On a one-way road trip June 13, my son and I stopped at Eliza Restaurant & Bar. We were staying the night in Baton Rouge and AI had called out Eliza as one of the better local cuisine restaurants with GF options. Walking in without a reservation, the hostess kindly found us a table—an unexpected courtesy that made us feel both lucky and welcome (making a reservation is highly recommended, I saw 3 others walk-ins turned away).

The real highlight was how incredibly celiac-friendly this place is. I enjoyed some of the best hush puppies I’ve had—fried perfectly in a dedicated gluten-free fryer. I had the Corn Fried Local Seafood (Gulf Shrimp, catfish, crawfish hush puppies and string fries) The food was flavorful and authentic, and without feeling oily at all. Our server, Morgan, was fantastic in walking us through all the safe options for celiacs. If I were a local, I’d be a regular here. Highly Recommend. Only regret is I live in WA state and won’t likely be back anytime soon. Great place!“

“Got there during their happy hour got margaritas for $5. The restaurant is gorgeous, they are really in tuned with their customers habits. I ordered the Big Back Burrito, and was surprised that it wasn't wrapped. I was told that most customers eat it with cutlery, but glad that staff gave me another tortilla to wrap it. Overall the burrito was sooo good hoooly, if I were to come back I would ask if they could wrap it.

“The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. I ordered the fish ceviche which I found was refreshing and really flavorful. Dined in on July 4th with my family and they all enjoyed their meal, including my 3 year old who had a plate of chicken quesadilla with rice. The only part of the dinner that I felt was not up to the mark was the dessert. We ordered flan and chocolate cake. Didn't taste the freshest.“

“It's actually under a new name, Smoke Bayou. It was very busy but it was worth the wait. The service was solid, and the food was excellent. The beans were rich and flavorful, the slaw was crisp with well blanded dressing, the meat was fall off the bone, and the seasonings were deep with just a bit of bite. Outstanding. Give them a try.“

“So my experience at City Pork on Highland was amazing. The interior was clean and modern. I believe our servers name was Aisha, and I was honestly having a bad day and she made me feel so much better with her kindness and hospitality. My meal was the Pork Belly Hoagie and I would rate that an 8.5/10. I think if it had some pickled onions on it to balance the richness from the pork belly, it would be even more amazing. Although it did come with a pickle, but I didn’t really care for that, it was too sweet for my liking so I give that a 4/10. I also had a side of coleslaw, and it had this peppery taste, which I actually enjoyed, while it was still sweet (but not too sweet) and crunchy. I’ll give that a 7.5/10. My husband got the smoked chicken and he would give that a 9.5/10, because he wanted even more because it was so good.“

“This has been in our rotation of late night spots for a while. We love their drink menu and the Acadian Pasta. Finally got to try the short rib eggrolls and I see why they’re always sold out! So good.

After regular hours you have to order at the bar but bartenders didn’t all seem to be on one accord. Our order got kinda mixed up.“
