the table. Ask someone from KC what their favorite bbq is and you'll hear Gates, Arthur Bryants, Q39, and Joe's among others, but it's often based on one favorite menu item, or their favorite sauce. But none of those restaurants has a menu as expansive as JackStack's, which even includes hickory grilled seafood. You really can't go wrong, no matter what you choose. There is something for everyone. If you want to treat yourself, your family from out of town, or some important clients, take them to JackStack.“

“We were here for a Saturday Brunch meeting. It was a good choice because it was not noisy and we could all hear. It was also a good choice because the service and food were both very good. This is a barbeque place but they had a large brunch menu with all the traditional and several unique items. They went above and beyond as well, handling special requests and our server was happy to check with the kitchen for specific items, such as allergens. I am looking forward to going back at lunch or dinner to try the barbeque. It looks really good.

Dietary restrictions: They have a separate gluten free menu and they are happy to handle special requests. They also have true gluten free beer!“

“Let me start with the restaurant was crazy busy because there was an Art Festival on the same street & it was soooo hot that day. Many people were trying to get indoors to some AC. The food was typical BBQ, very good but nothing exceptional. The service was wonderful. We sat at the bar for 1 drink before dinner, the bartender was friendly & eager to make us happy. We were a few minutes early for our reservation & the hostess made us feel like we were exactly on time. Our waiter was also friendly, informative about the menu & quite efficient. We shared the pork center cut ribs which were very tender without falling off the bone which would have been overcooked. Extra BBQ sauce came on the side which added just enough extra flavor. We also had the baked beans & coleslaw, both were good.“

“Not your typical KC bbq. Chef J's brings a little variety to the KC scene and offers some outstanding, unique flavors you just can't miss. The sauces are on the thinner side than what you might be used to around here, but they add crazy dimension to the bbq. If you can get the burnt ends, I highly recommend them.“

Lindsay Shannon was the best!!New ownership and patio renovations wanted to go back to check it out. 3 headed out for lunch on a Thursday. WOW. 2 of us had The Daily Special Texas Sweet (Pulled Pork, Scimecas Italian Sausage, Onion Straws piked high on huge bun. 1 SIDE. I had some green beans son had some of the huge famous beer battered potato wedges. Hot, fresh, tasty for $11.99. Both of us took decent amount home as well. “Great food on this visit. Everything was flavorful waiter was attentive. While my 2 visits to burnt ends were good had a freind who was with me on my visit go back and had diffrent experience food not as good and staff not as helpful in fact they were antagonistic. My point for bringing this up is that experience can be inconsistent here so my positive experience might not reflect yours but I would recommend giving them the benefit of the doubt because when they hit they hit they hit it out of the park.“

“Best of the best! Smoked turkey is in point and if you like pastrami you HAVE to get thier smoked pastrami on seeded rye w saurkraut and mustard.....omg! It's the bbq version of a rueban sandwich and let me tell ya...it's a game changer! 1 sandwich is Enough for 2 people...or 2 meals if you don't want to share :) The manager was so kind, he brought our service dog a bowl of water while we ate. The server and bartender were amazing...

The young lady that took my order over the phone was very friendly and professional she asked our name and what time would we be there for our order. “I cannot always eat the meats most of my family does due to dietary restrictions, but I will tell you. This was the HANDS DOWN most tender, melt in my mouth beef brisket that I have had in years. Even the chicken was moist! The server we had was personable and handled the whole knack half the restaurant well even when it got slammed. We were in to visit our son from Rochester NY, and I can honestly say that nothing we have had there since moving there in 2017, is even comparable.“

“Was in town visiting and I heard good things about Gates back in Chicago, so I had to try them out. Stoped in before heading to the Saints vs Chiefs game. Ordered the turkey on a bun w/fries and lemonade. The turkey was good, the fries were fresh out the grease, but they don’t season the fries, you have to salt them yourself. The total was like $20 so a bit pricey. The sauce has a sweet but spicy taste to it.“

Every single piece of meat in the box was immaculately seasoned, the pickled onions and pickles were DELICIOUS, abd the bread at the bottom sealed the deal for me. Since it was my first time, the staff helped me tremendously while ordering, and gave us extra sauce for the food. EVERY time I'm in KC, I will be eating here. “Small, family business type vibe which I always love at a restaurant. By far the best burnt ends I've had in Kansas City - better than Slaps and Joe's. The ribs were a little dry, but the beans, Mac and cheese, and brisket were great. Wish there was more of a sauce selection. Big fan. You can't say you're from KCMO until you've tried this staple.

“One of the best BBQ joints in the city (in my personal top 2). Old-school spot with the huge smoker front-and-center behind the small order counter. Beef Burnt Ends and Ribs are FIRE (and the cuts KC is known for). Sausage was way too salty for me and not stand-out as far as flavor. Chicken wings were okay, not stand-out though. Baked Beans have chunks of brisket. Also pretty runny, but the gravy is delicious . Spicy Green Beens are breaded and deep fried, absolute must-try. Kind of dingy facility, That's part of the old-school charm. but not suitable for a romantic dinner. Gets very busy during lunchtime.

Vegetarian options: Sides-only. No vegetarian entrees.

Parking: About 4 spots in their parking lot, but enough street parking on the North side road.“
