“A great tasting menu experience with exceptional food quality and service. Hood River has been in need of a true fine dining experience and Votum delivers. My partner and I share a birthday and celebrated at Votum. I loved that they have tasting menu reservations as late as 9 pm.
We had to tasting menu with wine pairing and added the caviar. Every dish was excellent, and the wine well-paired. The caviar was some of the best I’ve had. The sable fish and beef tongue/ravioli were standouts, and we loved the multiple dessert courses. Even dishes I don’t traditionally love (steelhead, lamb) were so high-quality and executed so well that I enjoyed every bite.
Nathan provided excellent and perfectly attentive service the likes of which I haven’t had in recent memory. He’s clearly a fine dining pro with deep experience who balances storytelling and service without being intrusive.
Small points of feedback… I understand the aesthetic they are going for, but something feels a bit missing in their current layout and decor. It’s a beautiful building, and they’re going for a minimalist aesthetic, But I would love to see them solicit some design help to bring the atmosphere on par with the food and service in the long-term. It feels a bit more like a big hotel conference room than an intimate dining experience. These things are expensive, and as small business owners I think they focused first on what matters most.
I would recommend they invest in getting their fruit fly situation under control. Totally understand that it is common struggle at this time of year, but other fine dining establishment seem to be able to sort it.
Do prepare for the price tag, as it is substantial, but for us having these types of experiences is worth it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my foodie friends and anyone who truly appreciates fine food and service. We had a great time and will be back”
“Amazing food and service. Everything was of the highest quality. Can’t recommend enough”
“On our way back to Pendleton from Portland, we stopped to charge our car. Then walked over to Solstice Wood Fire Pizza for dinner. We decided to order the BLBB pizza, a hot Kenyan Grey tea, and a huckleberry organic lemonade. Our server Brad N did an awesome job making our dining experience a real treat.”

“Pine Street Bakery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On 9/15/22, I stopped in Hood River, Oregon to check out Pine Street Bakery. Owner Megan Davis’s mother started Grand Central Bakery in Seattle, Washington in 1972. Today, there are 11 locations between Portland and Seattle. If you ever have an opportunity to visit a Grand Central Bakery/Café, I recommend it. I wanted to try one of their famous Cardamom Knots, which are Challah dough slathered in Vanilla Butter, covered in Cardamom Sugar and tied in a Knot. Unfortunately, they were out. I got a Carrot Cake cupcake ($5), which is one of their best sellers, as well as a Maddie Cake cupcake ($5). The Maddie Cake cupcake is a seasonal cupcake that changes with some regularity. The current Maddie Cake cupcake is Peaches & Cream. It is Vanilla cake filled with Peach compote made from local peaches, topped with a Vanilla Swiss Meringue Butter cream frosting. I enjoyed both cupcakes but my favorite of the two was the Maddie Cupcake because it was so unique. There was a generous amount of peach compote in the center of the cupcake, as well as on top. The compote had great flavor. Both cupcakes were fairly dense but moist. In addition to the baked goods and breads, Pine Street Bakery has Breakfast, Lunch, and Coffee menus, as well as specials. They also sell a lot of other products and fresh flowers. Highly Recommended!!!”

“It’s hard for me to believe that their rating is only 4.9 stars. I’ve been a customer since they opened and everything they make is superb. They continue to expand their offerings and they just built an eating space complete with beautiful flowers which compliments their very special store. Highly recommend Edeske!”
“Nice spot. Parking can run hot and cold. Excellent shop, well taken care of. Slim on staffing, adequate to the task. Fewer food offerings than some other places, but nothing to knock them on. It was all excellent. Family friendly. Plenty of 4 tops can easily be 6, or taller tables for couples.”

“Thank you Boda's Kitchen for everything you do. You make everyday special and special days extraordinary. From the cookies, hot and cold sandwiches, fantastic salads (actually more than fantastic), roast chicken and potatoes, to your cheese and salum selections and all the tasty treats to go with. Then the special days, wow, your catering is absolutely the best. We all know that if it comes from Boda's, it will be incredible. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you”
“What a great experience! Great drinks, Great food , and amazing staff”
“Loved it. Had chicken vindaloo, lamb biryani (wow!) and malai kofta. All excellent!”
“Cute little dive bar with a full menu, and pool table. Same owner as the Grille next door. Friendly staff and customers, great place to chat and make a friend.
Smoking area put back behind the pool table. Multiple seating area rooms for dining, groups, and a well stocked full bar.
Classic dive bar drink prices and happy hour special. Several local spirits from PNW distillers, to try without breaking the bank.
Chicken schnitzel was tender and fresh. Roasted cauliflower and lentil soup was delicious on a cold rainy evening!”

“As a professional wedding planner, I had the great joy of working a wedding here in July and I was BLOWN AWAY by this venue, not only for it's views and architecture but also by it's company culture, customer service and love for clients. I have added this venue to our VIP Venue list for 2024+2025 which grants their clients a $200 discount on all wedding planning packages simply because we can't wait to work at this venue again!”
“I ordered the Thai Chicken. They will ask you what level of heat you want. I get Thai hot, I'm not real sensitive to spicy food. It was delicious and comes with brown rice, decent portions and pair it with Thai tea and you'll have a delicious meal. I would highly recommend this place.”
“We went to u-pick the end of June for the first time and it is so beautiful there. There u-pick farm is very reasonably priced and the fruit taste amazing. We are headed back very soon. Highly recommend this place!!”
“Visited in early August and sat outside in the garden right next to the lavender farm, which they also own. It’s a stunning setting where you can look out at the vineyards and mountains while taking in the smell of the lavender.
We tried the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir Blanc ($11/glass each), and both were refreshing for a warm summer day. Beautiful spot to sit back, sip some wine, and enjoy the scenery.”
Takeout Restaurants
“We were so fortunate to find this unique Cafe with one of the most eclectic and carefully curated menus. The tacos, enchiladas and quesedillas were just the right portions and we could taste the freshness of their ingredients. The crush puppies were a star as were the cider flights. What stuck with us though was how friendly, personable and genuinely kind the staff was. They made it an incredible experience. It was the most grounded and relaxing eating experience we could have imagined. Keep shining and we will certainly be back when we can!”
“Blossom baking made our wedding cake and it was the most beautiful and most delicious cake I’ve ever had. I’m not even a huge cake person and it was so good I cried when I had the sample. Also, the owner was so incredibly kind and friendly and FUN to work with which is such a welcome quality when you’re a stressed out bride. She was so energetic and lovely! We chatted about decor for the cake and I sent her some photo ideas of what I was kind of thinking and she absolutely exceeded any expectation I had. My jaw dropped when I saw the cake it was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much Blossom Baking for putting so much love and care into our wedding cake! I highly recommend them for any cake/ confection/ dessert needs you may have.”
“I have been coming here for quite some time and I will tell you that this place never disappoints. Pork carnitas tacos are my staple here, but you can find whatever you're craving. I would suggest calling ahead as it can get busy especially around lunch or in the late afternoon. Great prices and a Hood River Landmark.”
“What a rad little shop! Nice collection of taps and bottles/cans. Amanda and Ika were a treat to hang out with. Will definitely be back.”
“We brought family in from Texas who were visiting for the first time in 10+ years. They remembered The Pines and old vine zin from a decade ago and wanted to make sure they returned. Geoffrey made it a great experience for them.. loved everything they tasted. Some old vine Zin will make its way on Alaska airlines back to Texas!!”

“FANTASTIC inclusive Sunday matinee event yesterday! We sang, we made new friends, and loved every moment. 💜 Not your typical stuffy boring wine tasting crowd!
Lobster quiche paired well with the wines suggested. The themed mimosas to match the event were also quite nice!
LGBT welcoming space with a fun and artistic crowd. We'll be back for sure. This is about to become our favorite event space in Hood River. Keep up the great work!”
“I have not had a beer here (yet) but the little bar downstairs is the best in town as far as I am concerned. It is such an intimate environment and the bartender is so welcoming and knowledgeable. The zero proof cocktails are as well thought out and delicious as the regular menu. If you're in HR and the place is open, do yourself a favor.”
“Just reviewing onion rings, and these are delicious and tied with the 2nd best I've had (which includes all of the reddit recommended spots in Portland).
Cute tiny little countryside dinner with a drive-through and a comparatively big parking lot.
Almost no wait time while I was there in the late afternoon, but signage says most of their orders are online so wait times could be long.
Service was nice and felt normal for a small place with constant traffic.”

“Freshies is a banger! Def recommend the salmon bagel. Similar to how I’d recommend the film, ‘O brother, where art thou?’
I miss when the cohen brothers made movies together. Similar to how I’ll miss freshies bc I live a few hours drive away.
Similar to george Clooneys character, Ulysses Everett McGill, I too might need to go on an odyssey adjacent adventure to reclaim family, self and bagels.
Tomatoes were super fresh as well which was nice.”
“First time customer and the food was wonderful! I had an amazing Chai Vanilla Latte made by Clara. Clara was so nice to us and helpful despite a huge volume of customers coming in waves all at the same time! She is the kind of employee any business would be blessed to have. Thank you so much Ground Coffee!!”
“Best food in Hood River! And right up there with the top restaurants in Portland, as well. Tasty seafood options, steaks, pasta. Good variety, focusing on quality over quantity. Beautiful presentation. Desserts are top notch and in appropriate proportions. Having been here many times over the years, we drove an hour from Portland just for dinner on a beautiful day. The views from the deck are wonderful!”

“The perfect coffee shop! The barista is super friendly and helpful! The hand-crafted drinks taste like they are made with care, not just churned out of an assembly line. The breakfast burritos are fresh and delicious. The outdoor seating is lovely, but if you are in a hurry, it's easy to get in and out fast. Prices are very reasonable. Great place!”
“Absolutely wonderful hidden gem of a family restaurant. Go out of your way to dine here. You won't regret it. We took multiple families and everyone was very happy with what they had. Sopes, enchiladas, quesadillas, all earned the highest praise. We can't wait to return!!”
“Quaint place open late on weekdays. Really decent family style Mexican food with extensive menu and daily specials. Ordered the quesabirria taco special on a Tuesday - came out hot, loaded up plate, absolutely cheesy delicious, maybe a tad soggy as another reviewer mentioned but I’m not gonna whine about that because the flavor was on point and clearly freshly prepared for our very large dinner party of 15. Can’t speak to other dishes our party ordered other than Lengua tacos my wife had which were cubed meat rather than shredded as I prefer. Flavorful and great tasting house sauces! Overall, food really hit the spot after a hot, long day of travel. Service was polite, patient, timely with hot food, and attentive (even with our large group). Lovely ambience with outdoor patio space, decorations, wall murals and relatively clean bathrooms. Seemed busy enough even late on a weekday, particularly carry out. No complaints, great little restaurant and would definitely return if in the area again.”
“We drove out from Beaverton today to enjoy all the autumn leaves and ended up at Divots. The fish in the fish and chips was delicious. And our server, Grace, made the experience absolutely wonderful.”
“We eat at Romuls when visiting Hood River. The service has always been attentive. Our group has ordered various items over the years. Each person has praised their food. The bar is like a small family gathering.”
“Food was amazing! Best burger I've had in a long time. Sushi was the bomb!! Staff is awesome with fast service”
“One of those delightful finds! Old School, cold beer, Kelly was an incredible bartender - lots of locals, good music on the juke. I had to work - high speed internet - quiet table - Kelly even turned on the lights for me lol. I look forward to coming back and shooting some pool!”
“Highly recommend for a great atmosphere and great drinks. We enjoyed our evening on the patio next to the propane fireplace, drinking the special of the day, sharing a pizza (perfectly cooked) and listening to the live band”
“Wonderful unique drinks. Best nachos ever!!!!! The staff were so nice!!!”

“Food is consistent and cooked to order. A special shout out of appreciation to Tilly Jane’s as they will often get young teens in to grab a bite after school/before a game. The entire staff has always been gracious to the kids. Thank you for being welcoming to all ages (and for having a menu that even picky teens love).”

“This is a MUST VISIT in Hood River. Traveling here from PA and I am in awe of this establishment. The best vibe, drink list, food, and service. This is truly a brewery for everyone. Wish I could make a replica for PA.”
“Really nice, authentic Japanese Ramen shop. Ramen is on the spicier side so ensure you order to your taste preference. Rich and flavorful broth. The Calamari was also delcious. Great spot, don't skip it.”
