“Beyond being some of the (if not the sole) best Italian food I have ever had, what stands out most about Dish Osteria is their commitment to true hospitality; we arrived early to have drinks at the bar, and from the start we were treated with care and true personal interest. The bartender was so insightful and walked us through the menu, answering any questions we might have so that we could order our dinner with ease (it was last Wednesday at 8PM— I forget his name, but please give him his flowers. He was amazing!). I had the Little Bird bourbon cocktail and absolutely loved it. This level of care continued as we moved to our table for dinner. Our waiter and host went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal, refreshing our bread without us having to ask (that homemade focaccia was dangerous— we couldn’t stop eating it!), suggesting wine pairings, and also allowing us to taste two options when we couldn’t choose. Every single dish we ordered was phenomenally crafted and delicious ; we ordered the Gamberi shrimp and grilled artichoke salad to start, followed by the short rib ragu gnocchi and rigatoni with smoked scamorza for our entrees (I will dream about both of these dishes for some time). For dessert, we had the lemon cello cheesecake, which was perfectly balanced with sweet and tangy flavors. Our waiter also provided us with a complimentary glass of moscato with our dessert. This was a phenomenal first experience at this restaurant and I cannot wait to come back. I’m also gifting a visit here to some of my friends for their anniversary and can’t wait for them to try it as well!“

The menu had different items this time around, but we could not be happier with our selections. The drinks/food came out at the perfect time, our fried mozzarella and pasta dishes were still steaming when brought to the table, the entire staff including our waitress were all extremely friendly and accommodating even with a packed house. “We’ve dined twice at Alla Famiglia and it’s the best Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. Their portions are massive and we’ve always had enough for lunch the next day. The three things we recommend are the grilled octopus appetizer, any of the veal chops, and the seafood diavola. You need to see the size of the veal chops in person as pictures online don’t do it justice. We thought the Cavatappi tasted better than the Cacio pasta, even though Cacio costs more. Overall it’s pricey for Pittsburgh, but the quality is superior and you get enough for lunch the next day. Another tip is get a bottle of their spicy olive oil on the way out. I add it to many dishes for an extra kick and it makes for a great present.“

What sets this place apart is the farm to table ingredients and truly special preparations; which creates dishes that are so dynamic and interesting. The team works with small producers, grows some of their own produce + herbs, and mills their own grain for house made bread. My favorite sip was the "So Long Frankie Louise" cocktail and my favorite bite was the homemade bread roll. When you get a reservation here expect out of this world food & service plus:- Truly great alcohol free options including mocktails, zero proof beer & wine Surprise bites throughout your meal.- Lots of choice & small plates - great for the table to try a little of a variety of dishes.- This is such a unique spot to book for that special occasion.Definitely go hungry and be prepared to be well nourished!“

“An authentic Italian experience, in a small restaurant off the beaten path. My boyfriend took me for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection. I ordered scallops over pasta. The scallops were browned in butter, tender and succulent. The pasta was hand made. The Italian bread was home made. My friend’s spaghetti bolognese was pilled high and mighty tasty. Even the pairing of wine suggestions were spot on. The father and son do most of the cooking and baking. And they are Italians. We passed the pastry counter on our way out, so I filled a box with beautiful cannolis, cookies and tarts and spent the rest of my boyfriend’s money. All good!“

“Started my Pittsburgh foodie adventures in this adorable little sit-down pizza restaurant in Shadyside! We tried the Pizza Del Re (white pizza) and Pizza Della Casa (red pizza), and both lived up to the hype! Pizza Del Re: - White pizza with mozzarella, truffle spread, & prosciutto (it comes with mushrooms too, but we got it without because my boyfriend doesn't like mushrooms) - A super rich truffle taste that was so yummy - Loved the thin crust, but there were parts that tasted a little too burnt Pizza Della Casa: - Red tomato sauce pizza with mozzarella, grape tomatoes, arugula, prosciutto, & parmigiano - I love the combination of prosciutto & arugula and it was a plus that the arugula tasted so fresh & wasn't bitter - I personally prefer red sauce over white sauce, so I liked this pizza a little bit more To top off your meal here, make sure to get their gelato for dessert! I got a small size with 2 flavors -- tiramisu and hazelnut. Both flavors were super rich and yummy and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.“

The atmosphere is cozy, bright, and inviting. Both of us got seafood pasta dishes, and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing so I could have leftovers! The tiramisu was delicious…and a very hefty portion size of it, too. We split a bottle of wine from their shop next door, and Kelsey brought it to our take for us so we didn’t have to move. Generous portion sizes, excellent food quality, and a very reasonable price point. The service was excellent. I can’t say enough good things about this place. We live just down the block, and really, there isn't enough local eats that still feel a bit dressed up, even though casual wear is appropriate. We've gone twice now, and both times, our servers have been lovely. On our latest date on Thursday, our server was there to greet us and ask about beverages not a minute after we sat down. She was super attentive, very fast, and a total sweetheart. The food has some hits, but it's all up to preference. I love the cheese ravioli. My boyfriend had the steak hoagie and we both agreed that while the steak was perfectly cooked, the sauce was a bit on the sweet side for us. That said, it was well made and presented, and we still left with full bellies. Carbonara's is fast becoming a regular date spot for us, and I haven't been disappointed yet. And those portion sizes? Overall though, the decor and aesthetic is beautiful. We ordered the focaccia, which was delicious but wasn’t served warm. The charred eggplant was the standout. The ziti pasta and meatballs are delicious but I would order all the wedding soup until it was sold out if I lived in the area! I am immediately going back to buy a quart before finishing the pasta. Please do not discredit the other food items. I LOVE SOUP! This brings me goosebumps and warm feelings to how delicious it is! Wonderful job! (1 hour later) I did go back right before closing and ordered a quart to go and could not resist the pizza. I'm glad I didn't stop myself. I met Vito, the owner who makes his ingredients fresh every morning, and praised him for his love that he pours into his food. He's a great person and the friend you'd invite to every family gathering. I've traveled all over the world for work and this is the BEST SOUP! “I’m always pleased with my meal at John Anthony’s. On this visit I had the John D Sandwich - fried eggplant and chicken on a hoagie roll topped with marinara, cheese, and John Anthony peppers, and it was terrific. The only problem was it was so big that I couldn’t finish it, so I brought the rest home. My wife had eggplant parmigiana and she was very pleased with it. But the hit of the table was my friend’s Buffalo Chicken Calzone. That will be on my short list of choices on my next visit.Dietary restrictions: One friend at the table has to be gluten free, and she was very pleased with the number of gluten free options and her dinner.“

“We tried this place for the first time last month and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. We didn't have a reservation but they sat us in the bar area so I guess I would most likely make a reservation next time . I ordered the chicken parmigiana and it was huge ! Also very good . Very generous portions for sure . Can't wait to go back“

“They make really good sandwiches. I had the Italian sub. The bread was soft and chewy and the fillings were tasty. I will probably go extra meat next time just because it tasted so good. My wife had the fish sandwich. This was no little fish sandwich! The filet of fish hung out a good 3 inches in each side of the bun. It's a plain sandwich with just the fish, but it was light and flakey (you can add cheese, tartar or ketchup. I would definitely recommend it.“

“What a great idea to have a "fast food" shop just 1/2 block from the actual full service, very busy restaurant. With fresh, refrigerated, and frozen food, bread, sandwiches, the restaurant favorites, without the wait. No seating, just an order counter, with wonderful staff, anxious to help. Go!! You will not be disappointed!“

“I read some good reviews about this place, so I stopped in for carry-out for lunch on a Monday. The folks working there were GREAT! Really friendly and they explained how they make much of their food. I was tempted by their chicken tenders, so I asked if they used frozen chicken tenders and they not only said “no” and explained how they made them, they just happened to be making a batch of fresh tenders and showed me the fresh chicken breasts they use to make them. I ordered their Nashville Hot tenders and they were AMAZING! The breading was very light and flavorful and the dry Nashville Hot seasoning was spicy… very tasty!!I also got their Deluxe Italian sub, half size and it was excellent! Very fresh ingredients and the sub came together great… Very Nice!!This place is carry-out only, but they do deliver and they do prepare food rather quickly. Highly recommend! I’ll definitely return!!“

“I search out local pub restaurants when I travel for work. Gino Brothers did not disappoint! Had the chicken parm, which was very good. They have about a dozen beers on tap, many other bottled selections, and a full bar! "Pizzeria" is an understatement, the menu has a wide selection. If you're staying at one of the nearby hotels (like I was), it's a 2 minute drive. Maybe a 10-15 minute walk if you plan on having more than a few beers! If the weather is good, there's a small outdoor seating area too.Kristie and the others behind the bar were friendly and service was great even though things got busy at happy hour.If I'm in town again, I'll be back.“

“Excellent Italian food close to Robinson Town Center mall. Stopped here after a day of shopping. Started my meal with a bowl of wedding soup- very good. They also serve you with fresh baked bread with a side of their rosemary olive oil for dipping. This is complementary which is rare nowadays. For my main meal I had the Pasta Bravo- which is pasta with grilled chicken and mushrooms in a red pepper cream sauce which was amazing!! I would recommend this over Olive Garden.“
