“I’m touring a condo in Oakland for a client making an offer and I stop for a quick bite at a tiny sandwich place next to the Grand Lake Theater. OMG, Unbelievable sandwiches, smoked meats, homemade pickles, peppers🫑 and memorable pulled pork, etc. I hang out for a few minutes while Jerry makes my Cuban sandwich, and he has me try their smoked bacon, homemade meatballs, and more. Jerry’s the best and I love this place. Can’t wait to tell my client about it!! “I got the special combo ham sandwich without cilantro and jalapeno - but I found a jalapeno in my sandwich. My partner also found jalapeno in #20 grilled pork with lemon grass even it was ordered with no jalapeno. Beside that complaint, the banh mi was really good! The bread is soft and crunchy without hurting the roof of our mouth and it's fully stuffed with the meats and veggies while being affordable!

Although the inside of the shop is clean and organized, the streets is seemingly sketchy and dirty looking so be cautious. It might be hard to find parking.

Otherwise, it's worth to stop by to try!“

But the food is the best. The pastrami sandwich is soooo good. Soooo good. Well the only thing that changed is the price. The prices did go up. I told the old grumpy man that was taking the order that his food was sooo good. He grunted and moved his head up and down once at the same time not even looking at me. “We tried Weslos Sandwiches and loved it! You would never realize it is there but it is attached to the Loards ice cream. Staff was so friendly! We had both the Weslos and the Willows sandwiches, and it was tasty; even my picky kiddos loved it. I noticed they use bread from Acme Bread Company, and the herb bread I tried was absolutely delicious. I also had the HK coffee which was smooth and flavorful. Prices are reasonable. Super convenient there is a Loards ice cream in the same complex. Definitely coming back!“

“I've been getting coffee and eating lunch here weekly for years. I just changed jobs and no longer work on Filbert st and am sad to not come here regularly anymore. The prices are excellent, the menu has tons of options and I've enjoyed all of the things I've tried. I love their espresso, even go out of my way to come here for coffee from other neighborhoods sometimes. They make excellent salads and sandwiches especially their superb breakfast sandwich. One of the only places you can still get a decent espresso drink for under $5. And their jamaica agua fresca is off the chart! Highly recommended!“
