She made sure my family had great understanding of the menu items and suggested some favorites since it was our first time, not only that but she ensured all meals were okay and was very patient with us since we sent back orders to be heated more than once. But overall the food was very tasty but not well heated, I would definitely try it again.”

Just be prepared to spend as everything is sold by the pound - not a place I’d recommend on a budget unless you’re grabbing a sammich! Sides were surprisingly good!!! The Rwanda dark is very flavorful too, I just brew it so strong that it comes out too dark for me 🤣💀”

“These Native New Yorkers were pleasantly surprised! Best in San Marcos, don’t let the poor reviews deter you. The fish and nigiri were fresh and delectable. Good balance of rice to fish ratio. My hubby was raving about the Firefly squid and Hokkaido uni - both which are extremely rare to procure and execute.

Flavor profiles were stronger in nigiri than the rolls in our opinion. However, we’re biased since we gravitate towards nigiri and sashimi more. The chutoro and otoro were good as well, nice scoring skills - melts in your mouth butter type. Oysters were on point too and dressed well. It’s refreshing to have quality seafood here in Texas. Give them a try!”

For example the “super taco” used to be 4.99 and it still reflects that online however after the most recent visit there the price has gone up to 10 dollars with tax. Other than that a great place.”

Our server, Jasmine, looked like maybe she wasn’t having her best day. She didn’t seem to have many other tables that we could see, but we still had to ask for refills of drinks from other servers. Once the food came out, she disappeared.

But despite the off service, the food was def good enough to go back again.”

Usually, at other places, they will say, Welcome in and give suggestions or ask if you have questions. The lamba latte was great. The brownie was good, but I didn't realize it was going to be cold. I think had it been room temp or warmed up, it would have been even better. I will gladly stop by again the next time I'm in the area. I also attend a Craft Night with a group of ladies there on Vinyl Night. I love getting to share music I enjoy and hear what vinyl others have collected. Def the coolest bar in San Marcos that attracts similar funky folks around town, offering a space to find community and have nice THC seltzers or local craft beers, ciders and meads. The lavender mead is my favorite! You can also bring your own food which is a plus. :)”

The cheese enchiladas are horrible, it had this watery yellow stuff all over it, NO chili gravy, NO enchilada sauce. The rice and beans were horrible - NO flavor, portion is ridiculously teeny tiny, beans were watery. NEVER GOING BACK! THIS IS THE 2ND TIME, 2ND LOCATION, FOR THIS UNNACCEPTABLE HORRIBLE FOOD.”

I added avocado to the frullati fantástico panini and it paired beautifully with the chipotle ranch. The tres leches cake wasn’t the best and the cake itself was a little stiff, but the flavor was nice. David served me and was very polite and helpful. Definitely a good lunch deal. Nevertheless, I went outside to talk on the phone and the cook came to apologize about the time (but it had only been 20 minutes). I had ordered Mongolian beef and it comes with crispy noodles. I did see the option where you could get rice, or noodles. I opted for noodles in sauce. I had wondered why my meal was over $20. I also ordered Lemongrass dumplings. They were good, but not sure they were worth the $8 price, not to mention my meal was over $20. The service was amazing when I picked up my food and it was immediately ready to go. The food was fantastic. Other than a bit over priced, it was probably one of the better Asian places I had been to. My did not like his General Tso's Chicken, but overall I was impressed.

I will definitely have to give this place another shot. Now that I know how the menu works, I probably would not go and order another side of noodles, being that my meal comes with it. If you are considering trying this place, I would definitely go. You will not be disappointed.”

The salsa is good, tomato jalapeño base, like my grandma made. I’d like to see an agua Fresca or two. Will be returning asap”

On the other hand, the soup was spot on! It was flavorful and comforting, definitely a highlight of the meal.

The establishment itself was somewhat clean, though there’s a bit of room for improvement in that area.

What really stood out during my visit was the service. Despite being understaffed during my visit, the team did an admirable job of assisting customers as much as they could. Their dedication to providing good service was evident, and I appreciated their efforts to keep everything running smoothly. The staff was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

Overall, I would recommend Mariscos La Fonda for the soup and great service, but I hope to see improvements in the oysters and cleanliness on my next visit.”

“I had my first sub a 12 inch and I'm telling you it was so filling and very tasteful and loaded. I have never tasted a sub as good as this one and will certainly go back and either try another sub or sandwich or anything else they have their. My grandson loved their Mac and cheese for sure. My hubby enjoyed his side dish of tomatoes and cucumbers very fresh and tasty too!. The 12 inch sub was a little too much for us but it were super great and will not go to waste for I will continue to eat up the remainder of it. I'll need to try their Carrot Cake next visit and believe me there will be many from now on. Thank You McAllister the employees were very nice and quickly to do orders.
