“I tried Smith’s BBQ for the first time today and it’s a bit of a mixed review. I had the four meat sampler (brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken) with green beans and baked beans. The ribs were good but not memorable and the brisket was a bit chewy BUT, the sausage and chicken were EXCELLENT. The baked beans were simple but perfect. They reminded me of a family picnic. In my opinion, the green beans were OUTSTANDING and the star of the show. Very unique flavor that hit the taste buds like WOW! I’ll definitely go back for double chicken with green beans and baked beans!“

“Went this past weekend when visitng SA after the Zoo with my honey. Ruby and Louie were super kind and accommodating as soon as we walked in. Louie immediately started describing menu options/popular choices with my honey while Ruby noticed this expecting mama was out of breath, and offered me a water as we conversed about babygirl. Y’all are always sold out of ribs, it’s 5:15pm on a Thursday early evening. This has been the 3rd time I try or order the ribs and sold out.

Two people could easily share this! And while sometimes restaurants will serve up large portions to make up for quality, that’s not the case here. The brisket was excellent and the potato was cooked to perfection. The ribs were perfectly done as well. Very flavorful and juicy. We also had the Mac Daddy sandwich. Another excellent choice. We pass it twice a day and have often laughed about it. Shame on me for violating my own premise that the best food comes from the most unassuming dive joints. We finally tried it and Holy Smokin' beef cheeks, Batman. The service is good and the people friendly. The barbacoa is super tender, flavorful and moist, without being greasy. It comes with whole avocados, pico de gallo, your choice of flour or corn tortillas. If you order flour you're doing it wrong. You can optionally get it with the requisite beverage, Big Red. If you order any other drink, you lose your Texican card. It doesn't matter if you hate Big Red as I do. Go Big Red or go home. It has all the ambience of being broken down in your car on the side of a busy highway intersection, which of course is exactly the ambience it should have. I found out through my wife AFTER, when the waiter headed to lie to us 2x telling us she told us that everything BUT the brisket (which I didn't want) was pork. She did mention they had chicken and turkey, but those are poultry(not kosher meats).

This review was not intended to put down the business but to call attention to the waitress that lied to us after the fact. My wife there took me to get some beef ribs because we have been trying to get some from outback,Texas Roadhouse, Cheddar's and was not successful.
Just to be told by the waiter that the ribs and rest of the meats were made out of pork only. It's the lying I can't stand.
(I have changed the review to 4 Star so you know my intentions)

“Choice BBQ found here. Dropped in the afternoon for sliced brisket and sausage plate. Owner prepared the plate himself and it came with a vinegar based coleslaw that was wonderful. Plate also came with beans and potato salad all sides were done right. Extra bread, pickles, and fresh cut onions were also provided. The brisket and sausage were amazing this also came with tasty bbq sauce. Owner was friendly and kept me entertained with stories. Highly recommended for sure!“

“My wife and I went today for lunch, she had the Chicken fried chicken and I had a burger with mushrooms and sautéed onions. Also a cactus blossom for appetizer. By far some of the best food we have had in a while. Complements to the chef and team. Devon was our waiter and he was great! We will be asking for him for now on when we go back. Also if you haven’t tried the Raspberry tea, you’re missing out lol. Just wanted to share cause great service is hard to find these days and again great job!“
