The inside is the exact vibe we were going for, music wasn’t too loud so we could talk, felt like a warm welcoming environment. The food was amazing. “What a great discovery Cocina Mama Cholita was! Just a small unassuming place on Mission St that we happened to walk into. The young proprietor had us sample all three enchilada sauces since we were unsure about which ones to pick. All three were delicious, but the the mole sauce was one of the best I had ever tasted. His grandma’s recipe, he said. Overall, a great experience! Serendipitous!!“

“We went in for early dinner at 5.30pm on a Saturday evening. It was pretty empty when we arrived. We started off with queso and chips which was pretty good. We had the mushroom tacos which were one of the best damn vegetarian tacos I have ever had in US!! Sweet potato tacos were pretty good too. Slightly pricy but the food and service make it worth it. On our way back to the hotel, we came by Cenote. It didn’t look like much from the outside. It only had a few small tables with hard stool-style seats, fast food style. However…. The food was incredible! The four of us had all a different dish, and all four dishes looked beautiful. The flavors were fresh and very tasty. No disappointment! If you are looking for a mid-range priced dinner with awesome flavor in that neighborhood, this is your place! We all paid less than $20 for a fabulous dinner. Highly recommended if you like fresh and flavorful Mexican food.“

“Been going there since the 70’s We loved their fresh made tortillas and masa for tamales. I did notice today the tortillas weren’t the same. I pray the masa hasn’t changed when we make our Xmas tamales. For the past 27 years I drive from Antioch to San Francisco for our masa.🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️“

“I've tried all the vegetarian burritos in town, and La Perla has the best. All ingredients of a super burrito (minus meat) and comes with extra veggies inside - peppers, onions, and spinach fajita style - rather than just a regular burrito, but with less, like most places do. It stands out among the Mexican restaurants in town for vegetarian options. Very good homemade salsas“
