“Chef J's BBQ was incredible! I was lucky enough to be able to order The Boss, therefore I got to try the Brisket and Jalapeno BBQ Sausage and both tasted fresh with the perfect amount of smoke. The ratio of fat and tender meat on the Brisket was perfect. My girlfriend and I showed up hungry and left with a full belly. The staff that work at Chef J's BBQ make you feel like your eating at home. 10 out of 10 experience!“

“Stopped for lunch on our way to Colorado. Ribs were amazing, fell off the bone! Our daughter has alpha gal and they took extra measures to make sure the turkey she got was safe and dodn't cross with any of the beef and pork. Even my North Carolina born and raised youngins were all about the food!“

“Excellent food, friendly service (and fast), generous portions (always need a to-go box), nice homey atmosphere, always clean. My neighbor and I go there often as it's only about a mile from where we live. One of our favorite places in all of KC, and handier than any other.“

“Classic Kansas City barbecue experience with amazing flavor and a fun atmosphere. The burnt ends, ribs, and signature BBQ sauce were absolutely delicious and packed with smoky flavor. The portions were generous, the service was quick, and the staff created an energetic and welcoming vibe. A must-visit spot for anyone wanting authentic Kansas City BBQ. Definitely one of the most memorable meals in the city!“

“I had low expectations for this joint as it was recommended to me by a co-worker with pretty bad taste. I tried it anyways and boy was I surprised. This was the best pulled pork I've had and I've lived in KC long enough to try most all of the BBQ.

“Went in for the 2 meat platter. I got brisket and sausage! It comes with bread and a side. The brisket was a bit dry, I’d expect a better quality when going to a specific bbq restaurant. Other than that the food was good. 4.2 stars from me due to the brisket being dry. They have a very great staff!“

“I cannot express enough how amazed I am with the customer service. Yesterday (Super Bowl Sunday—-GO CHIEFS!) I placed an online order. My pick up time was at 5 (earliest I could get because I waited too long to place the order) I arrive early hoping it would be done earlier because I had people arriving at my house and I didn’t want to miss the game. When I arrived it was packed on people waiting. I assumed I was going to be there for awhile so asked if I could order a beer. They got me a beer and a chair. As I sat there for over an hour (it went past my pick up time) I saw all of the employees working very hard trying their best to fill the orders quickly. Some of the customers were being quite rude to the girls up front as the customers were upset their food wasn’t ready. The girls did an amazing job keeping everyone calm they would simply just smile and tell them they are working on it. I was so impressed how these girls handled themselves not one time did I hear them get snippy with a customer even tho I’m sure they wanted to. It was always a smile with a polite response. I was there almost til the end and a guy started yelling at the girls and still it was a smile and polite response. I got my food and made it for the game and the food was delicious as always!“

“My husband and I had the best experience at this restaurant. The food was good as always. During our meal my husband had to use the rest room. He has some dementia and can’t walk very well. Unfortunately we were sitting at a table which was on the complete opposite side of the restaurant from the rest room. The server noticed our dilemma and said she would guide him over to the restroom. She was back immediately. I said, “Oh, he won’t be able to find his way back to this table.” The server told me not to worry about it. The restaurant manager had taken him over and would wait and bring him back. That is undoubtedly the kindest thing that has ever happened to us in a restaurant. Thank you to the wonderful people at the RoanRidge Texas Roadhouse.“

“Our first visit & we got the 3 meat meal per advice by a kind gentleman waiting in line with us. Definitely enough to food to feed the two of us! Beef & turkey were moist and flavorful, but the ribs were a bit dry. It is a wet BBQ, which I generally do not care for, but did not mind as I enjoyed their peppery sauce. I also enjoyed the fries, which were crisp on the outside but mash potato-like on the inside. Ladies behind the counter were not overly helpful, but other staff were exceptionally kind & helpful. Main eating area is dark, but you can sit in the light filled bar & watch the streetcar go by.“

“I had I think the most delicious chicken and pear salad I’ve ever had in my life here. There was a couple of conferences going on inside the hotel so the restaurant and bar area was crowded and there was only one staff person waiting on everyone. I don’t know what the situation was in the kitchen however, even though I had to wait for a service, I knew they were doing their best and when my salad came, it was so delicious. I also ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it was a very generous pour maybe making up for the lack of help that day. It did help me enjoy my lunch very much. I would go there just to go there even if I wasn’t attending anything at the hotel.“

“I recently stayed at the Sheraton in downtown Kansas City, and I have to say, the experience at the hotel restaurant, Spectators, was absolutely incredible. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with such warmth and professionalism by Mayleth. She escorted me to my table, gave excellent breakfast recommendations, and truly made me feel valued as a guest.
The breakfast itself was delicious, but what really stood out was the exceptional service. My waitress, Ziara, was just as amazing friendly, professional, always smiling, and genuinely engaging in conversation throughout the meal. Both of these ladies went above and beyond to create such a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
The ambiance at Spectators was calm, relaxing, and inviting. Honestly, it felt less like dining at a hotel restaurant and more like enjoying a meal at home with family. That kind of hospitality is rare to find.
If you ever stay at the Sheraton in downtown Kansas City, do yourself a favor and visit Spectators. And if you’re lucky enough to be taken care of by Mayleth and Ziara, you’re in for an outstanding experience.“
