“Best Chinese food ever! I ordered chicken and broccoli, amazing! Also ordered orange chicken (medium heat) another amazing dish! Tender chicken, but not greasy. I ordered and paid online directly through their website and picked up myself. Order was ready on time, staff friendly and accommodating. 5 “

“Tried it while in the area based on Yelp reviews. Got the springs rolls and pan fried dumplings as appetizers. The spring rolls were okay not great. The pan fried dumplings were really good. for entrees we got the Vegetarian Delight, the Basil Chicken with eggplant in Garlic sauce, and Chicken in black bean sauce. The vegetables in the Delight were excellent, the sauce was one of those sort of Chinese American white sauces that I am not really a fan of but was still decent. The Basil chicken dish was quite tasty, really good sauce and the eggplant was really, really good. The chicken in black bean was a simple but excellent dish. The serving dishes might have seemed cool in concept but perhaps had a flaw in actual use because they seemed to have a tendency to easily overflow due to design that has weakness on either end. Simple order at the counter and they bring to your table in the small dining room. Seems to be primarily a take out place but the dining room was clean and the service to the table good. They checked in on us. Bathroom was nice and clean.“

“This is my second time getting takeout at Mandarin and it continues to never disappoint. I usually get the general tso's chicken which has the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The chicken is cooked perfectly and not mushy. The veggie lo mein is always good and the crab Rangoons are always crispy and fresh. I've had other items before like their pan fried dumplings and this place is the best for fresh Chinese food in the east Somerville area (not greasy!!). I've never had to wait for my food when I go to pick it up. The inside is nothing to rave about which is why a majority of their orders are takeout. I highly recommend Mandarin for a fresh classic Chinese meal!“

“This is my go-to for American-Chinese delivery. Overall, they provide good-to-decent food at very reasonable prices for the area, and I appreciate the consistency in their service. My favorites from this place are: - General Gau Chicken, Sesame Chicken - Sesame Beef, Orange Flavor Beef - Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Teriyaki - Spare Ribs - Korean Fish Corn Dog (*note below) I personally find their dumplings (home-made dumplings and shumaI) to be OK - like I'll get them if I'm specifically in the mood for those items, but I'd never go out of my way to get them. I also appreciate that Chow n' Joy is one of the few places in the area that still do the combo specials that let you pair entrees, rice and appetizers. *Oh, regarding the Korean Fish Corn Dog: I believe the meat in the corn dog is fished-based and is more of a fish-cake than a traditional hot dog weiner. It's also Korean style so there is a sweetness to it, including some okonomiyaki sauces - I personally like this but I can see westerners being surprised if they were expecting a traditional American corn dog.“

Oriental Chinese • $
513 Medford St, Somerville

“Pretty decent spot open late. Not sure why the recent reviews are super negative. I did move recently, so maybe it was better before. Picked up during a rainstorm when everything else nearby was closed. Took ~20 minutes for a fried rice and veggie lo mein. I like that they are obviously healthier than a lot of takeout places, even if it means the food isn't as flavorful as it otherwise could be. Brown rice gang ??“

“Fun restaurants on the border between Chinatown and downtown with a huge variety of hotpot offerings, different broths and other menu items for those that don’t want to engage in the messy fun. The service is great and super helpful especially for first timers. While the broths are great, overall the food is okay and will not blow your mind. The menu is a bit chaotic and it can be challenging to pick the right amounts and types of meat to use for the hotpot. I would probably try out different , smaller places going forward“

“I came here to celebrate Valentine's day with my husband. Personally speaking, I've not been a big fan of Asian fusion food, but I was delightfully surprised by the food at Myers & Chang. We got one beef udon dish and a braised beef dish, with both turning out very good but both a bit salty - so we had to get one more bowl of rice to top up. Additionally, they were kind enough to let me order a drink from the brunch menu. I would come back!“

“The food here is absolutely amazing and definitely worth the wait. Expect a wait time of 30 minutes to an hour due to its popularity, but it's well worth it. It's a pretty small place but can seat a lot. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Personally, I tried the Swing Pork Belly, Yo-In-Style Ramen Noodles, Beef and Enoki Cabbage Soup, and Black Fish Fillet with Szechuan Pickles. The Swing Pork Belly with its incredible garlic sauce and the Beef and Enoki Cabbage Soup with the perfect amount of spice and meat were standouts. If I could dine at Mountain House for every meal, I definitely would.“
