“Had to try the iconic Joe Beef while in Montreal. Made resos well ahead to make sure we got the time slot desired. We were shown to our table. The dining area is sneaky large as there are lots of tables in various areas around the restaurant and also a bar counter area. The tables are very close together so it feels tight and gets very noisy as the restaurant is full.

Our server, Julien, did a great job in explaining the menu and offered up good choices in wine pairings for the food. We chose the beef tartar with bone marrow toast, smoked meat terrine, duck breast with duck sausage, and the halibut (fish of the day), and a side of asparagus. For dessert we shared the marjolaine cake. All the dishes were nicely plated and very tasty.“

“I had the mango lassi, tempeh bites and shared a carrot cake. All good (taste, freshness, wholesome, ethical). My friends had the burger, creamsicle smoothies, mimosas, sandwiches and Choco banana pie. Everyone enjoyed the food but the vegan factor, atmosphere and service was the highlight. It’s a beautiful place to be and the servers were so polite, patient and proactive even when we were all spacing out. They’re one of the trailblazers of the vegan scene in Montreal so I’ll give them that.

Side note: Before I ordered I asked a staff member if the workers are treated better these days because I heard horror stories from the past. He replied convincingly and happily that yes everything is good now and the staff are treated much better by the new management and they get asked that a lot. I took that as the full truth but when I got home I read another review from 6 months ago that said the staff are paid less than the minimum wage (because it’s a restaurant so they can get away with it legally — that’s the tipping culture here but I don’t think it’s right. They should be paid at least minimum wage just as a protection measure whether or not changes are made to the business. The prices of the food seem high enough to cover it but maybe not because of greedy landlords ? I don’t think workers should have to take less than their work is worth when a client comes in knowingly not willing to pay tip because of their financial situation regardless of the price of the food. While people shouldn’t go out to eat if they can’t afford tipping at restaurants that expect tip (not all restaurants do — you can try places that don’t expect tips like Larry’s but you’re going to pay more and it isn’t vegan), it shouldn’t have to turn into a scene that humiliates multiple parties. If I was a waiter I would let it slide with the customer because it’s just one person whereas the employer/government create the problem in the first place that needs to be solved (charge 15% more for food and write no tips on the menu and increase hourly salaries by however much they would make usually with tips or when a client pays less than 15% for tip the employer will cover the difference)“

“Top five meals of my life. Sat at the bar and Bryan spent a lot of time with me going over the menu and wines which I could order by the glass. Let me sample the wines as well. I had five small plates and four glasses of wine. Some of these were absolutely exquisite, specifically the mushrooms. They made rapini taste good. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? The atmosphere was very friendly and decor interesting. Thank you so much Bryan and Chefs.“

“Mauvais service. Un pogo a glissé du petit panier faisant un dégât sur la table et sur mes vêtements. Quand j’ai signalé le problème, une des commis m’a passé un rouleau de papier pour que je nettoie le tout moi-même. Elle m’a offert de remplacer le pogo, ce que j’ai décliné. Dans n’importe quel bouie-bouie, on serait venu passer un linge humide, pas ici.“

“Brought my golden retriever hoping to find a patio spot on a quiet Tuesday night, and the staff at Toqué! went out of their way to make us both feel genuinely welcome. The sommelier actually came outside to chat with us while we waited for our table, which felt like such a warm touch. I ordered the aged duck with roasted root vegetables and it was honestly one of the best things I've eaten in Montreal, perfectly balanced and beautifully plated. If you have a dog and you're looking for a fine dining experience that doesn't make you feel like an afterthought, this is the place.“

“I love to go to this place for the all you can eat sushi and other Asian dishes! It's a pretty big place with long tables, so it's a good spot for group outings. The crispy sesame seitan beef and sushi pizza are some of my faves! Service is pretty fast except when it comes to drinks, I highly recommend ordering drinks as soon as possible because they can take quite a while to arrive.“

“Hace una semana fui con unos amigos que vinieron de visita desde Sherbrooke, la atención de las chicas es maravilloso, pero hay una persona LGBT, alto, delgado y de lentes que tiene una prepotencia para atender, inició una de las chicas atendiéndonos y necesitaba una servilleta, el chico estaba cerca y cuando se la pedí me volteo a ver feo y me contestó muy prepotente como si mi dinero no valiera ahí, luego le pedí una cerveza y nunca me llegó y me la quisieron agregar a la cuenta, y cuando le comenté a la chica, el chico se acercó y me preguntó muy grosero si siempre si iba a querer la cerveza o ya no, después de esperarlo por 20 minutos, no es la primera vez que voy, la verdad el servicio de todos es maravilloso, pero la de el no, no sé si porque yo también sea gay el se siente con el derecho de tratarme así o quien sabe, pero si deberían supervisar el trato al cliente de sus colaboradores, de ahí solo me queda agradecer por la comida que es muy rica 🫶🏽✨“

“This is plant-based fast-food place on Maisonneuve Blvd West that is open from 8am to 9pm (weekdays) and 11am to 8pm (weekends). They have a menu of vegetarian friendly dishes at reasonable prices. Service was friendly and fine during our recent visit. On the occasion we tried the Galaxy burger with fries and the Asian Fusion power bowl. Both were pretty good for the prices charged. It is good that there are healthy food options like Copper Branch. Would be fine eating here again next time in Montreal.“
