“Great experience! The chef definitely has years of experience in his craft. The food preparations are a work of art. The flavor combinations are impeccable. The chef explains each dish with great detail, including the process of aging certain fish. The flavor can't be explained. Try it for yourself. We'll deserved Michelin star. Will return.“

“Review is for Tonari by Uroko.
I think there needs to be more concepts like this — 12 course omakase that only lasts 45min. (You simply don’t need to be at an omakase for 2-2.5hrs) Excellent dishes for the price point and glad to have still had time on my hands. The scallop, Wagyu, and fish bone soup were the stand out dishes for me. Would do this again and prefer it over a lot of overpriced omakases in town.“

“I ate here while in town for Afrotech! I started with the Sunomono Salad (Cucumber, green onion, crab stick, octopus, radish sprouts, sesame seeds with ponzu sauce). I then had two rolls: 1. Who’s Your Daddy? (no rice) (Deep fried crab, cooked shrimp, cream cheese with special sauce); 2. I Love Tuna (in: spicy Tuna, cucumber out: Blue fin Tuna, green onion sauce: Garlic ponzu, green onion, masago) EVERYTHING was amazingly good, the staff was very friendly, efficient, and ensured you had a great dining experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“

“Tonight, my husband and I tried Uchiko for the first time. We had the Okamase. Everything was absolutely delicious. They put so much creativity and detail in every dish. We had a wonderful waitress. I would definitely recommend it.“

“The neighborhood sushi restaurant is an absolute gem! It was my second time there, and I couldn't resist choosing it to celebrate my birthday. My husband and I had a fantastic time there. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was cozy and inviting. To top it off, they even surprised me with a delicious birthday dessert and a polaroide picture, which was incredibly thoughtful and made my day even better. The only downside was the parking. There are only a few spots available at the restaurant, so you'll need to find another place to park nearby. To avoid any hassle, I recommend arriving a little earlier than planned.“

“Korean review: really inexpensive and one of the only places in South Austin to get your Korean food fix. I know other reviews had some service problems but experienced NONE of that. Greeted immediately when walking in, we picked our seats and had multiple staff during our hour and a half stay check up on us even with a crowd of others arriving after us. We got the Kimbap appetizer split it for two (was delicious didn't need anything else like a sauce - perfect on it's own!). I got the beef bulgogi and my friend got the Rock Bibimbap with spicy pork (like regular Bibimbap but in a hot pot!). YALL LEMME TELL YOU THIS WAS SO GOOD. I was having an emotional experience with these flavors. Banchan selection was good too. Got 6 of them and one of them kimchi. I'll be back for take out and eventually try out the Japanese and Sushi portion of the menu.“

“this is one of the first restaurants I went to in Austin. 5 years ago and its still a favorite. love the vibe, it's never too busy, the food is delicious and the owners are nice. Today my pregnancy baby brain kicked in and I forgot my purse there and didn't notice for over 2 hours, they set it aside for me at their reserved table so no one would take it. Love drunk fish ❤❤“

“First visit here, and the food was amazin…..seriously delicious.
That said, many of the employees were taking shots during my visit, which made the service feel unprofessional and inconsistent. As someone who’s worked as a server in the past, I’d hate to see such a good restaurant’s reputation affected by lapses in professionalism.
I’d still return for the food, but hope management keeps an eye on maintaining proper standards.“

“This marks my third year dining at Tsuke Edomae, and somehow the experience continues to deepen rather than plateau. Recently ranked #7 by Food & Wine among the hardest restaurant reservations to get in the U.S.—just one spot behind The French Laundry in Yountville—Tsuke Edomae could easily lean into exclusivity. Instead, it does the opposite.
Despite the demand, Tsuke Edomae still operates like a true mom-and-pop restaurant. Chef Michael and Nhi run the space with humility, intention, and an almost old-world sense of hospitality. Chef Mike famously dislikes the term “VIP.” There are no VIPs here—only regulars. And that distinction matters.
In the traditional Japanese sense, becoming a regular isn’t about status; it’s about trust, loyalty, and time. Over time, you may be served items not listed on any menu—dishes reserved for those who’ve built a genuine relationship with the chef. That philosophy is alive and well at Tsuke Edomae, and it’s one of the most meaningful aspects of dining here.
What makes this even more remarkable is the effort behind the scenes. Chef Mike travels to Japan every two weeks to source fish and ingredients—an unheard-of commitment for a restaurant in the U.S. He continues to apprentice himself, humbly washing dishes and serving at Chef Hiro’s restaurant in Japan, simply to keep learning and to maintain the relationships that allow him to bring rare, local Japanese fish to Austin. That level of dedication isn’t marketing—it’s craft.
And somehow, with all of this, Tsuke Edomae remains the lowest-priced omakase in Austin. Their entire model prioritizes loyalty over luxury and accessibility over margin. It’s a quiet rebellion against what high-end dining has become.
Tsuke Edomae isn’t just an incredible meal—it’s a living philosophy. Each visit reminds me why I keep coming back. Not for hype. Not for status. Just to sit at the counter, eat extraordinary food, and be treated like a regular.“

“The food was good and the presentation was clean and creative. The sashimi and nigiri pieces were quite large—I ended up cutting them into bite-sized pieces with my chopsticks. The handrolls were a good size and easy to eat. The menu doesn’t offer much variety, but now I know: if I want more options, I’ll just go elsewhere. Still, a solid spot if you know what to expect.“

“Very good bento box! I had the beef bulgogi and kiddo had the chicken teriyaki. Everything tastes fresh and well prepared. It was a good value with 2 pieces of nigiri in addition to the typical Cali roll, tempura veggies, soup, salad, rice, veggies, and gyoza. We will be back!“

“My wife and I discovered this place years ago in search of ramen and ever since then we rarely go any other place to get our fix. This small little place may be tight, but the atmosphere and the food make it all worth the experience and taste you get from this place. The people here are all just ever so delightful to interact with and it's truly a hidden gem that is getting the recognition it deserves. 10/5 would recommend if you're starting a ramen search“

“As soon as I came into this place I felt connected. I went in the evening and they had sports playing, anime, and a YouTube channel on TV. Great service and the fried sushi rolls were phenomenal 😁. Bravo with hands clapping and back flips. I will be back hungry for more.“
“Got the roll omakase and my partner got the regular omakase. Quality was great and the cadence was too. Only critique was the seaweed, wish it was roasted a little longer so it would be a bit more crisp/tender when they bring it out. Flavor was on point with or without soy/wasabi.“

“Only next level Japanese dining enthusiasts would be able to immediately recognize that they have chosen well. If you are lucky enough to discover the Happy Hour menu then you’ve hit the jackpot. Do yourself a favor and go because ain’t nobody have dry aged fish! What?!? Yes this separates Lucky Robot from the rest of the Japanese places in Austin. Put it on the bucket list folks!“
“Great chain grocery store, we visit every time we come to Austin, fantastic range of fresh and dry products. Could spend hours here on a hot day just wandering around checking out the displays. Cannot wait to visit again. TIP: This is Texas so remember to buy your wine before Sunday. If you’ve found this review helpful, I would appreciate a thumbs up below.“

“This restaurant is located in a Whole Foods Market. Right next to the fruit station. Most people come here in search of the freshest and most high quality ingredients in their city. So what’s the deal with the sushi place? ? I got Salmon Teriyaki Bowl, it was $15.49 & delicious. Dodged the veggies, not there’s anything wrong with them, I’m just scared of vegetables. Overall, I can see this becoming a more frequent lunch for me in a pinch, Especially if they put JOYRIDE in the Candy Section! ?“

“Best restaurant experience I’ve had in quite some time!! The entire staff was so accommodating and efficient, from hostess to waiter/waitress. The only thing I would add is 2/3 more classic roll options to the menu. But everything else was SOOO good. And the men…. The men.“

“I would like to respectfully start with; I’ve been to Uchi multiple times over the years and will never forget my first experience (which will always be the best in my mind.) That being said — tonight might have been the closest to first I’ve ever had. Chance, our server was attentive, knowledgeable, easy going, brought some of the best plates when we asked “bring us what you like/anything you think we missed” literally 12/10 would recommend. Ask for Chance, he knows his shiiiiiiii* and made our night absolutely amazing and something we will never forget!“
