“My mom and I joined a tour group from Seattle to Banff national park and stopped here for dinner. The food that the tour group ate was wonderful and ate vegetarian fried rice, beef tendon in teriyaki sauce and others. The service was wonderful and that there were lots of people there.“

“We had a fantastic dim sum experience about a year ago at a different location, which was helped by having a large group of 20—plenty of dishes to sample. This time, it was just the three of us, so we kept it light with six dishes. Unfortunately, the Thai-style chicken feet didn’t go over well with the family—the strong vinegar flavor and unusual texture were a far cry from the traditional braised and steamed version that’s typically tender and flavorful. That said, the rest of the dishes were enjoyable and tasted freshly made, which definitely elevated the overall quality.
Prices are noticeably higher than what we’re used to in Seattle, though we haven’t tried other spots in the area yet. That said, the portion sizes here are nearly double, which helps justify the cost. Service didn’t quite match the upscale feel of the restaurant, but we didn’t encounter any issues. And even without a reservation, we were seated right away.
Note on my rating scale: Sharing this for transparency, as I recognize that a 3-star review may be misinterpreted as reflecting a mediocre experience.
5 stars – Exceptional: Outstanding food, service, and/or overall experience. Truly worth going out of your way for. (For example, we frequently make the drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.)
4 stars – Very Good: Exceeds expectations in quality, service, or ambiance.
3 stars – Good: A solid experience that meets expectations. I consider any place with 3 stars or above worthy of a return visit.
2 stars – Disappointing: Falls short in food quality or service.
1 star – Poor: Not recommended.“

“For a restaurant featured on the Michelin Guide, Chef's Choice is a very solid restaurant all around. It's got a very nice interior atmosphere, with tasteful decor.
Quick and attentive staff and service, combined with incredibly good dim sum and other Cantonese dishes, which makes Chef's Choice my choice for Vancouver dim sum places.“

“Went for dim sum and want to let you know that dim sum is only served at lunch. Fantastic food and service. Ordered things not on menu and easily accommodated. Even brought us scissors when they saw us struggling with knife. Highly recommend.“

“Don’t be fooled by the low ratings! The dim sum we tried were delicious. The shrimp dumplings had perfectly thin wrappers and a hearty filling. Another classic, the siumai was also great, with a good balance of shrimp and pork. I loved the seafood tart which had a nice and sweet mayonnaise sauce that made it super creamy. My highlights were definitely the crispy prawn rice rolls, as it was both crunchy and chewy from the skin, as well as the steamed bbq pork buns. It had a generous amount of filling, and the best part was the bun itself, which was soft yet it didn’t stick to my teeth. Perfect balance!
One thing I would skip, however, would be the lemon bbq pork pastry, as I thought the pastry was quite thick and not delicate enough.
Overall, a solid dim sum spot!“

“I was introduced to this place through my friend. I was skeptical at first to try it, but man oh man it was delicious.
I had the beef noodles and it hit the spot, it was cooked very well and the broth was spot on. What I loved more about it was the owner who runs the place. He was so warm and welcoming.
I highly would recommend this place if you want the food to hit the spot and not cause damage to your pocket !“

“Been there several times and the food had always tasted awesome! I can’t think about one single dish I don’t like. Special recommendation on the 3in1 noodles, love the multi layer flavors.
Try to go a bit earlier cuz there might be a line up.“

“Overall experience here was great! The food was super fresh, customer service was on point as expected and the atmosphere was incredibly lively. There’s so much happening here which can get a bit overwhelming, especially with all of the clashing sounds. You’ve got the main music, birthday celebrations with tambourines and the hand pulled noodle guy that walks around with his own speaker! On top of that, it’s also incredibly busy. The only thing that genuinely made my table uncomfortable was the noodle guy. He came to our table and hit our friend in the face and head with the noodle multiple times. At first it was funny, but as it kept going we got increasingly more uncomfortable. He hit all 3 of us in the faces and the entire experience made us feel really weird. Other than that, everything else was great. The waiting area is super spacious and they have lots to do to keep you distracted and busy while you wait!“

“finally got around to dropping by, the first thing that blew me away was the atmosphere, I absolutely LOVE how liminal the mall feels. There was no one around when we went and it was super calming and tranquil.
I got the sampler which includes 1 of every dumpling, my girlfriend got a plate of vegan dumplings and we shared a plate of szechuan peanut cabbage
the dumplings were all packed with flavour, great texture and visually beautiful; each flavour of dumpling has a different colour. The cabbage caught me off guard with how addicting it was between the slight heat, sweetness of the peanut butter and black pepper.
Portion size was perfect, and very reasonably priced as well!
Will definitely be coming back“

“This is the most authentic Hang Zhou restaurant in Vancouver! I brought my parents who were visiting me from Hang Zhou there for lunch, and they absolutely loved it! We had four dishes:
1. Noodle soup with pork and preserved veggies (pian er chuan). Very fresh ingredients and delicious soup! The pork tenderloin slices were perfect, the bamboo was freshly flown in from Hang Zhou, and the noodles had a great texture, unlike any other noodle soup. I sent the photo to my relatives in Hang Zhou later in the evening, and they said the same noodle soup did not even look this good in Hang Zhou (with much fewer ingredients back home). So the chefs really produced a national treasure in my opinion.
2. Wonton soup. This is the street dish I grew up eating. The wonton skin was silky and the filling was delicious; the seaweed was fresh, and the little dried shrimp added more flavor. Just perfect and exactly how I remembered it.
3. Bing stuffed with preserved pork and veggie (mei gan cai bing). This is another perfection, thin and crispy crust, delicious and juicy filing, I wish I ordered another one.
4. Fried stinky tofu with sweet and spicy dipping sauce. This is another street dish I grew up eating. The stink is pretty mild, so it's not overpowering at all, but the tofu is really crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. The sweet and spicy sauce is what carries this dish.
Overall, I really like the food because it brings back so many memories of Hang Zhou. Even my parents are impressed (they are hard to impress!).“

“First time ordering from the restaurant. Food was nice, hot & fresh, delivered by Door Dash. 53. Ginger Fried Beef. was not quite what I expected (visually), but equally delicious as comparable restaurants'. Nice & spicy/gingery. The120. Fried Yee Mein with Mushroom was beautifully done with long tender mildly flavoured noodle strands that glides on it's own. Flavored just right. A definite 👍 👍
Order was delivered on time and in a cute delivery bag too!“

“It's probably a good thing I don't live nearby, else I'd be eating multiple pastries a day, everyday.
Everything's good. Seriously. The cha su bao's got a soft, fluffy bun and savory meat. Sesame balls are bursting with filling. The pluto had yummy citrus undertones. Most surprising was probably the red bean donut with its sugary coating. And of course, the dan tat had the perfect consistency.“

“My husband and I stopped here for lunch. I had a lunch special (deep fried ginger beef on rice) and my husband had noodle soup. The noodles were delicious and fresh, and the broth was flavourful. The ginger beef was also good, but the sauce was sweet, which I didn't expect and barely spicy hot, although it was rated as spicy. The tea is amazing, as was our server. The restaurant was full, and she managed it all, including the take out, in an unhurried, efficient, and friendly manner. Recommend this restaurant for the excellent noodles, fast service and reasonable prices.“

“A sure fire way to satisfy your Chinese barbecue cravings! Meat is flavorful and pork was crispy! Stir fried fish and broccoli was great! My only minor gripe was the daily soup (it was way too watered down). Overall great value and great food!“

“My husband brought me here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He was recommended to come by a friend and we were glad we came.
The owner was so nice and had messaged my husband with recommendations of dishes to try (some of which were not on the menu).
All his dishes were amazing and so delicious. As he is the only chef, dishes took a while to come out but we did not mind the wait at all. The server was nice and tended to us when we needed anything.
It was definitely worth our trip to downtown for this restaurant. Highly recommended!!“

“Got take out this time and the beef rice noodles weren't as good as usual (not enough wok hei) but it was still a solid meal. Roast pork was great, very crispy skin still. My go to place for not too expensive Cantonese food in Vancouver! Shoutout to the lady at the register who told me a great tip: calling or ordering on their website is cheaper than using Uber eats!“

“We come here often because it's close to our family. The food is very standard dim sum, nothing special. I usually order the pan fried turnip cakes - it's usually really delicious but the last few times it has been dry, flavorless and bland. The rice rolls are a little too dry as well. They do have delicious baked BBQ pork buns though and their fried dishes are usually good.
The service is always 👍. They're very personable and friendly, and very efficient.
Go in the morning. It gets extremely busy once 1130am comes around.“

“We often drive up from Seattle to Vancouver for the purpose of eating GOOD Chinese food. Today we went to Noodle Arts for the first time and OMG.....I'm in love and might have to just move here!!!! We are vegetarian and they were very accommodating with many choices on the menu. The hand-pulled MADE TO ORDER Dan Dan noodles were out of this world and you get to choose the diameter of the noodles you'd like. We chose the thickest (5mm) and they were so fresh and chewy. I was in culinary heaven. The sauce the noodles were in was divine. We also ordered Spicy Salted Tofu and the portion was immense. The tofu was fried but very dry and not oily at all. For dessert we order the red bean pancake and it was not great and very oily. The woman who waited on us was very friendly and helpful. Even the tea was yummy. Can't wait to go again!“

“Family run. Fresh hand made noodles.
I had high expectations. Really, I enjoyed each component the vegetables, the meat, the flavor the noodles.
This is one of the best noodle places I've been to in years, price was very fair.
I recommend this place to support local.
Also has good ice cream.“

“Small eatery known for their extensive noodle dishes. I had their Beef Chow Mein with Cumin ($16.50). Good portion size for the price, and I had some leftovers to take home after dinner. Was able to customize it to be non-spicy. The dish had a fragrant cumin flavour, and the beef slices were bouncy and tender. It also had a mix of veggies (beansprouts, cabbage, onions), but I wish there was a bit more protein overall. The picture in the menu has broccoli, but there wasn't any broccoli included.
Another diner in my group ordered their Clay Pot Noodle and remarked it's their go-to. Food came out promptly. I believe they only take cash/debit, so come prepared. No frills kind of eatery, but they have a good selection of items, so I'm definitely planning on returning to try some other dishes in the future!“

“Fell into this place by accident while visiting Vancouver. So glad we did. Wonder to see the noodles made. cumin lamb was out of this world as was the scallion pancake. Peanut noodles portion was huge, we couldn't finish it. Price was very reasonable. Will return next time we visit. Located on W Broadway.“

“I keep hearing good things about lin's on West Broadway. I finally decided to give it a try one afternoon.
Luckily it wasn't busy, I got seated right away. I ordered the soup dumplings, but longs noodle house is still the best in the city. None the less, still delicious. The beef roll was done nicely, not heavy or greasy. Then the beef Shanghai meat ball. This is definitely a dish to be shared, it's huge. I can't imagine eating this all alone without having the meat sweats LOL.
Overall, service was on the slow side, but not rude. Prices are fair for the area as well.“

“I've been coming here for 15+ years and can't imagine why this lovely, impeccably clean and relatively healthy-ish restaurant doesn't have 4.5/5 reviews or higher. The food is so good. It is the right amount of Chinese food you want when you're hung over or also just want delicious Chinese food on a week night. The woman who runs the place is super friendly. “My friend Booked reservations here and told me how much her and her bf loved eating here. It was my first Sichuan food
Experience and I loved it.
Because we had a party of 4 so we had to walk in and I came in at around 5.
The place is full of traditional Chinese decor and it’s spacious and open.
The staff immediately greeted me and offer
Me tea while we ate.
The menus is a scan and we ordered a few dishes.
My favorite was the spicy beef and the favorite was the sweet and sour pork.
We had the deep friend tong yuan with black sesame filling for dessert.
They also have free parking and I think for the portion, I think it’s reasonable.
It is spicy so to people who can’t eat too spicy, I would make sure u request less spicy and get a cold beverage!“

“I recommend reserving 2-3 days in advance if you wish to have dim sum brunch here on the weekend.
My favourites: stir fried green beans with minced meat, beef tendon, deep fried green scallion pancake, shu mai, fried stuffed eggplant
Wasn’t too impressed by: chicken feet, egg tart, rice noodles with beef, pai gwat fan, or hum sui kok
Overall service was very courteous, not quite rushing but efficient in removing empty dishes, no complaints since it was understandably a very busy Saturday lunch session (every table was full by 12pm, walk-ins had to be turned away at the door)
They no longer sell steamed rice rolls (I wanted to get the one stuffed with fried donut or shrimp). Seems the menu has shrunk a bit, probably to make the kitchen run more efficiently + reduce waste / costs.
My family like to dine here so I’ll probably be back but there are equally good if not better dim sum places around Vancouver.“

“An amazing hole in the wall serving chinese food/american diner food, hidden in plane sight on commercial drive. The store isn't much to look at but they have the best chinese food I've had in vancouver and their diner food is also off the charts! And it's all super reasonably priced deliciousness service is always top notch and the delicous food is aerved with a smile you can order out or eat in both are amazing. I love Kyle's and hope they're opened for another 30 years!!! My go to spot for cheap chinese food eats!
Kid-friendliness: As kid friendly as any other Chinese food restaurant is
Wheelchair accessibility: They're wheelchair friendly I've seen many people in wheelchairs eating here“

“For a chinese restaurant that caters to the more budget friendly spectrum, the service here was surprisingly excellent - which is shocking for budget chinese restaurants lol!
But besides the good service, food here is also very decent especially when we factor in price - which is one of the more value-oriented dim sum places around in GVRD area. Within the same class, this place is at least another 10-15% cheaper which makes a big difference.
Taste / seasoning is on the lighter side, wok-hei (breath of wok) and flavours are slightly more muted but overall still good for the price.
Ambience is nothing special. The restaurant is packed on a weekday lunch service which says something - not bad.
Will return!“

“First time in Vancouver and first time at Chinatown BBQ. We had the pork belly, char siu pork, duck, jellyfish, pork and veg fried rice, curry beef, and brocolli rabe. I am a Chef and my in-laws are Korean. We don't just know good food we know great food, this food was exceptional! We have had Chinese food in Chicago Chinatown where we live, NYC and Korea. This is the best I have ever had, truly an unreal experience. For me it was the quality of the meats, succulent, mouth melting, not too salty, not too sweet, very juicy. They are taking it to the next level here and must have some serious techniques figured out especially on how to get the meat roasted and caramelized without drying out. I saw in the back it looks like they are doing some form of aging. Nonetheless I was very impressed. For best experience come a little after 5 pm when the meats are coming out! This place deserves at least 1 michelin star of not 2! Keep it going cant wait to come back 💯“
