“Recently went to Twin Peaks and had one of the best experiences with my waitress Deasiah. She made sure my family had great understanding of the menu items and suggested some favorites since it was our first time, not only that but she ensured all meals were okay and was very patient with us since we sent back orders to be heated more than once. But overall the food was very tasty but not well heated, I would definitely try it again.”

“Easily one of my favorite spots in San Marcos

Balcón Comedor y Bar totally blew me away. The vibe is chill but stylish — great music, great energy, and the kind of place you could post up for hours with friends and a couple of margaritas.

We started with the carne asada fries and elote asado, and honestly… they might be the best I’ve had. The fries were loaded (in the best way) and the elote had the perfect balance of spice, lime, and cheese. Just unreal.

I went with the al pastor taco and the Cali Burrito — and wow. The burrito was massive, cheesy, and packed with carne asada and fries inside (basically everything you crave at once). The taco had just the right kick, with a sweet touch from the pineapple. You can tell they put real love into every dish.

What really made the night was Javier, the owner — he came by to check on us, and you could tell how much he cares about the food and the people. Super genuine guy, and that vibe trickles down to the whole staff.

If you’re in San Marcos and love modern Mexican food, this place is a must. Great drinks, amazing food, and a team that actually makes you feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back.

My hubby was raving about the Firefly squid and Hokkaido uni - both which are extremely rare to procure and execute.

Flavor profiles were stronger in nigiri than the rolls in our opinion. However, we’re biased since we gravitate towards nigiri and sashimi more. The chutoro and otoro were good as well, nice scoring skills - melts in your mouth butter type. Oysters were on point too and dressed well. It’s refreshing to have quality seafood here in Texas. Give them a try!”

They use high-quality ingredients, and everything’s made to order, so you know it’s fresh and not just some mystery blend that’s been chilling in a fridge since Tuesday. They even have wheatgrass shots if you’re feeling extra healthy.

Our server, Jasmine, looked like maybe she wasn’t having her best day. She didn’t seem to have many other tables that we could see, but we still had to ask for refills of drinks from other servers. Once the food came out, she disappeared.

“We ordered the emporium (hence the name is from the emporium piercing & tattoo center down the road) and the bee stinger. The drinks were very good, better than other local coffee shops I’ve had. I will say the emporium was a bit too sweet for my tasting but very good! We also ordered the cherry orange? Muffin which my picky toddler age (it was pretty sweet as well, sweeter than a blueberry muffin)

The restroom also was pretty clean, had a changing table with some diapers and pads in the baskets as well which is great for anyone who forgot something that day!

The last time I was here was about 6-7 years ago as well; I can’t wait for their fall menu to come back!”

The beautiful and courteous woman informed me that it is made from scratch so it would be a while. No problem, as I was waiting I almost ordered a breakfast sandwich for the next day because a gentleman was smacking on a juicy one at a table. Nevertheless, I went outside to talk on the phone and the cook came to apologize about the time (but it had only been 20 minutes). She offered me an absolutely delicious mouth water brisket sandwich with the bread toasted to perfection. It was so good, I almost forgot about the sauce and it was good too! I scarfed it down and had some succulent catfish too…MMMM! The ladies were so professional, friendly, and delightful you need to zip on down to Zippliners!”

Chorizo bean and cheese was decent, chorizo is ok, the beans are pretty good. Beans and cheese was good, better than some others I’ve eaten in town. Tortillas are good also, homemade and soft. The salsa is good, tomato jalapeño base, like my grandma made. I’d like to see an agua Fresca or two. Will be returning asap”

“Just ate there today for the first time. I’m from San Antonio and I met friends from Austin there for brunch. Fabulous food. I’m gluten intolerant and there were lots of options on the menu. Yay! When I got the tea and took the first sip….. I could tell it was not sugar free. I asked them if it was sugar free and another girl came from the back and said we used unsweetened tea but when you add flavors, they are sweetened. It was so sweet, I could not drink it! So, just so everyone knows, sugar free doesn’t always mean sugar free.”

I wanted a simple, lemon cake with minimal vanilla icing and it turned out and tasted just how I wanted it! So good!

“I went at around 6pm on Saturday the 23, of 2025. They only had 3 people and were working their butts off, with 10+ people outside at the walk up window and both drive thru lanes full. I hope management can recognize and reward those 3. I want to make it clear that the wait I had is not the fault of the three working and instead the fault of management for not scheduling enough people and to their team for not having their backs. They handled upset and unsympathetic customers really well in their situation and kept a cool head while i was there. Kudos to the three that helped me and I hope that their day either got better or that they get rewarded for their hard work.”

The 12 inch sub was a little too much for us but it were super great and will not go to waste for I will continue to eat up the remainder of it.
