“Met a friend who happened to be passing through town. What better place to meet for conversation and a fantastic breakfast. Quiet, relaxing atmosphere, plenty of good coffee, and if you can’t find a breakfast you like, you’re way too picky or have very poor taste. Breakfast options are massive. Plenty of menu items to eat healthy. A wide variety of side options; my favorite are the buttered grits…..just like my grandma used to make. And did I mention the coffee is bottomless and good?“

“I want to share my family's experience at Big Biscuit Olathe on Tuesday, 3/19/24.My dad has Alzheimer's, and we recently moved him into full time care in Olathe. It's been an adjustment.My sister was in town from Colorado, and we decided to check Dad out for a few hours for brunch. We never know how public experiences will go. Sometimes Dad responds well. Others he gets agitated or overwhelmed. Sometimes servers and other patrons don't know quite how to respond to him. We all just kind of wanted, for an hour or so, to pretend that everything was normal, that we were just another family going out for a meal.This is where Matt comes in. Matt was our server, and he literally made our entire day. I may just be getting old, but Matt looked about 17. He was thin as a rail. He had glasses and a mullet. I won't lie, when he first walked up, I kinda steeled myself. Sometimes younger folk don't have the life experience to deal with older folk. Particularly when the older folk tell you the same joke over and over again or get confused by your questions. But I needn't have worried.Matt started out by introducing himself and making friendly banter. He quickly picked up on the fact that we aren't the type of family to stand too firmly on strict propriety, and seemed to let his hair down a little bit more.Now, my mom typically orders for my dad, as he can get overwhelmed by the options. So, most servers just sort of ignore Dad and talk directly to Mom. Not Matt. He started jokingly asking my dad directly what he wanted, if he was okay, and to "blink twice" if he needed to be rescued. Dad's sense of humor is very intact and laughter has always been a coping mechanism for us. It worked beautifully.Throughout the meal, Matt was delightfully and teasingly irreverent, but never inappropriately so. It's three days later, and I'm still grinning at the memory.Thank you so much, Matt! You made that outing something we'll talk about for a long time. We needed that badly.“

“My favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in Olathe. I have had an assortment of dishes here, and they were all delicious. Fajitas, Kansas Burrito, Carne Asada plate. The Chips and Dip is good, you can sometimes find a coupon for a free Queso Dip in one of the Valpak or other local flyers. There are only 2 draw backs when coming here. 1st, they are always very busy. Im not a big fan of crowds or being seated back to back against the next table and they try to pack those tables in there like sardines to service the most customers they can. 2nd is that the staff is not always friendly or even helpful when you have questions about a dish. But the food has always been excellent. Even on to go orders.“

“Our visit here was absolutely wonderful. The food took a little while to come out, but it was absolutely amazing. They were also understaffed, but our server Pati was very nice and worked very hard to accommodate for the many people in the restaurant. “We attended a private event for approximately 50 guests at Austin's on Lone Elm this weekend. The taco bar was quite tasty, and stocked repeatedly for our group as needed. While the party was fun, it was ever more memorable due to our two servers, Mikaela and Jeremy. These two were so fun, exuberant and hard working professionals. Their constant smiles while keeping up with the drink orders with precision was fantastic! They were go getters from the start and made an already fun day even better. “I stopped in for the first time on November 22, 2020, and I’m asking WHY didn’t I ever stop here before!? The food was great, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top notch! I opted for the duck with mixed vegetables, and not only was the duck cooked to perfection, the vegetables were expertly prepared. The mushrooms, in particular, were outstanding, as though they were treated like their own food group! I’m definitely returning, and if you haven’t stopped in for some of the best Chinese food, I strongly recommend you do so!“

“DATE NIGHT!First time ever trying this place.The food was amazing. Perfect amount of batter on fried mushrooms. Complimentary beans, cole slaw, and hushpuppies. All of which had great flavor, and was made fresh, not from frozen pre-made. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Catfish tasted very clean. All you can eat crab legs did not disappoint at all! Everything actually tasted amazing, which is hard too come by nowadays.Michael was our server. There was not one time that we had too wait for anything. He seemed too know what might be needed before we even asked. He even made sure he never reached across our food when bringing refills or taking away plates! (Wish other servers would learn this etiquette.) Although he was obviously busy with several large tables, he always made sure we were taken care of.Only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is due to the atmosphere. I understand the idea they are going for with the taxidermy, ect. Having experience with them, I will say they are alot of work too upkeep. Mounts definitely need a good wiping down. Dirt and cobwebs put a negative spin on the fun atmosphere trying too be achieved here. Not my place, but can you imagine how much of an upgrade it could be with just a couple small adjustments? Replace old carpet with easy too clean hard floors , lighten up all the dark dingy wood with a coat of paint, and wipe down all the mounts. This place would be even more amazing than it already is.“

“It is always busy in this Hy-Vee, but the employees are kind and helpful. The staff working behind the counters in the deli, seafood and meat departments are quick to help, answer questions and more. The lines for the registers vary and they seem to never have the bigger self checkout open, which are a favorite of many. We order online a lot because of this reason, but the shoppers really vary as well. Some text you and ask if you want substitutions while others don't contact you at all (even when you click allow substitutions) and you get all the way home only to realize that you are missing vital items. A trip back to the store shows that those missing items were in fact available or a close substitute is available.“

Stacked high on a bun with layers of obviously fresh and quality lettuce and tomatoes, my choice of cheese, onion and appropriate condiments (and drenched with unique house dressing), this baby was a culinary delight. The patti was was characterized by its thickness and enticing color and flavor, and it was cooked exactly to my request (medium well). Capped off with a cold draught beer, this meal left me well satisfied and content. The service I received from my waiter was really professional in every respect: attentive and helpful, but not pushy. The facility itself was massive, but well designed, clean and exude it's own relaxing ambiance. In summary, The Other Place really surprised me by offering bar food and relaxation, but with a little class and a level of overall quality I have rarely encountered in my bar experiences. To each his own, but The Other Place is absolutely a clear cut above its competition, and I highly recommend it to all.“

“My husband and I visited this Christmas pop-up bar and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I am a fan of ciders, and was very happy to find that a flight of ciders was one of the offerings. There was food available, but we did not order any. The indoor Venue where we visited was very well decorated for Christmas. There was a food truck station outside and a tasting room nearby. There were many opportunities to take photos throughout. Whoever was in charge of the decor did a fantastic job. It definitely put us in a holiday mood.“
