“Enjoyed a really good dinner meal 🥘 at this restaurant - MATSUYA Japanese Steakhouse in Saddle Brook, NJ. I started off with an Avocado 🥑 and Crab 🦀 Meat Salad with Wasabi Dressing. Then a nice hot bowl of Japanese Miso Soup 🥣. Then went into that Entree - Sea Scallop Teriyaki with Fried Rice 🍚. Yes this place was slamming!!!!!!! Mentioned it to a guy I know and he said he went there for a meal with his wife. I guess they must be pretty good!!!!!! 😎 👍🏿👍🏿“

I decided to treat myself to celebrate the end of my doctorate program. It was a totally spontaneous decision, so I didn’t spend much time choosing a place. I opened Resy, typed “sushi midtown,” picked one of the top-rated spots, and honestly—I’m so glad I chose Sushi Yolo.

The food was great, but what really made the night special was Alex, the host. He was incredibly attentive and welcoming. I ended up having such a fun and meaningful conversation with him and another guest, Jerry—which is rare for me since I don’t usually talk to strangers. We talked about all kinds of things, and the vibe was just so easy and genuine.

Alex also kept pouring complimentary sake on the house, which was such a generous and thoughtful touch. This is one of those nights I’ll definitely remember—the atmosphere, the food, the conversations, and the company.

Thank you, Alex, for the amazing hospitality and real conversations. You and Jerry truly made my night.

I sat at the sushi bar and ordered the Sushi Deluxe, which came with 10 pieces of chef’s-choice sushi and a roll — I went with salmon and avocado. Pete, who is both the sushi chef and the owner, was excellent. We struck up a genuinely good conversation while I was eating, and he was friendly, complimentary, and clearly takes pride in what he does. One small but really impressive detail stood out: Pete noticed I like a little wasabi with my tuna and offered me fresh wasabi without me even asking. “This delightful place is a little hidden second floor restaurant, in a “shotgun” style layout - long and narrow, but still plenty of room to sit comfortably. Service was excellent, with prompt and unobtrusive attention y the staff, always ready to bring food and drinks to the table.
Six of us sat near a window and enjoyed grilled skewers of steak, chicken, and vegetables. I rather enjoyed the eggplant and unagi, and we particularly liked the casual and comfortable atmosphere.

First, the interior while not large is cozy and very inviting, complete with nice Japanese wall art, and even a stove heater in one section with many Japanese ceramics like tea pots on display.
I ordered a Chicken teriyaki lunch box (bento) - (Entree, $14.50, 4/5) - I was happy with the heft of the bag and upon opening it, food was hot and fresh. California rolls were good and 2 pieces of shumai were crispy and nicely seasoned. Rice was the right portion and chicken was fresh-tasting with good quantity of teriyaki veggies. Some pieces were a bit tough and the seasoning overall did not really permeate, but I didn't mind. I mean, it's lunch special so you can't really expect too much. I was nicely satisfied with this bento - not too much, not too little, and at a great price.

I used to do yoga right next door for years and had never gone in, but now I would like to dine in because they had that nice, cozy and authentic Japanese sushi house vibe that was so inviting + of course, good tasting food at reasonable price. I'll be back!“

“My favorite is the tofu bowl. Tofu is usually a hit or miss for me but this is one of the few places they do it soo well!! I've had the other bowls as well which are good too but the tofu is always the best.

Translated from Japanese, meaning “looks beautifully flavored,” my partner and I decided to stop for a quick bite at this establishment situated on a busy Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights.

Upon entering this clean and relaxed vibe as first-timers to Oishi Sushi, we had the entire place to ourselves and decided on a table by the window. They also have a small stool area in front of the sushi chefs.

Their extensive menu comprises a range of sushi rolls, sashimi, and bento boxes.

We opted for the Seaweed Salad, Avocado Roll, and Vegetable Lover Roll.

Food was excellent, presented well, and using the freshest quality ingredients. The Seaweed Salad was a tad salty; otherwise, everything tasted deliciously good. The price and portions were reasonable. The service was quick; the staff was friendly and courteous.

Fries with sausage but salty, but good beer pairing.
Also ordered house sake hot to go along with horumon Hotpot.
After cabbage subsided, real broth emerged. So good. Perfect winter soul food.
Need carb so added udon noodle. More protein and fat with pork belly which is shabu shabu like thinly sliced.
