“I’ve eaten here a few times. When they first opened to the public I was so happy that Soup Curry had finally arrived to Vancouver. The soup was hot and everything cooked to perfection.
I came here recently greeted with lovely staff but the food just wasn’t quite right. The carrot was hard and soup was lukewarm. Reading the reviews, it looks like I wasn’t alone in this experience. The meat was tender though and I enjoyed the flavour profile. One thing I would ask especially since now fall and winter are arriving is that you serve your soup curry hot 🙏🏼 I hope to return next time seeing this change.“

“Since hubby misses Japan (the food especially) immensely, I decided to bring Japan to him for his birthday! It was more than we could've hoped for from the gracious hosts, Chef Ray and wife Christine, to the gorgeous presentation of each course, the preparations of each item, the texture, the taste and the cosy atmosphere. We savoured each bite, while enjoying the friendly banter between the hosts and a couple of their regulars at the bar seating. Highly recommend! side note: I was impressed by just how meticulous and thoughtful they are when I saw they even put a little decor under the washroom sink.“

“Haven't been to Yuu for a while and we went back last week. Price didn't go up much despite the inflation. Kids order some special drink and the staff even gave them a small ice-cream cone to top it off. Great gesture. Would definitely be going back more often.“

“I dined here for lunch a few days ago with some friends. We ordered different pasta dishes to share and we all ate the matcha tiramisu. Everything was delicious. Noodles were cooked perfectly, and all the sauces had the right amount of seasoning (nothing was lacking or overpowering the dish). The dessert was very tasty and not super sugary as other desserts can be.
Since this was during the lunch time rush, the restaurant was fully seated with people waiting for a table. The service was quick and attentive. Our water was refilled and the server made sure to check on us and how our meal was. We did not feel rushed nor ignored.
I feel the owner and the staff have corrected a lot of the concerns it seems people have had with negative reviews. This is now one of my favourite restaurants in Richmond and I will be coming back many more times.“

“If you are a One Piece fan you will like this place. Service was great and they filled our tea frequently. The food was very tasty and flavorful, especially the skewers. The only down side is that the portion is small for the price that they charge. I find it overpriced. It is a nice place to hang out with friends, nonetheless.“

“We had a fantastic time at Daimanya to celebrate my brother’s birthday! The service team made sure it was special, and we got to satisfy all of our cravings. There was even a discount that they offered for his birthday!
The food options varied a lot, ranging from sashimi to wagyu sukiyaki to lobster and foie gras. We tried almost everything on the menu, and it was all delicious! Just after the first round, we were already getting stuffed but we powered through and ordered a second round of food options from the menu.
Though the restaurant is not that big, the ambience was designed very well! Make sure to reserve in advance because parking and tables are limited. For an AYCE option, the price and service are definitely worth it!“

“I just had to share my excitement about this Japanese food court spot! Seriously, if you're looking for fast, quality Japanese comfort food, you need to check them out.
Their Chicken Katsu is absolutely top tier. It's always perfectly fried to a golden crisp on the outside, and the chicken inside is consistently delicious, incredibly tender and never dry. The accompanying curry is also always on point; it has that rich, savory flavor and ideal thickness that makes every bite satisfying.
But the real star of the show for me is the Salmon Ikura Don. It is simply to die for. The fresh salmon, glistening with the pop of ikura over perfectly seasoned rice with the wasabi mayo is a match made in heaven... it's a truly heavenly dish that tastes far superior to what you'd expect from a food court. Would come back again and again!“

“My family and I always get the hirekatsu set with a side order of menchikatsu and ebi.
We go to Japan often and we know the difference in taste, quality and service. Saku is the best choice and reminds me of the quality and taste to my favourite place in Tokyo Japan.“

“We reserved a party of 18 today and ordered several Afternoon Tea sets. Both adults and kids really enjoyed the tea sets. The sets included a wide range of sweets, karage options, and tasty yam & truffle fries with delicious and filling salmon croissants. Festive drinks were also included. The gingerbread latte was my favourite.
The staff were attentive, efficient and provided excellent customer service. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Thank you so much Hazukido Richmond we will definitely return again!“

“Oretachi Curry is easily one of the better spots in Richmond when you’re craving Japanese curry. The curry is rich, smooth, and packed with deep savoury flavour without being overly heavy. The katsu was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the rice-to-sauce ratio was spot on. Portions are satisfying and everything tastes freshly made. If you’re into Japanese comfort food, this place absolutely delivers.“

“The chicken sashimi bento box includes a piece of chicken karaage and four tempuras, of which two are shrimp. $21.50 as of April 15, 2025. No discount for lunch.
Everything was a cut above the usual bento boxes. Tempuras and karaage were crispy but not greasy. Cabbage separated the BBQ chicken from the rice - a nice touch. Sashimi pieces were thick and firm.
Decor is well kept; place is clean. It’s not Tojo nor Miku, but then, neither are the prices. Recommended.“

“Food was good! Well worth the price, because of the quality of the meat. We were worried about portion wise, but it was good enough. Unlimited refills of self-serve soups: miso and a specialty soup, and there's option for toppings to add to the soup. Note the soup is very hot! Parking is ok.“

“Had lunch omakase yesterday, and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. The chef and staff were very friendly and talkative! I was delighted to try a new sake. I can confidently say this is the highest quality omakase I’ve had in Vancouver—better than the two Michelin-starred Japanese restaurants I’ve tried before. The only thing I think could be improved is that the flavors were a bit on the salty side. If they were a touch milder, it would better highlight the freshness of the ingredients. We also celebrated our anniversary here, and the staff were kind enough to take a photo for us.“

“The place is neat and tidy.
Staff are friendly.
I love the Udon. The taste was good.
Kid's menu portion was generous when compared to my udon. 😆
The salmon sushi was great, too!
This is a Janpanese restaurant runned by, I believe, Korean.“

“Despite its name, Hibiki Ramen offers much more than just ramen. This is my second visit, and this time I decided to try dishes other than ramen—and I’m glad I did.
I was pleasantly surprised by the great variety on the menu. Among everything we ordered, the yakitori and the grilled steak really stood out. Both were flavorful and well executed. The crab porridge was another highlight, impressively rich and comforting.
The soft shell crab was perfectly cooked and paired wonderfully with a cold beer. Overall, I’m very pleased with all the dishes we tried. Next time, I’ll definitely come back to check out their happy hour menu.“

“I've been coming to this place for about twenty years now that the staff and I are on first name basis. It's very hard not to love this place. Service is friendly. Food is consistently good. Price is reasonable. For me, having Japanese food in Richmond is synonymous with eating at Matsuyama. Five Star Rating. 🙂🥰“

“Tsujiri at OpenRoad Toyota Richmond is a unique and authentic Japanese café experience. The matcha, green tea, and soba were all excellent, giving a real taste of Japan. While enjoying your food, you can look around at the Toyota cars, which adds a unique touch to the setting. It feels like the café is tailor-made for the Japanese management, and we’re lucky to enjoy it with them. Big praise to the management for creating such an authentic Japanese atmosphere. The Japanese staff is super friendly and welcoming!“

“Food was FANTASTIC. I honestly expected nothing less of the place and it met my every expectation food-wise.
The service was alright, they do a device ordering style. Which can be confusing for some people so watch out for that, my family personally found it easy to navigate so we didn't have much trouble with it.
The only big complaint I had was the wait time. It was a weekend, however we were told that we'd be seated after 15 minutes, when reality was that we waited for A NEAR HOUR.
Oh well.
Still would come again! 😛“

“Edomae sushi at a reasonable price. Popular sushi joint. Clean minimalist decor. 6pm reservation. My wife really enjoys coming here. I feel that they can better improve on their rice preparation as it's a bit gummy and mashed. It ought to be distinct, plump and glossy. The 90 minutes time limit is a bit tight but we happily oblige because we want to see this kind and hospitable husband and wife team succeed and serve more waiting customers.“

“Really enjoyed this Japanese spot!
The mentaiko udon was definitely my favorite – super rich and flavorful, and the little pops of roe in every bite were so satisfying. The noodles were chewy and cooked just right.
The chawanmushi (steamed egg) was amazing too – silky smooth with shrimp and salmon roe on top, which added a nice depth of flavor. So comforting when it’s warm!
The agedashi tofu had a great texture – they used firm tofu with a crispy outside and soft center, and the savory sauce brought everything together.
We also had the eel sushi roll, which was perfectly balanced – not too sweet, and the eel had a nice charred flavor.
And big shout-out to the staff – super kind and attentive. The whole dining experience felt cozy and welcoming. Definitely coming back!“

“We had a wonderful dining experience at this sushi bar. The food was exceptional, with incredibly fresh seafood that truly melts in your mouth. We ordered the sushi platter that came with an assortment of sushi and Chawammushi. The Chawanmushi was rich and comforting, and the uni was wonderfully fresh and delicate. The tempura was cooked to perfection—crispy yet light, not too greasy. Order the uni bombs to get the fresh uni in that light crispy tempura batter.
One standout dish was the slow-cooked braised beef, which was so tender it fell right off the bone. To finish the meal, the matcha crème brûlée was the perfect dessert—balanced, creamy, and not overly sweet.
Service was professional throughout the evening. One small note: cell service inside the restaurant is limited, so be sure to ask for the Wi-Fi password upon arrival.
Overall, this is a place we would happily return to and highly recommend for an elevated and memorable dining experience.“

“Efficient service and great food! This was the perfect place to go on a cold day with a friend who we wanted to spend quality time with. The lack of noise meant we were able to have a good conversation and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Excellent value for the money. It's simple, solid, healthy and very clean. Loved the tempura, udon soup, teriyaki, sushi, sashimi and the big pot of tea!“

“first time here for AYCE lunch, I find the place very clean, and staff friendly. Food is overall very good, I like the sushi, sashimi, BC rolls, salad, chicken teriyaki, futomaki, tempura, and ice cream. The miss are sunomono too sweet lack vinegar, goma salad too salty, and that thirsty feeling from MSG (which I have no idea from which items). Yes I will go back again :)“
“I have been to this place more than a couple times already and I love it !!
Soupless style Ramen 🍜 from Japan 🇯🇵
Everything is well balanced in one bowl and generous portion
You can also choose how much noodles you want for your serving
At the end you can also get a free steamed rice to mix in with the goodness at the end of the bowl
Highly recommend!! 👍“

“We made a reservation for dinner on Apr 22nd because we went the weekend before and it was 1 1/2 hour wait. The food was really good but small portions. We booked for 5:30pm and left at 8pm and not by choice. We took our 7 year old. His food came within about 20-30 minutes. While we got our miso, edamame and salad one at a time, It took over an hour to get our BBQ meat, and longer to get our bowls of rice. 2 1/2 hours to get our bill (with me stopping someone to ask for the bill). Our son was super excited to cook meat but was getting upset with all the waiting. Quite honestly, the 2 adults with him were too. But I would give it a try again because the food was good“

“A lot of places in the food court are cash only but Aji Hana was one of the few places that accepted credit cards (some other places accepted debit card or digital payment through specific mobile payment apps). They have a huge selection of japanese food to choose from. I ended up choosing the deep fried tofu bento box which was only about $15. It came with three tempura pieces, a California roll, 4 agedashi tofu, rice with teriyaki sauce, salad, and miso soup. Everything tasted pretty good. The tempura pieces were a lot better than the ones that I've had at other Japanese restaurants (the batter was nice and light). The person who took my order was very friendly and professional, which cannot be said about some of the other places in the food court. The wait time also wasn't too long which was nice.
Would definitely order from this place again in the future.“

“Tokyo Joe is one of my go-to sushi spots, and it never disappoints. I keep coming back because their sushi tastes truly authentic and reflects real Japanese quality. The ingredients are fresh, the rolls are well-balanced, and the flavors are consistently excellent.
On my most recent visit, I ordered one salmon avocado roll, two house rolls, two spicy salmon rolls, a dynamite roll, and an Alaska roll—all for just $65. That’s an amazing deal considering the quality and portion sizes.
The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the dining experience even better. While the seating and service area is a bit tight, it doesn’t take away from the overall experience.
If you’re looking for authentic Japanese sushi at reasonable prices with great service, Tokyo Joe is definitely worth visiting.“
