“So it is Monday July 14 and we just left Joe’s BBQ and my wife told me that my BBQ is better the Joe’s any-day. Sunday night we went to Q39 and wow what a difference. My wife and I both had the 3 meat and sides of beans,and vegetables. Every single thing we had was great. Chicken(white meat) had good flavor but chicken is chicken. Sausage was full of flavor with the peppers. Ribs were fall off the bone and didn’t need sauce. The pulled pork was really soft and melted in the mouth good. So at this point I have to say if you are in Kansas City for BBQ go to Q39 last because nothing compares the it at least in Kansas City anyway.“

“I’ve never left a review for anything in my life but this place is too good not to. Went with my family which included 5 kids ages 1-12. Sat outside so we could watch the band and the kids had a big area to run around and enjoy the music too. The food was out of this world good. The prices were good. The service was top 10 all time. The owner was working her butt off keeping everyone happy and her husband was doing the same on stage playing the bass guitar with the band Sunny Side Down which absolutely rocked. If you own a restaurant or thinking about it owning one, take some notes from these people. We’ll definitely be going back when we’re in the KC area.“

“A total of 12 hungry guys showed up after a long day of golf. We had traveled 5+ hours to the area for a nice long weekend of brotherhood. At the time this place was chosen to eat we didn't know how bad we actually needed it ! Food was amazing. Service amazing. Scott himself came out of the back to talk to all the patrons. Ended up giving us a mini tour of the smoke sanctuary. Beyond awesome. Bought some spicy sausage to bring home for the family. Worth your time, money and effort to go to this place. “Grew up in K C K. Old go to was Plesas bbq on Leavenworth rd. Went to slapps for the first time 6/27/22. Now my go to place used to be Jack Stack but they have slipped. Slapps my new bbq happy place!!“

“I asked for my meat to be lean and it can't back with a high level of fat and when I mentioned it to the waiter, his response was “would you like a refill on your soda”. No apology or any way to fix it but instead, let me there to pick all of the fat off“

“Amazing BBQ joint in NKC. The atmosphere is perfectly BBQ, wooden tables, BBQ theme decor, and almost a picnic feel. The tables are set with their 3 sauces (regular, spicy, and their take on a Carolina style), plus smoked ketchup. We tried the two meat platter: sliced sausage, burnt ends, Buffalo slaw, burnt end chili, plus Texas toast; and the brisket sandwich, which is my go to on a first visit. Everything was amazing! The brisket was sliced thin, not too thin, and not fatty at all. The burnt end chili was so full of flavor, and the slaw/beans were great. Hawg Jaw is definitely going in our rotation.“

“I cannot express enough how amazed I am with the customer service. Yesterday (Super Bowl Sunday—-GO CHIEFS!) I placed an online order. My pick up time was at 5 (earliest I could get because I waited too long to place the order) I arrive early hoping it would be done earlier because I had people arriving at my house and I didn’t want to miss the game. When I arrived it was packed on people waiting. I assumed I was going to be there for awhile so asked if I could order a beer. They got me a beer and a chair. As I sat there for over an hour (it went past my pick up time) I saw all of the employees working very hard trying their best to fill the orders quickly. Some of the customers were being quite rude to the girls up front as the customers were upset their food wasn’t ready. The girls did an amazing job keeping everyone calm they would simply just smile and tell them they are working on it. I was so impressed how these girls handled themselves not one time did I hear them get snippy with a customer even tho I’m sure they wanted to. It was always a smile with a polite response. I was there almost til the end and a guy started yelling at the girls and still it was a smile and polite response. I got my food and made it for the game and the food was delicious as always!“

“It would be nice if worlds of fun could do something about the skunks coming into the park. I have a season pass and I normally see 1 or 2 every summer in the outside eating area. Unfortunately the park is next to wood / tree area. So I'm not sure they can do much about it.“

“I had low expectations for this joint as it was recommended to me by a co-worker with pretty bad taste. I tried it anyways and boy was I surprised. This was the best pulled pork I've had and I've lived in KC long enough to try most all of the BBQ.

“I cannot always eat the meats most of my family does due to dietary restrictions, but I will tell you. This was the HANDS DOWN most tender, melt in my mouth beef brisket that I have had in years. Even the chicken was moist! The server we had was personable and handled the whole knack half the restaurant well even when it got slammed. We were in to visit our son from Rochester NY, and I can honestly say that nothing we have had there since moving there in 2017, is even comparable.“

“Was in town visiting and I heard good things about Gates back in Chicago, so I had to try them out. Stoped in before heading to the Saints vs Chiefs game. Ordered the turkey on a bun w/fries and lemonade. The turkey was good, the fries were fresh out the grease, but they don’t season the fries, you have to salt them yourself. The total was like $20 so a bit pricey. The sauce has a sweet but spicy taste to it.“
